MMR REWORK Questions and Opinions.
was MMR rework planned for Feb 2026?
will the mmr become strict so we can get people of similar skill level ?
i hope there will be strict mmr so best vs best, casual vs casual, this would solve the pub stomping grounds hopefully.
i will rather wait 5min for a match but get people of the same level as me all the time, than get people of random rng.

It would be nice to not see prestige 100 killer when I'm mediocre survivor player on a good day. But i worry about the queue times.

So many things that BHVR has said they’re going to work on in their roadmaps have either been delayed or abandoned, I just don’t even pay attention to them anymore. Matchmaking/skill measurement has been broken for years now, so it’s clearly not a priority for BHVR to work on.

*It's a mistake to say that the MMR system isn't functioning.
*The correct way to say it is: I've been using it incorrectly until now.
*It's been steadily improving for the past four years.
*Let's wait and see.

You dont need to be a good player to be p100.

No but there is a correlation to people putting that much effort into a character and getting better at the game. You do get the odd bad p100 but most of them are pretty solid

I believe they are not working on it, since why would they? It wouldn't bring new profit, and the playerbase seems completely fine with what they have now, they still happily buy all the newly released content with wide open mouths, so no reason to bother and rework anything.
And that thing about the traffic sounds like something just broke again.

*Unfortunately, people want a lot of BP in a short amount of time, and if their wishes come true, Prestige P100s are likely to become a sham.
*Currently, you can get 250,000 BP once a week.
*That's 1,000,000 in a month.
※It's become easier.

They should remove lobby shopping. People quit too often to find a better lobby.
Maybe they should add an optional que for stricter mmr. So you can decide between fast or better matchmaking.
And lastly maybe they should count the team result for the survivor. If i die and everyone lives, it should be a win.

Since the free weekend ive been getting day 1 survivors on almost every killer i havent touched in a while. And i mean p0 dwight with 2 green perk slots and visibly never looks behind them in their 10 second chases. Started to get to a point where i do 8 hooks and then kill everyone but the new guy and chase them around the map pretending im missing lol till they find the hatch. Meanwhile ive got like 8 p100s and all the achievements and challenges and the mmr thinks because i havent touched singularity in a couple months , im a good pick for dwights first day lol.
Aside from the mmr update ive also been waiting to hear about the prestige rewards, both were marked to start "February and onwards"

*This is because we recognize you as a player with the potential to improve the game experience for less experienced players.
*It's okay if less experienced players can't escape.
*The important thing is that new players have a good game experience.
I'm sure you've always played as fairly as possible.

I don't think they'll be tightening it. Last time they tried even just a slight tightening they got backlash from content creators. Happy to be proven wrong but I doubt it. My guess is they might just change how MMR is gained and removed. Maybe base it on hooks and team contributions? Who knows

There's something that content creators need to realize soon. While some viewers are interested in winning or losing, there's value in the people who gather around you because they love you as a content creator and will walk alongside you.

- I'm really "afraid" of the MMR improvement. Because many times I encounter mediocre killers who win only because they're favored by the current crazy MMR. So the "average killer" will start to struggle to win and this will only mean further buffs for the killer. I'd prefer to leave it as it is.🤣

They need to. Last time I played I was with my extremely casual friends. (like a few hundred hours.) We literally got matched with Momo in one of our games. There's bad matchmaking and then there is this. Bowing down to content creators IMO is one of the worst things about the current state of the game.
3 -
Why? Is it because they are finally playing against people of equal skill level and therefore failing to get even 10 wins in a row? Unimportant really. If anything, a stricter MMR would make winstreaks more interesting to watch because then they would be winning against actually good players.

the fun part is that they will start to use full meta builds instead of comp builds, and even then they will lose to giga sweaty comp nurses/blights, even hidden gems will be shown(unknown good players).

- you're right, I forgot... Literally video after video of content creators complaining about the new MMR being too "accurate"🤣

Are you sure? Did they change it again? Last thing i know is the change that you lose less mmr if your team escapes.

I have gotten quite a few of those myself. Brand new players with like 10 hours or less.
That should never occur in reality, when considering my own 2000+ hours of gametime3 -
nothing has changed, mmr is still scored per individual, bloodpoints are still scored per individual, escapes are still counted per individual. Therefore it is possible for the killer to win (3k) and 1 survivor to win if they escape.
Personally its this individual aspect of the game that makes it playable…. we all know how soloq is awful with having bad team mates that cant last 10sec in chase or people simply doing challenges instead of gens… luckily this does not effect me as much due to being scored as an individual not a team. i dread to think what would happen if it was based on the team, 1 griefer and its all over. 1 guy goes next, its over. 1 guy does totems instead of gens….good luck team.

