I haven't seen Xenomorph for 2 years. No joke.
Out of all the horror franchises, Alien is my most favorite one. I P100'd Ellen Ripley and, of course, Xenomorph but I play 90% Survivor and 10% Killer. I was bummed out Ellen Ripley didn't have the face likeness of the real actor but what disappoints me the most is there is nobody playing Xenomorph besides me apparently lol
I can understand why nobody does though. The fact that Xeno isn't a real stealth killer and Xeno's power can be disabled by turrets. Unlike the movies, Xeno has no chance to get close to anybody without the damn turret peeping from miles away with its motion tracker. There is also a chance a tail attack doesn't always register. The nerf to his tail attack also did numbers to him.
I'm unsure how to change Xenomorph without making it overpowered or underpowered. His power is burdensome to balance due to the turrets and whatnot.
Adding undetectable outside the tunnels wouldn't make any difference due to the motion tracker from turrets. Making his tail faster but turrets stronger would make or break his power. Adding additional gamemode stuff like Facehuggers is funny but strange since it would instantly kill survivors.
Do you, perhaps, have a good idea for Xenomorph?

For starters, I would revert the slowdown nerf he got alongside the bug fix for his missed tail attacks.

Top 5 least played killer I think he is still there (on nightlight its more in top 10 least played killers but in general stats i believe he is even lower and maybe still in top 5) after his buffs and it doesnt surprise me kinda stressfull killer with turrets and not many survivors like him.

For me he's just boring to play as

The turrets are too annoying for me to play them with any regularity. Any game against halfway decent survivors is a turret simulator. It's tedious

I think the main issue with Xeno's pick rate is that killers with short-range projectiles have become a pretty saturated archetype. We've got Nemesis, Unknown, Dracula, Springtrap, and more. They're all either stronger or less punishing.
So why would anyone want to play the one which lets survivors burn you out of your power? It's frustrating and demanding of the player, which immediately puts off people from learning it when the other options exist.
I think without changes in that "losing your power" aspect, Xeno won't ever really stand out again. Unless Xeno was much stronger in other areas, which isn't the right way imo.
1 -
Xeno is the chillest killer in the roster. If nothing works out, you can just hide in the tunnels where the survivors can't hurt you! Almost like the Nurse hiding behind the gates, but better.

too balanced. people don't wanna play a killer that pre warns survivor to encourage pre running, and people don't wanna give survivors an effective Sprint Burst as turrets are chase killers.
it's sad because they are the right power level. When Lights Out was around I was insisting they were the most fun killer to face in that mode(I played it as a favour to survivors being bullied by legion)

Chucky came out right after Xeno and stole all the thunder. Also helps that Chucky can't have his power taken away, has built in stealth, and a better anti loop power
0 -
hmmm i wonder why?
maybe its bc of:
#1 super oppresive counterplay
#2 mediocre anti loop
#3 bad camera placement
#4 map mobility thats still rng
#5 meh addons4 -
One of the worst killers on console.
Turrets are too strong and you spend most of the game as m1 killer.
Nerf turrets to 180 degree swing not 360 as you can't even sneak past/behind them.
Ruined licence.
2 -
Cant dissagree he is just to punishing and stressfull and very dependent on fov settings (small fov makes his tail take huge part of your screen plus the fact his camera is lower in tunner mode doesnt make this very enjoyable).
I still think his chase power is better than nemesis due to injuring directly and dealing way better against bodyblocking but the turrets just kill his stealth compleatly and waste his time too much which makes people to not play him not to mention he is one of worst killers to play as on controllernso only mk can play him without hindering his potencial significantly.
His latest buffs were nice but he still isnt zhat oppressive and feels more like playing as xeno that is missing two legs.

Xeno is just a very bland killer. It's got a very generic M2. It can travel between gens. That's it.

Sadly there's just nothing interesting about Xenomorph to make me wanna play him I was just expecting more from them to do with the license involving like eggs and facehuggers and chest bursters.
But instead we just got Alien with Tail anti loop and dealing with turrets is just a chore I like the tunnels though and btw Xenomorphs are know for there stealth and tactical ambushes yet there's nothing in xenomorphs kit that has stealth not even addons which btw are just bland except like two addons.
1 -
Yeah this sums it up. Not only is the M2 just a lame spear, it feels awful on console and I bet is the main reason Xeno's pickrate is so low.
The tp was compared a lot to Demo on release, but even newer content like Springtrap plays similar in execution to Xenomorph tunnels. There just isn't much of a reason to her over other killers.
Honestly, this is one of those few cases where I feel like a Myer's Slaughtering Strike esque rework would be fitting, provided the original playstyle is still available as an addon.

