BHVR please address the hacking epidemic
I've just been moried twice while the game was still panning in, how is there no server side validation to be like "hey the killer should not be killing survivors as the camera is panning in"
We cant even report them as they remove the score screen from the egc, this needs to be addressed with better anti cheat.

I don’t play all that often but I haven’t run into a blatant cheater in a very long time. I see lots of people complain about it here, but wonder how big of a problem it really is. I play in the US, usually around 9-11PM. Maybe it’s more common in other regions and/or at different times? I also haven’t seen a lot of discussion about an “epidemic” amongst popular content creators. Seems like there would be a lot more complaining about it by content creators if it truly is a widespread problem.
But I do agree that it’s completely unacceptable that the game can’t automatically detect when someone does something that shouldn’t be possible and simply auto-ban them. Is there concern that some players who aren’t cheating could be banned if there are glitches in the game?

Just second night that I got two cheaters and they werent covering it at all not to mention how many subtles there could i have faced its just getting worse and worse and funniest is that you arent safe not even as survivor or killer because they go against all not to mention holding game hostage.

in regards to content creators I think they are put in a special que without hackers or at least with less (I remember that being a thing mentioned a few years ago at least for the big ones)

Fair point that regions differ. EU prime time is rougher for me too, both with blatant and the “subtle” stuff.
What shouldn’t be up for debate anymore: after 8 years there’s still no basic server-side validation to block the obvious. Things like mori while the camera is still panning, zero-cooldown chains, impossible position/velocity jumps, health or state flips. Reject bad packets, log key events, auto-flag. That alone would catch a big chunk.And on the creator angle:
I really hope there isn’t any special queueing or softer treatment for Fog Whisperers / Consultants / Content Creators. If there is anything of that sort, BHVR should say so plainly.That would be like damage control while another batch of Feng and Sable skins goes live.
Ship server authority and minimal event logging, then talk cosmetics. Until that happens, the cheating problem will keep growing.

That sucks I had two holding me hostage with other 3 or two survivors because some cheaters paly with friends it seems even with ttv for content (cheater just did bs and than I saw the ttv open gates and some strange heals were there to but i had full attention on the cheater but how can you beat someone who can just freeze on the spot and instaheal himself and open gates on 5 gens, insta pick himself or heal faster than your attack cooldown and teleport).
The situation is getting ridicilus I just facing more and more cheaters and some of them are even bully squads carried by one big cheater and one subtle sometimes its just getting worse and worse even without free weak on epicgames which started this mass bs.
Personaly i play more killer now due ti queue times and bp bonus is up so i havent met killer cheater since last 2v8 but I get you going through, usualy I dont dc but now Im having longer time penalty and i fear i will get day one long because of this bs where Im held hostage either by cheater leaving his character as bot there or somehow freezing another survivor into locker and even endgame collapse cant break this you can just either dc and take the penalty or wait what one hour so the server dies.
This situation can be described by few words all DBD veterans know "pretty good job so far" (no ofence but what can i say when this problem is getting worse and worse and nothing is done about it?).

Problem is now that those balant cheaters arent just the main cause of problem (like the ones that speed for few % haste behind corners or do gens little faster or heal without perks but close to normal speed), now there are the middle ones I would call them or even the big ones that fly like jesus and just can do anything from killing others instantly to holding game hostage for 1 hour (time that is required for server to die or either you dc but doing it more times gives you longer time penalty) thats what Im getting and there is nothing I can do against them just hope they will end it and wont hold me hostage (sometimes even with other survivors) because they can and no one can do anything about it unless you have cheats with same abilities and get your self out of this or fight it but I havent seen it in live just only in one short where cheater killer met cheater survivor and their battle was legendary.

EU is a hellhole swamp during daytime hours. Often multiple lobbies in a row someone is just blatantly going underground in your face etc. I don't run much aura builds, but whenever I do, I spot the subtle ones too. Always speeding up that little bit behind corners, just enough to make it to the next vault.

There's no point in shouting about it. The devs are quietly and peacefully fighting them you won't even know about it since cheats are always gets detected and there are big banwaves for that so they will be banned soon or later. Why do you post about this every day? This is already funny to read, honestly, let's try to fix the balance instead.

Yes, I almost always see such threads on the front pages, you all write as if they will never be banned, they will be banned, believe me, any software gets detected sooner or later, they will get what they deserve, so calm down, and if you can't wait to ban them, then there is a ticket system through support!

Since the start of the year I have gone against 5 cheaters (that I could tell) and considering its 10th of January that means a cheater every 2 days, plus the fact that I don't play everyday so yeah it's pretty dissapointing. Just now I went against a guy that has been present for more than 3 months blatantly cheating with multiple tiktoks of people that went against him and he still isn't banned.

