New modifier idea - 1v4v4

This is a random idea that I had for a while. The idea first popped in my head when i think of those sandbag tournaments that YouTubers would do and thought “what if I expand on that”.

So there is only 1 killer in a large map (could be the same maps as the 2v8 trials) and a lot of generators (could be the same 13). And 8 survivors. The twist being, as the name suggests, there are 2 teams of survivors. Their main goal is to be the first team to complete 5 generators and escape.

it should be mentioned that while the survivors can see which other survivors are on their team in their hud, the killer can’t. This is to avoid favoring one side over the other.

So each team has to repair up to 5 of the 13 generators in the map. Survivors can also sabotage the other team’s generator by either failing skill checks or either just bringing the killer towards the gen to get them off.

if one team finishes 5 gens first and opens an exit gate, no matter if the other team hasn’t finished their generators, all generators will still be blocked. Similar to blood warden, the entity would block the exit gate for the other team.

The match will end when either all survivors from the winning team (whether sacrificed or escaped) are out of the match, leaving the loosing team to die to the entity, or if somehow, the killer manages to kill all survivors from one team, which results in the other team winning the match from surviving longer .

Obviously this idea still needed some tweaks but I just wanted to share this idea that I had for a while. Sorry for the long rant and poor explanation.

So killer has to play a 1v8? Why would they want to do that, it makes no sense.

It sounds almost like the 5v5 mode that was proposed on a survey once, and I've been waiting for it. They proposed two teams of four Survivors and one Killer, and the Survivors would play tug-of-war on the gens. I assume the Killers would chase and hook the four Survivors of the opposing team, but they didn't specify that part. I've been wanting this idea to come to life, because I love the idea of Survivors teaming up with a Killer for a change.

Even if you got killers to play it (though you also need a massive survivor to killer ratio), the game would heavily decided based on just who the killer runs into. If someone on your team did an absolutely amazing chase, that benefits the other team just as much.

So… you think it would be a good idea to play the "sandbag" game in a casual queue? With the same community which goes mental breakout or tries to normalize a dc when something doesn´t go as they want it to go?

Now, if it was put in the way you proposed, it would be very unappealing for the killer.

Now, a normal 5 player variant, maybe. Potentially make it so the last one standing wins.

This would be an impossible task for BHVR.

It isn’t realistic right now. It would require a major server-side overhaul and a level of work BHVR hasn’t shipped yet… sadly, that doesn’t seem to be a current priority.

I tried to make it as an original Gamemode by only having one killer, but now thinking and reading these replies, it’s sounding like that 5v5 Gamemode suggestion. And my idea was to have the survivors sabotage each other to counteract the fact that the one killer has to face 8 survivors.
I also took inspiration from those zone control games (I forget which games) where you capture a zone and the more areas you control, the more points you get to your team. I woulda mentioned that but I forgot what games had that mechanic to even compare it to.

i like the idea, 2 separate killers que up, ends up in a lobby of 8 players, means 2 different lobbies which que up as a team/or randoms, each team is getting 1 of the killers on their side of the team and the match start for both sides, those with the bigger score wins, could be fun.
