Matchmaking lock
I keep getting into lobbies where they ddos and get the match disconnected, I then get a matchmaking lock of 15 minutes because I got ddossed, it isn't my internet because as soon as I get dced I load right back into the main menu no issue. All my other internet sources function correctly, I think it's time for match making locks to be gone completely.

Why do people keep trying to come up with terrible excuses to get rid of the DC penalty?

Bro it's not an excuse it's happening back to back to back and getting locked out for an hour of gameplay to ddossers is dumb? Why the hell should I have to suffer matchmaking locks at the hands of degenerates? I'd rather have people dc on me than ddossers lock me out of hours of gameplay like honestly.

The game needs to be able to detect whether an issue like this is occurring and then they can trigger a free disconnect or even an abandon if the ddos attack happens for long enough (lets say the game detects your packet loss spiking like crazy for a long time, this happened in the Chandler Riggs stream and its what ddosers can affect. With it happening for long enough, you can just abandon or the game can even force end with no penalty for anyone) Dcing as a whole should not lose the penalty, because dodging would become a massive issue otherwise, and if they just only punished dcing, I'm willing to bet there'd still be people pulling the plug on their wifi to dc for free, though that in itself is like a set time limit penalty, cus then you can't use your internet for minutes on end.

But I instantly load back into the main lobby and the videos I'm watching on youtube simultaneously never seem to cut out so yeah I guess that has to be it

Yeah I know it sucks when connection issues cause that kind of stuff. Still you can be in the game lobby even if you have some packet loss. Lobby is not as demanding so many communications between you and the server than active game that has four other people also connected the same time. If I also aren't wrong this game has different servers that handle the lobbies and those that handle the match so you might have better connection to the lobby servers but might experience issues on the match servers. Hopefully it clears up and you can play more freely.