I've gone against very few blatant cheaters but I'm pretty sure my killer MMR recently went up and I'm seeing way more sus activates than I used to. I've had a lot of survivors suddenly speeding up mid-chse with either no exhaustion perks or no time for them to reset because they were running the whole time. I also seem to get someone with Shadow Step every time I play as Scratched Mirror Myers yet as soon as I switch killers there isn't a Shadow Step to be seen. Lots of instaheals with no medkits or healing perks too. So maybe this is partially a regional thing and partially an MMR thing, as people who cheat probably win, and winning will put you in a higher MMR bracket.

So youy do not play often, only 2 hours, but YOU do not see it so there is no problem… Classic. And since content creators are not raging about it (they did btw many times, just remember the walking dead stream) there's also no problem…

You know the problem is that
- We have to report them with video evidence, which is for most casual player is not an easy option. Since there is no replay system, and they admited that they have no log about anything what happens in the game.
- Most of the times it takes a long time (days, weeks) to ban them, and to be honest loosing a free account is not "what they deserve"
- The free Epic store let them make infinite accounts, so even if they get banned they just use another one
- On xbox also basicly they can have infinite accounts
- Since YEARS there is no server side validation on almost anything
Easy to say "calm down" when not you the one who get holding hostage, and get targeted for every game, or not you get doxed and harrassed by them.

Literally just got out of a game that was over in a minute against a Spirit live on Tiktok with every hack going. Just sat there with it on full display. Posts going back to August about the guy. How does this even happen?

Well they did when cheaters were destroying their lives like hens video about them like almost year ago was mostly due to 7cmprincess or what that guy is called because he lives from gaming and cheatesr were holding him hostage or he dc and got penalty even for days but now the big ones are I believe on white list which is some protection from devs which cheaters cant beat maybe but I think its only matter of time before there will be some content about cheaters.

Pretty much, worse thing is Im getting those cheaters that you cant beat unless you play some very strong killer or some busted combo that can battle them like bubbas iriflesh which can lock them in place (for each down it resets bubas charges) but how can i beat someone who can instantly heal up and do other x thing even freeze me in palce and other survivors or kill them (as survivor), the subtle ones are annoying to deal with but mostly they are super bad and missplay a lot and dont have busted cheats compare to these ones that are basicaly imortal and even hold you hostage if they want to. I have faced 4 of them in 10 days time window and like 3 subtle cheaters I know about but Idk for the rest and best part is like i came on some parties that play as friends with the cheater even have twitch or make titok for content so its nothing small but looks like it works and if devs are cooking something to deal with this Idk only thing i know is that they now placed more content creators that are targeted by cheaters into their "whitelist" to protect them but it doesnt reduce cheaters and doesnt solves the problem.

To this I'd add that our Switch cousins had their ability to record DBD removed several years back " for performance reasons" so I haven't a clue what they should do whenever they encounter a true hacker.

While there should always more protections against Cheaters and constantly being updated to prevent them.
Should DBD have an Avoid list?
20 Slots if you encounter a Cheater or someone you don't wanna encounter anymore you click "Avoid Player" and they'll get added to the avoid list and they can't be matched up with or against you for the next 30 days.

At this point, I don't think BHVR can do literally anything about hackers except slap bandaids on the problem and hope that people don't complain enough to make them look bad to investors or get frustrated enough to actually quit the game. Their code has literally zero server side validation, and I have a feeling it would require them to rewrite enormous sections of code to put in place simple basic validation like "Is this player running faster than they should? Does this player actually have the perk that was just used?" I mean for gods sake, the game doesn't even validate your perks, ever. You can literally join a DBD match with 100 perks equipped and the game doesn't even question it. That would seem like the most basic of checks to write into code but no, not even that is validated. From the ground up, the game is built around trusting the client completely because it used to be a peer-to-peer game, which eventually got dedicated servers. But despite this they seemingly didn't improve the server client architecture at all to take advantage of the security improvements that can had with dedicated servers that can validate what's being sent to prevent the most egregious forms of hacking like teleporting around, etc.
And with free DBD accounts from the brief free-to-keep weekend still being so accessible for hackers who have stockpiled thousands of accounts, plus how cheap the base DBD is in general, plus stolen accounts being sold for cheap, hackers don't even care if they get banned. It's not like it costs them anything, and because there's no replay system or anything, they have to get manually reported to even get banned, which can take weeks even for the most obvious hackers. And don't even get me started on somewhat obvious subtle cheaters that speed up around tiles. They never get banned, ever.
Literally the only thing preventing the average player from meeting miserable cheaters every single match is the sheer amount of regular players shielding them from being matchmade against the hackers, who are thankfully a tiny minority. But that doesn't excuse the fact that the game practically has zero actual anti cheat, zero server side validation of anything sent by any client, no replay system to catch cheaters and an outdated, old and inefficient reporting system.
I think what irks me the most about all this is that even things that should in theory be easy to fix are never even fixed. Like players getting perpetually sniped, even off stream, by cheaters scraping their DBD accounts online status and matchmaking data to snipe your lobby. I mean come on, why is that even possible? Just obfuscate and block that information from the client, why is this even a thing? Why should a cheater be able to see any players online status in all of DBD? Why can they see your private BHVR ID in plaintext when playing against you? Or see your Steam/Xbox/Playstation profile even though your Anon mode. Why is this information available to the client at all, the client doesn't need to know this. It's absurd that nothing has been done about this yet, at least what should be rather simple fixes.

