Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Knight Hate is Forced

Now look, I'm not going to pretend that Knight's design is the very best in the game. It does have a lot of flaws. It does suck to get sandwiched with a guard and get hit. But, at the same time, people still pretend it's 2023.

But when I say I've gotten death threats and bypassed slurs for just playing a character. Believe me.

Again I don't want to pretend that Knight is bhvr's best design of all time hands down. But I don't like how people willingly simplify and downplay his skillset just because they don't like the guards. To say the "guards do everything" just isn't the whole truth. In reality, Knight is just a way worse Spirit. Think how Deathslinger is to Huntress. The time to kill is a LOT slower, so already bad, then the power is very easily countered. About the only guaranteed hit in Knights arsenal is a max distance Assassin with Call to Arms. And even then not 100%.

Guards are a map control tool before they are a free hit. They're to deny survivors actions and apply pressure. You can't even chase with them anymore. The most you can do is push them out of a loop or break pallets. Which are strong don't get me wrong. But good survivors are just going to chain loops on you regardless, so really you just break/deny pallet vaults. He's literally just area denial.

Knight is C tier at best. He's only his strongest when you have Ruin up. Say I have a guard chasing a survivor off a gen, then I start another chase on the other side of the map. Well, now I'm a tall, loud, m1 killer with NO power. Or I can end the chase early, let the survivor hop back on the gen, and hopefully kill this guy quick enough for it to matter. This is 99% of Knight's pay off. You're helpless without guards and they're not reliable. I might chase this guy and get no hits on either of them.

I know another big deal is cross map guard chases, to which I say: Grab the banner. You literally get like 5 billion haste and 300 seconds of endurance. Again, only Assassin is the actual threat and he chases for like 16 seconds or something. So yes, you might occasionally get hit when you didn't want to. That's supposed to happen. Knight is a lot like Twins where you should usually stay grouped up and heal often. You can't just sit on gens injured then wonder why guards are mogging you.

The fun part of Knight isn't rubbing my hands together and laughing manically as survivors regret loading up. It's juggling the match and keeping up pressure on the whole team. Knights are not evil sadists who hate you (most of the time). We just like strategy.

Tl;dr: Understandable but also skill issue.

There's still plenty of time to react to him placing a guard now. I won't deny that yes you're screwed with nothing to chain. But you're given ample time to run somewhere else, and the best thing to do if chased by a guard is worry about not getting 2 tapped and forcing the knight to hit you before the guard does. Which doesn't last more than 10 seconds max now.

I get that sandwiching in a loop is awful to play against but there's really nothing that can be done due to his design without making his guards useless.

They tried making the drain rate faster when he's near but that didn't work.

They tried making banners spawn faster but that destroyed guard chases when knights focuses on someone else and survivor can just loop an object and get the banners super easy

Without a total major rework I don't see him being better I geuss just be glad he's kinda rare to see.
