Are gen kick perks like eruption even worth it anymore? Is anybody still using them?
Unless somebody is running an extremely fast killer like blight or ghoul, who can kick a gen and zip right after a survivor, I'm struggling to justify running gen kick perks. Which is a shame, because I use to get a lot of value out of perks like eruption and overcharge. Especially overcharge. I definitely feel like I'm at an mmr level where survivors could hit skill checks blind folded, so stuff like merciless storm, overcharge and oppression are much risked to run.
I often have survivors prerun on me, the second they hear a terror radius they're off into Narnia somewhere. So I often come across generators with survivors gone. (Doesnt help that i play slower killers.) So it is awfully tempting to bring a perk that let's me get value out of kicking it. I've tried nowhere to hide, but I never found it all that useful against "good hiders."
Right now I'm leaning more toward surge. No kick but still a gen explosion. But it's not as good on certain maps and survivors will run you away from working generators when they know you have it. Plus you can only regress a gen so many times, and you could end up wasting all your events on a gen fairly early if survivors keep going down next to it.
Would you say chase or hook perks are a better investment than slow down for an m1 killer?

I've been using Oppression pretty religiously these days usually to combo with Unforeseen.
i don't touch eruption because it limits the gens too fast. I just want to use things like Unforeseen or machine learning but eruption and surge put those perks on a timer. I miss using Surge in every build

No sadly no. Kicking the Gens in General is useless now tbh. You waste so much time doing so. Yes it regresses the Gen but They can just remove it in like 5secs so what's the point. I use Surge because It does it for me and it does more then One Gen.

Depends on the rest of your Build. E.g. if you run PGTW it might be worth pairing it with Eruption. Or if you run Nowhere to Hide, running Eruption is still an option to get more value out of kicks when you are kicking Gens anyway.
IMO Pain Res or Surge are more popular nowadays, but given that some Killers dont really get value out of Surge, Eruption is an option.
According to nightlight it is the 15th most used Perk with almost 7% pickrate, so it is still popular. And given that Nowhere to hide (12,91%) and PGTW (12,87%) are the number 3 and number 4 used Perk, Gen Kick Perks are indeed popular.

Turn back the clock makes these perks alot more viable now thanks to the remote kick after every kick and its insane how much value you can get out of it.

I run gen kick builds on several of my killers and they've been working great, combo eruption, pop and nowhere to hide makes for easy hits/chases and good regression.
Kick a gen to apply pop and prepare eruption, get a free hit with nowhere and follow up for a down and to trigger eruption. Add trail of torment for extra fun. Nobody expects stealth nemesis 🤣
I did try something janky with oppression and dms to try and block gens from a distance but didn't work too well, like any build that uses oppression really 🙃

Eruption can be worth, but you basically need rest of the build around it. So you have perks to work on kicking gens (Nowhere to hide, PGTW)
You have to be aware you are going to run out of regression tokens fast tho. Never use it with Surge…0 -
eruption hasn't been worth it since i found out the 8 kick limit existed since it takes 2 regression events

yea, killers really got the shaft with the 3 gen nerf. cause I guess defending the last 3 gens was considered "holding the game hostage".

Nope no kick gen perk is worth it

No, the problem was never to defend the last 3 Gens, the problem was that Killers were 3-genning from the start. And since those Killers also decided to never commit chases and basically only stay in their 3-gen, it was indeed holding the game hostage.
And honestly, Killers got the better deal with the changes. They lost the ability to kick Gens an infinite amount of times and getting over the 8 Regression Events is something which almost never happens. But on the other hand they got a buff in Regression on the initial Kick and the removal of Gentapping. Things which happened in every game.

the thing about Oppression is that I feel we shouldn't rely on the satisfying explosion noises, but rather rely on Oppression oppressively oppressing the gens while you Oppress them with your pressure.
I find it's not helpful towards the start, but moreso once people are getting hooked, dying, busy doing side quests etc.
anyone remember the cooldown on Oppression? it was like 2 or 3 whole minutes. It blows my mind to see it at 35 seconds now. I call it pocket ruin

not really? since gen regression is still trash and the 8 kick limit makes perks like surge and eruption less viable since it can proc multiple times

Didn't realise they buffed it. It's a very slept on perk. I wanted to used the forced skill check to hopefully push people off it and trigger dms. But Didn't work very well. Often ended up blocking the gen I wanted to kick

What are you people talking about? Eruption is hella strong, literally game changing. You just have to watch any comp winstreak or a match without eruption, that perk is literally ok and very much worth the perk slot.

Eruption is still a solid pick but probably the only gen perk that's worth bringing nowadays.

Yeah the biggest flaw of eruption nowdays and second is its dependency on killer because not all killers can use it great like you need kick a gen and than get down to trigger it which is something not all can do and argument you using it as trap yeah 8% regression is like 8 seconds plus that aura read can be blocked by gens aura so in my opinion perks like oppression that is just manual ruin are more woth running nowdays, eruption is good on stronger killers with good mobility but doesnt shine on killers that have no or super bad mobility and those that have very hard time getting downs.

Nope

I like bringing Oppression and Eruption as a gen kick build every now and then. It's not as solid as other other options, but I like the ability to have pressure on multiple gens, even if you aren't in the area.
