Distortion buff when?
you all have made more and more aura perks every single killer I have faced is using full aura builds but distortion was such a problem. Then you go make a useless survivor perk for aura readers, but yet doesn’t negate the aura at all like distortion, you knew we were tired of aura and what do you do? Oh we will make even more aura perks. Survivor role is so stressful nowadays, you have to do everything right or the whole match is down the toilet. I’m sorry but I’m not a streamer nor am I in the comp teams. I play to have fun. Survivor role is not fun. At all. I’m not even a killer main and it’s like you all want killers to not even have skill anymore. I can go in and easily get 4ks and I don’t even play the killer role like that. I do dabble in it but like I said it’s so easy as a killer. The game is so toxic. Please buff distortion and nerf the first! Like what the heck!!!

The implication that the Killer role has become skill-less because information-based perks exist and you face easier matches in that role since you barely play it is untrue and, genuinely, condescending.

Lol never, killers need to crutch on their aura to replace their game sense, that was much more obvious when og UW came out.

Your us vs. them mentality does not make for a productive discussion.

With the new token gain requirement, I don't see anything wrong with this perk having two tokens to start

The ENTIRE reason why distortion got a chase condition and not a generator condition to this day.
Is BECAUSE killer mains 1. Got it nerfed.
And 2. No survivor said to "make it a chase condition" knowing that if they did that, the perk would die and no one would use it
The reason why it even became reworked that way, because killer mains suggested it to be reworked that way...even though they have no clue how to use it or why people use it.
Which is why, the new distortion does not, ever work, noir will it fit even if you buff it, because no one who wants to hide wants to be chased and no one who wants to be chased wants to be hidden. It just makes no sense to suggest it when you know how the perk works and why it works.
Its like giving killers gen-regression per people healing on hook. It makes no sense.
Killers got this perk assainated and will never recover if it means that "people can rat more" or "i cant spam my 40 auras", even though they can still do it and still counter it with lockers.
Its not an us vs them to say "survivors got sm gutted" its just factually true.

I do miss old Distortion. I hate that BHVR basically decided that all survivors must play a certain playstyle and stealth isn’t allowed anymore. The hide-and-seek aspect of the game is what made me love the game in the first place and then BHVR decided to nuke it for whatever reason. The biggest problem with Distortion was rat players, but BHVR decided to take the easy way out and punish everyone instead of actually coming up with an MMR system that makes sense. If you’re ratting, your MMR score should reflect the fact that you do nothing but hide in matches and punish you with worse and worse teammates in your next matches. Instead, MMR rewards rat players who end up escaping. Fixing the MMR scoring system is the solution but for years now BHVR has refused to do this.

The "rats" argument that got Distortion and Wake Up! nerfed were never real. Sure rats exist, but the true purpose was that Survivors could counter strong aura builds (to an extent) and they were able to open the gates too fast. Bearing that in mind, in order to get a Distortion buff through we'd have to wait for BHVR to decide Survivors are due for an anti-aura meta which would probably be short-lived or aura reading on Killer would have to get SO overbearing that it represents a vast majority of players and therefore they'd grace us with maybe a reversion-in-PTB-turned-slight-buff-in-live update.
Long story short, it probably won't happen. As we've seen, it's harder to get something back once it's taken away.

"Killers got this perk assainated." "Yes, i know survivors also wanted it nerfed."
This level of logical inconsistency is unreal.

It just needs to go back to the way it was. Pointless nerf, imo.

Because there is always a small part who wants their own perks nerfed.
Theres is always a killer who did ask for gm being gutted or gen-regression nerfed.
MAJORITY was killer who want distortion nerf.
Also, glad you arent discussing and just point out one thing and then say nothing else to what i said.
Kinda hypocritical to "Your us vs. them mentality does not make for a productive discussion"
Then proceed to skip most of it. While also preaching us vs them in other discussion.
And before anyone asks "why bring up his other discussions" he brought up the us vs them, which will always exists regardless. You always defend or side with one thing. Thats unavoidable and pointless to say.
Especially in a "discussion" setting.

They could just buff other underused perks with Aura blocking instead of making one perk block all auras.
Examples include Cut loose, low profile, Self-Preservation, rapid response, Parental Guidance

If we're complaining about aura reading making a role unskilled, are we also going to nuke perks like Windows?

Old Distortion was bad for the game and I will continue to say it. It encouraged tunnelling, discouraged altruism and dragged games out for too long, with Survivors just hiding instead of engaging with game objectives and Killers having no reason not to bring 4 slowdown perks.
The actual problem right now is that Nowhere to Hide is too strong and high-mobility Killers benefit from aura perks more than anyone else. Two relatively simple fixes– making Nowhere to Hide static around the generator instead of following the Killer and making Nurse, Blight and Ghoul unable to see auras while using their abilities– would greatly reduce their oppressiveness while not making life miserable for the weaker Killers who get caught in the crossfire of sweeping changes.

Either give distortion more tokens or reduce the chase time needed to gain a token.
Make it toggable to allow the user to consume stacks when they want to.
Give the perk a visual indicator to let the user know WHEN their aura is being read when the perk is turned off.
These changes will make distortion better overall and give added agency to it's users without it undermining the rest of their team. The old distortion was just simply too unhealthy if you didn't use it.

Your argument is so weak that there is nothing else to discuss since what I brought up makes it immediately crumble underneath its own weight.
Pointing out an obvious logical inconsistency is not "us vs.them"; it's not me taking a side of a role, no matter what. I've called out the nonsensicality of complaints about Killer strategies and called for certain nerfs to The First. I care about balance and health. You accusing me of anything else is just projection on your part.

Hopefully they revert it. Current distortion is so pointless and it wasn‘t even a good perk before. All it did was allowing a different playstile, but I guess everything has to be about chases nowadays and stealth is off the table.

I agree. I thought it was fine

I haven't seen anyone ask to nerf aura perks. They just want a reliable counter to them. More blindness perks for killers would be helpful against perks like Windows, but that would be a different thread

When it will be needed ?
With the addition of Vecna we can discuss about that if he is realy picked and stay the same for an moment and if others aura-related killers joins

- Disclaimer: I'm a player in love with OoO and use it in every game. Now "We See You" is out, and you can imagine I'm feeling really on honeymoon right now. 🤣 Yes, "Distortion" needs a buff; it should start with 3 tokens, but you can ONLY recharge them in chases. As usual, when Devs nerf a survivor perk, they don't just "fix" it, they destroy it directly.🤣