I was the same way, big fan of avp since childhood, got xeno to p100 but ripley.. she just feels like an original survivor cosplaying as ripley. I still play xeno every once in a while and im comfortable playing xeno as its probably my best killer, but when xeno came out i mustve overplayed them because their mmr skyrocketed to a level where every other killer on my list got bumped up to a new softcap or whatever they call it, and xeno is now 90% swf/swat/bully teams and 10% normal soloque rounds making him very frustrating to play since his biggest weakness is teams coordinating turret placement.
I wouldnt mind a rework to the whole thing. He could be a stealth killer or something or the facehuggers could be a deathtimer effect like pigs traps, but if u think about resident evil infections survivors should be dead from those too but have antidotes readily available lol so they could probably throw in some kinda automated surgical removal stations or something that you can be pulled out of like the jigsaw boxes.

Well Xeno is in a weird spot right now.
The first thing I want to compare with him is Demo (which is kinda strange…)
Demo feels like Xeno just better and before the lynching starts here me out.
Xeno like Demo got a map wide teleport but with huge differences. First of all Demo is free to place them where he pleases, Yes the portals can be destroyed but it take a chunk of time from Survivors which is passiv game slowdown which feels kinda interactive (do you take time to cripple his mobility?) and… I can´t stretch this out far enough. The TP feels much faster. Set new portal, look into the direaction BAMM you are there.
Xenos teleport feels slow as hell. You need to go to a certain place to pop out another place and the worst part of this is you have to nagivate yourself through a labyrinth and yes I know you can activate a pathfinder but be real. If you need a pathfinder to activate your ability… is this good design at all?
Another thing is the outplay potential at pallets. Both Killers are good to get you mid animation with your ability. The huge difference is that you can hit a Survivor after the vault as Xeno but this attack can be dodged by just instant crouching most of the time. Demo in the other hand gets value of his shredd all the time. Either you get the hit like Xeno does or you shredd the pallet which Xeno has to do maniually after that.
Alteast there is the bully factor to Xeno with his turrets and boy I can tell you. From time to time I read claims that the turrets should be able to save survivors which in my humble opinion would make Xeno the least played Killer if it ever would go live.

I wont lych you here but i have to dissagree with most of things because to my oppinion you are comparing old apple that is getting to expire date to rotten one.

The TP feels much faster. Set new portal, look into the direaction BAMM you are there. The xenos teleport isnt instant but he has tracking in it that is solid and has his tunnel exits around key points (gens) and chest no longer counter it as they did before. Demo has faster teleport but his time waste for placing it is way bigger than the time survivor has to spend to destroy it not to mention his teleports are super outdated in many ways compare to xeno whose only donwback is something that didnt went through his last buffs and thats faster exit time from his tunnels but thats because of it was bugged and devs coudnt fix it (which is quite sad because he needs that exit speed for ambush that is already greatly destroyed by turrets beeping that just tell survivors if you are coming closer to them which sucks).
Demos portals are only slightly bigger slowdown for survivors as dissarming trappers traps only difference is that it takes longer but demo still doesnt benefit that much from it more looses becuase 10 seconds of one survivors time compare to his 15 or more isnt good trade off tbh.

If you need a pathfinder to activate your ability… is this good design at all?Its slow but the tracking kinda covers it and shame is the stealth of his ambush from his tunnel isnt better, compare to demo you have to go mostly little off your own way if you want that tp to stay longer because survivors will destroy it if its open and visiable and than when you wnat to use it you need to walk to your palced tp or palce another one (key thing you have limited tps and they cant overwrite the placed ones like hags or singularities traps/biopods so you dont have free hands with this too and your options are limited on wery weak power) and only thing that is better here is traveling speed from point A to B but you dont have that element of surprise as xeno has and survivors get global warning plus 5 seconds of oblivious status after using your own tp is just nothing.

