Why does BHVR keep trying to nerf ""potential"" A tier killers?
I've noticed this for a long, long time but the two cases that stand out to me the most are the Harmless Unknown and most recently, Wesker, which makes me curious because why would either of those two ever be considered for nerfs when they've slowly and surely been getting power crept as time has gone on? People like to put both those killers in A tier usually, but I never really agreed with that sentiment.
There are strong A tiers, like Pyramid Head, Singularity, etc and then there are "potential" A tiers like Wesker and Unknown. Strong A-tier killers are almost always consistent throughout their matches, not requiring that much RNG to sway their chances of victory, whereas potential A-tier killers suffer massively when they get a map that isn't in their favor, and or survivors who are very aware of what they can do and can properly counter them. The Unknown, for example, can be pretty good IF you somehow never miss a shot ever, get a decent map, and get survivors who don't know the proper counterplay to him, because otherwise he feels absolutely miserable to play. Wesker can be really strong if you get a map that isn't absolutely cluttered with objects or weird collision, and or go up against survivors who don't know what he's capable of with his techs because otherwise, once again, he feels incredibly weak at times with his infection no longer being a serious threat and his power not being good for map mobility. So with all that being said, what's the deal with these types of killers repeatedly catching strays that the community then opposes strongly?

Yeah I just find it weird that these specific bugs are what's beings targeted a lot of the time.
Whenever a Wesker does some crazy trick and slams me with a tech I didn't see coming, I think "that's a pretty cracked player" not "OMG OMG HE'S CHEATING UNFAIR"
Why not fix the killers who still don't function properly half the time like Houndmaster instead of removing pro Wesker players ability to be stylish? I can't even do the tech but this still strikes me as lame.

Im a Unknown Main and ur 100% correct. The Unknown is a B tier killer and what Keeping him from A tier is power consistency and Unneeded Nerfs. His UVX needs to have it so when he lands a UVX on a survivor Directly it explodes. He needs the blast radius of the UVX bigger along side when he is in chase with a weaken Survivor It takes longer to remove the Weakened Effect. He needs these changes to be constant or atleast stronger.
His state is a Flicker of his B Tier. He might go to C tier if he doesn't get something

When did BHVR nerf Unknown? I only recall it getting buffs.
This is also beside the point but how on earth did "Harmless" become the joke name for Unknown, surely something like "Unthreatening" or "Ineffective" would mesh better with the name…

Nerfed his best addons and his buffs were in part where he doesnt needed that help that much (made uvx last longer when you injure survivor with uvx so its not 10 seconds but 16 or what to stare him down to get rid of uvx effect), they buffed his teleport a little but buthchered his brown addon that made it better before than now equiped with current buffed version.
Harmless is because he is very inconsistent with his power he has very small time windo to land uvx shot on survivor effected by uvx effect to damage him and that makes him on same boat as artist that has same thing but difference is artist can hit across the map and through any object compare to harmless that has larger hitbox but slow and its physics with bouncing off are very inconsistent and unreliable, way to easy to doge and react to like imagine if huntress couldnt charge her hatchet to give them straight trajectory and high speed but could throw hatchets as they are when she instantly pulls them (they fall more and are slow). She would be terrible wouldnt she?
Same as larry when emps totaly destroyed him as counter item and he was called larry since than because he wasnt programed to harm the crew and it was truth.

IMO, BHVR balancing decisions and philosophy. They keep nerfing killers to accommodate casual survivors. B tier killer are the "norm" for casuals, although A tier + is the norm for experienced/better players.
For example, Houndmaster is one of the least played killers and got a sizable nerf in dog vault speed which made her far less effective in many situations, especially against those who pre-drop without much thinking. This combined with the common counter of "camp a pallet to stun the dog" made her a much weaker killer than after her buffs; Unknown got his best addons nerfed without enough compensation.
I don't agree with how they keep nerfing addons and killers powers to accomodate the killer's kit for casual players, but that's how they been doing recently, and i don't believe it will change soon.