As i recall, some of the arguments were that they need to be able to engage with their chat and they can't if they're going against difficult opponents. Another was that they go easier on their opponents if they can tell they're not that good, and if they had opponents on their level then they'd have no choice but to go hard. So basically the feedback had nothing to do with the health of the game, just how it impacts them personally.
1 -
Solution: engage with the chat and lose. Crazy to ask for easy matches so you can give it half your attention AND win.
6 -
we agree on something lol. its almost like a casual player saying they want to meme around, give the match half their attention AND still win.

This game doesnt revolve around the streamers who play this game for a job. There is the rest 98% of players who want decent matchmaking that prioritizes player enjoyment and match fairness as expected in a multiplayer game. If the devs actually changed MMR because of these feedback, that's sad and ignorant.

I don't know if they did end up backtracking on it at the time. I enjoy watching our DBD streamers (am currently watching one right now in fact) and of course they are entitled to their opinions on game changes. But I think they're also very aware they can have a big influence on the game, and some aren't afraid to leverage that for their own benefit. The general vibe of the community has seemed really negative over the past year, I just really want to see the health of the game prioritized. If they're going to address matchmaking then they need to do it properly.

Balancing killers and perks around a strict MMR is healthier for a competitive game than trying to tune the entire game environment based on a chaotic MMR system.

*Additional Note
* Malicious players exist, and this is not limited to this game. *They exist on both the survivor and killer sides. *This is also a measure against players who target inexperienced players and new players and try to match them in various ways. *As such, a player with a high MMR is not necessarily a skilled player. *As such, it may be impossible to visualize MMR.

Its already like that. If my team sucks, 5 gens wont get done. I could try to get a draw with hatch, but thats completely reliant on the killer not slugging. And its really boring.

A couple of things to point out here...
1. There is no win/loss according to the game...it's simply sacrificed or escaped. True, hatch is neutral MMR but do people care about an invisible number? It's more common to go by the escaped/sacrificed, even when looking at escape rates, hatch escapes are included regardless of MMR.
2. Hatch escapes count towards adepts and other challenges so I wouldn't consider it a draw when the hatch escapes grants you a completed challenge.
3. It seems that people create their own win/loss criteria in dbd... There are some that only consider a 4k a win, some consider 3k a win. Some people consider it a win if they die but 3 other survivors escape (even though the one that died loses MMR), some consider escape via any means a win, some consider hatch to be a draw, some consider it a win because they escaped. With this in mind, if you consider escaping via any means a win then it's very much possible to win even with useless team mates.
4. When considering the hatch as a draw and neutral MMR, you need to bare in mind that abandons are neutral MMR too. Why bother trying for hatch when you could throw yourself at the killer, get downed and abandon to get the same result? This is why I consider hatch escapes a win.
This is how I view the game, escape via any means necessary is a win for me, gate escape is survivor equivalent of killer getting 4k. Unanimous win. Hatch escape is survivor equivalent to killer getting 3k....a win but not as big of a win as the 4k or the gate escape. The draw is being last man standing and failing to get the hatch due to being able to abandon. That's my view on it anyway. Others will have different views.

You did write a lot about it and it would be maybe fun to argue about it, but here its pointless. This is a mmr discussion.
It doesnt matter what you feel about wins/losses/draws. A hatch escape is a draw in the mmr system. Thats a fact. It doesnt matter, whether people care about it or not (pretty pointless to write a post for a mmr-discussion then), its just a fact.
So why do you care if (in theory) they change the mmr-results to team-results? Its just an invisible number. You can still freely decide your win-condition.
1 -
if we are going strictly by MMR standards then hatch is redundant because you can draw simply by being last man standing, i take a draw over a loss any day so if i get 3 useless team mates im good with a draw to maintain my MMR until i get better team mates. last player can standing can never lose according to MMR. So as long as i make sure im the last player standing my MMR will never drop as a result of my team mates.
If they changed it so MMR is effected by the team then its highly likely that the team losing will cause me to lose too….unless they keep abandons as a draw in MMR terms which would defeat the purpose of scoring everyone as a team.
My own interpretation of escape = win is based on the fact that every other aspect is scoring people as individuals…so its logical to follow that pattern and consider it a win when i escape. If it was changed to team based scoring for MMR then its a slow road to team based blood points and truly makes the hatch pointless, then there would be very little logical grounds to go by for a personal escape being a win which means a team could could cause me to lose, not draw as it currently is, but actually lose.
Not only that but disregarding the hatch, i have escaped via gates many times after killer has closed the hatch…gate escapes are a win according to MMR….making it a team based MMR scoring would mean that potential win would be impossible due to my own team mates throwing the match.

Prestige =/= skill

I understand. Losing no mmr in this matches is my only goal. Bc i play for fun and i have less fun if i get useless teammates.
But there is a limit for me. If its too unfun. For example i wont stealth against the other last survivor to get the hatch. Doing that for minutes is more annoying than the worse teammates i get for losing mmr.

I've got news for you, the vast majority of P100 killers also are mediocre at best.