Either you get the hit like Xeno does or you shredd the pallet which Xeno has to do maniually after that.I highly dissagree with this take. Xeno has to deal with turrets thats fact but his tail is way better in antiloop than huntress and deffinitely more than demo because it can be doged but unlike nemi it can be draged and xeno doesnt loose distancce when he is hitting with his tail (he suffers cooldown afterhit or miss after he used it), you can outplay way more loops with xenos tail than with demos dash because demo still suffers from crouch tech the most from all killers it effects and he has camera lock after using his dash (shread) for breaking the pallet or getting hit and its easy to doge in the open, it has to be charged for longer shots and if you are holding m2 and you fall you will reset it even from single step (same like wesker when he grabs survivor and just falls from even slightes elevation, very annoying thing) so his dash isnt stronger only upsade it has is the breaking ability but compare to meni in tier 2 (whi is same as xeno with antiloop at this point) its nothing plus its single straight dash which isnt very usefull around round lopps that arent made from straight objects like walls, cars.
Alteast there is the bully factor to Xeno with his turrets and boy I can tell you. From time to time I read claims that the turrets should be able to save survivors which in my humble opinion would make Xeno the least played Killer if it ever would go live.Only positive thing that works on demo is his shread and thats why 99% of demo players run his only two addons that buff his shread cooldown after breaking because his tp are trash and probably worst tp in the game.
I think you should compare demo to springtrap and even xeno at this point because you chose very outdated killer (demo) and springtrap is newer killer who isnt outdated and his tp has more simularities with both of these killers than just xeno and demo has.

People get mad over the turrets being a basekit counter when most ppl just refuse to use them, or use them effectively.
I fear he will turn into a singu which his counter weapon is nerfed so hard that, its not worth doing unless the one chased knows how to use it...which is rare.
I wish survivors got handheld because playing with clueless people sucks so bad.
1 -
I think its a case of them not being very interesting/fun to play. It doesn't matter how strong/balanced a killer is, if they're not fun to play then players won't want to touch them.
We have several lower tier killers who are played more than higher tier killers who are undoubtedly more viable, but they're just not much fun to play e.g. Artist, Krasue, Twins, Singularity etc.
Fun is always the leading reason people play killers. Who wants to play a killer they're not enjoying.
1 -
What's funny to me is that springtrap basically powercrept both the xenomorph and demogorgon.
Survivors for one can't disable your power, only a slight hinderance when they lock on cameras but that also means the survivor who is using the camera is not doing a generator. They can also use the doors to traverse the map but they risk getting grabbed by springtrap.
Springtrap, in my opinion, has a better anti-loop than both of them and he can be undetectable whenever he wants.
2 -
Also Stealth perks on alien are useless which i would love to run because Turrets let survivors know either way if im on my way to them lol
5 -
His kit is just not interesting to play as (and against, for that matter). There indeed isn't much that can be done without reworking the killer from scratch. Compensating an overtuned M2 attack with a prop system on the map is simply not a thrilling design although it is kind of unique, admittedly.
-1 -
Xenomorph is worse in every single way, especially if you compare him to killers that do way better than xenomorph.
His tail attack? Boring and sucks. His music? Generic and sucks. No excitement whatsoever. Turrets? Mediocre. This awful FoV pisses me off too.

Maybe I just watch a lot of streamers with an affinity for the Xenomorph!
-4 -
Because he is boring to play as thanks to free hits with tail attack most annoying m2 to vs essentially deletes most loops
-5 -
Release a fun killer who is fun to play as and "against". Even increase the price, but make the gameplay as and against him interesting, add more gameplay features when we face him, not a dash slop (Shape, Pig, Chucky, Kaneki) or ranged attacks (Vecna).
-3 -
How can you watch streamers playing xenomorph without falling asleep? But then again, that's probably the only time anyone will ever see a xenomorph in the first place but not from the survivor's perspective. Lmao.
-2 -
I watch 99% of streams for the community they offer, moreso than anything!
-3 -
These streamers you watch must be entertaining enough to distract you from xenomorphs gameplay unless you meant you watch streamers that play a variety of killers not just xenomorph.
-3 -
I thought about this before and I think a way Xenomorph could be changed so that stealth builds are possible is to make the flamethrowers only detect xenomorph while in tunnels.

I think survivors should have motion tracker device. You know the green big device? I don't know but we could make something cool out of it. In Alien: Isolation, the device would often glitch in Nightmare mode.
Remove the motion tracker from turrets and only have a 180° pivot but make the turret stronger. Rework xenomorph addons.

Let a Balrog enjoy some content! 🤗

he is a ton of fun to face, which is sad that it's hard to convince people to play them. turrets are fun!
