Why do you keep playing DBD?
And i dont mean why arent you already burned out, i have fun playing it after 1000 of hours.
I just wanted to know what is your goal. Do you aim to unlock all perks, to P100 a character ot are just playing without a clear goal in mind?
I personally try to finish th old archive (i have maybe 5-6 tomee to go), i finish most events and most battlepasses (but i do not grind the last level if i dont make it).

For fun with friends, troll but also try and win at the same time it’s a nice balance that I’ve been able to do for years.

QED: it's only fun with friends, i.e. in SWF. In soloQ or as killer it's just suffering.

I lost my passion for this game. I've completed all the tomes so there's nothing left but grinding BPs to level up the characters which I'm not going to bother with since there's nothing to gain from it.
Have time for just a few games a week. If anything it's SpringTrap for the killer side and for survivor I'm just fooling around and the chases.

After 2.8k hours, I find fun in mixing perk+addon/item loadouts to try different things, even if they don't do well.
I also want to learn more killers. My mains are Sadako, Pyramid Head, Deathslinger, Unknown and Dracula, but I've been practicing with Artist, Spirit, Twins and occasionally Pig and Billy to try and expand my skillset. I also want to do better as survivor, going against meta builds and experimenting.Post edited by ChaosWam on-1 -
I do random characters and builds that is how I keep my playing more interesting. Still I do enjoy the game still and there is nothing similar to play that has kept my interest.
Its fun when something happens that you did not expect like Moment of Glory healing me full health when being in Trappers trap and because of that not going down when killer hit me while I was on the trap.

To have miserable matches against anti-loop, dash slop killers😏 and also for rift pass with rewards from events😘

DBD's a pretty great game for me insofar as there's a huge amount of variety to play around with, which is something I like quite a bit.
My main driver of interest with DBD, and the thing I'm doing the most when I boot the game up, is buildcrafting and finding synergies. The loadout presets have been great for me, I adore having multiple different cohesive builds to swap between and try out!

Solo Q is a masochist's wet dream

Do the daily challenges and occasionally a few Huntress games trying to get distance hits.
Nothing else holds my interest long enough anymore so I'll play something more interesting instead.

Ive finnished all the achievements, and all the tome challenges. Once i ran out of stuff like that to do i started prestiging favorite characters. Just finnished my 8th p100. Starting to lose meaning with getting p100s now, so im looking forword to the prestige rewards (this month apparently). What keeps me going is the steady stream of new content i guess. Tho im eternally bummed out about Shanoa just being a cosplay for Yui along with Simon Belmont being a cosplay for Trevor, i hold onto false hope that someday they might become legendary skins. Hoping to see predator someday since xeno is my 2nd 100 and im a big fan of AvP.
When rifts are active i usually just log in for the dailies and leave, unless a new page of quests came out too then i do those. During anniversary ill play all day grinding for cakes, ended up with over 1000 on 2 different characters along with 200-500 on several more. Otherwise at times like this where theres nothing new, rift is done ages ago, and nothing coming out for yet another month, i just do the dailies.

Doing challenges, trying to hit orbitals with Springtrap or any crazy shot really, playing with friends and goofing around. Just overall having fun with the game

I personally love to learn different killers and their techs. In huntress case I love to crossmap and hit orbitals or through walls, in chuckys case I love to 180 people with moondashes or hit people with crazy windowdashes.

it sounds cheesy, but ive always wanted to be the one of the best demogorgons on the game since his release. so i grind the killer a lot. not really for prestige or accolades, but just to prove to myself that having a good mindset and understanding myself in-depth is the key to it all.

Its presumptuous to assume every individual on the forums is still playing the game. BHVR loves to throws its stats when it fits their narrative, how about the retention rate of vets and new players?

Quests, mainly. Honestly, until i read your post I'd pretty much forgotten about the Archives. I've done most of them but definitely have some older ones to do

100% completion on all tomes and achievements and choosing random, lesser used perks and making builds with them that get results on both killer and survivor.
Been doing that now since I started In November 2021. Had my first big break from the game of 3 months after summer ended in September and had planned to come back for the Christmas event which I did refreshed and with new lease of life on the game and no longer burnt out!

I started following this game since the beta and picked it up at launch. The idea of a game where you can actually be the horror movie killer? Where you can escape a real human playing then as a survivor? Literally a dream.
I was about half my age then. And the only thing that matched my excitement from seeing an actual horror movie villain added in Myers was seeing the teaser for my most wanted licence in FNAF about a year and a half ago.
DBD has so many faults, too many to list, but it is has quite literally become that game from my dreams. Complete with Chucky and Xenomorph and Springtrap and a few other icons I thought impossible. Are there still a couple obvious names on the board? Sure, but we'll get em. So long as the game stays playable and survivor and the majority of killers are still fun, I don't think I'll ever stop playing.

I just take long breaks from the game and only come back when it's like an event or a game mode comes back

no idea, addiction i guess, over 12k here, i got 1 of the world best computers, we talking about oc 5090/9950x3d/64gb cl26 1500psu plat etc, and i even ordered the new 2k 540hz dual monitor (which also supports 720p 720hz) new asus tendem oled 0.02ms, i might get addicted to other games with higher frames if bhvr wont increase the the frame cap, eventually even consoles will have higher frame rates, when bhvr upgraded their engine they shouldve made it possible for dbd to run up to 480hz at least, the game already hurts the eyes when u scroll ur mouse around, better just make higher fps cap and it would be future proof for future pcs, i can easily run dbd on 400fps on my pc if it were possible, in fact with better coding i could run even 1000 fps.

Nobody "keeps playing DBD". They just take breaks, come back, then realize why they quit, so they take another break. For me that reason right now is rampant cheating. Yesterday I had the groundbreaking record of 7 lobbies in a row with at least one 'blatant' cheater in it. I'm done.
-I'm a 5k+ hour player if that matters

Mainly for fun. I just enjoy the game a lot. The gameplay loop is honestly enough to keep interested. I barely do tomes because I just forget about them. P100 would be cool but not a huge goal pushing me. Unlocking perks would be up there, mainly to try out new builds and see what whacking fun I can have or if I can put together a diabolical build that is really good. I just enjoy the game and the gameplay a lot. There's no other game like it and the fact that you can't transfer skill from another game into this one is something I personally enjoy a lot.

its the only way i can get chased by girls

I think the last time I was being chased by a Sable and Mikaela I genuinely blushed. I'm not used to people wanting my attention