I think it could still be possible we can just lower the amount of available slots down to like 10 and then it'll be fine you won't be able to avoid every ghoul.
Those slots will remain filled for 30 days so if your wasting slots for killers you dont like to vs kinda on you when you get hackers and can't avoid them and let's be honest this system is kinda needed some people need to be hit with that avoid button.

I would prefer to run into an instant mori than into subtle cheaters to be honest.
If you get mori in a second its not a big deal, game ends instantly and you can queue up again.
Subtle cheaters are making me more mad, because they try to drag the game as long as possible.

You have no idea do you? I, among many others, have proof that blatant cheaters aren't getting banned. Not even a YEAR after multiple reports, so the argument that they go with banwaves is 100% nonsense. I am actually actively monitoring steam accounts, which I have personally reported with BLATANT VIDEO EVIDENCE, and they are still playing to this day. And I rly do mean blatant bots that teleport and insta down the entire lobby in under 10secs.
I wonder how you will rationally still defend BHVR after hearing this? Truly curious, honest question. I'll just assume you have no idea how neglectant BHVR is.
What DBD needs at this point is server side checks, cause obviously cheaters are rampant and they cant keep up with reports. And I don't even blame them for that, but they actually do have to fix the problem, right now.

There is a lot of subtle cheaters that get information of the killer before the game aswell.
Did you ever notice that people bring perfect perks against your killer?
Dramaturgy and finesse against your bubba? Iron Will, off the record and fixated against your spirit?Well I noticed. I only verse Iron Will when I play spirit. Never saw it on different killers.
I am 100% sure that a lot of people get this info but do not cheat in game. This needs to be looked into aswell please.
I am on the road to p100 spirit (54/100) and this happens too often.

Hackers have so many accounts that losing one doesn’t matter to them, and the game is on sale all the time anyway.
If bhvr just did something proactive, to prevent the cheating in the first place instead, but that cost money, and it’s not like players are constantly throwing $10 at the game so BHVR can fund that kind of anticheat.

Had a few blatant cheaters and subtles in one month. Last time I saw a cheater was in may 2v8 so definitely something going on.

I think those insta killing killer cheaters sound better but in reality all they do is that you have super fast hame that doesnt waste your time but in reality you will get ban or more penalty because you died too fast and game considers it as giving up which sucks because anti go next is good thing but bad think cheaters can use this to spread killer bots and cause pain to other players by giving them penalties due to dying way faster.
Subtles are pain but the most cheaters I killed were subtle because they dont use those hacks that cant be beaten and they are generaly super bad even with wallhacks and speeding behind corners.

Cheaters have consistently ruined my game experience the entire time I've played this game since the Oni's release. They've just gotten more subtle about it. BHVR is always behind on fixes and anti-cheat updates. It's been 9.5 years and they have never considered investing in better cheat detection. It dissuades me from buying any cosmetics and causes me to usually take entire patch cycles / months off the game. Their solution is always "here's more cosmetics for $15-20". It's embarrassing on the devs part. They put the burden of stopping the cheating on the average player instead of doing their duty to provide and fair, un-cheated service/game.

I dont have personal experience with this but people claim its still up and they are getting time penalties from those fast deaths (under minute) which I belive its still up because if it wasnt I guarantee i would had have more survivors giving up and going next (for ban hammer moderators I dont spread here goingnext or giving up and Im not promoting it either).

I don't think it is even possible now to die under a minute other than by being mori'd by a cheater. So if it's true, people are essentially being punished for being matched with a cheater, as it is the only realistic trigger for this type of punishment at the moment.
