An option to abandon matches earlier than the current one

One of the most frustrating aspects of this game is watching yourself losing for 10 minutes. Unlike other games, where the round or the match is just over in 2-3 minutes, losing in DBD can drag for a good amount of time. If the killer has already 6-8 hook stages or 2 kills and there is not more than 1 gen done, people should get the option to abandon a game. Or give us the option to abandon when being on hook for the second time - this way we can avoid getting saved and having to drag through a lost game. People with multiple thousand hours of experience will understand this, especially when also playing solo q - i haven't seen a single comeback in a game like this where there is an obvious skill difference or loadout/ playstyle difference. I mean, people still do either ragequitting, going afk/giving up or hook suicides in every single game i play. Why not giving us a shortcut without turning off MM ban for early quitters?

It is a bit different for killers because the snowball potential is much bigger with endgame perks, bad altruism plays from the surv side etc. so you can still turn a match with 1-2 hook stages when all gens are done into a match with multiple kills.

The tendencies have been there forever (i play since 2020 with bigger breaks in between), i think it's a core mechanic of this game to "suffer", but like Otz said in his latest video, the patience/ frustration tolerance goes down significantly after playing this game for a while.

That frustration is what we should be trying to mitigate with a shake up, but any effort to change this game is met with resistance, even though everyone complains about how unhappy they are. When the abandon was first announced they'd said there'd be rewards for sticking out hard matches. It never happened and nothing else was ever said, yet more abandon options were added and people keep asking for even more.

Some sort of comeback mechanic like we have in 2v8 would be nice. I think the devs did well designing a pretty balanced system there. The challenge would be making it so it's not abusable by SWF on comms.

î've clearly said that the MM ban should still be in effect for early quitters.

The problem is not that abandoning early enough is not possible, the problem is more that at a certain point of the match, one side cannot win anymore, but the game might be dragged out.

Not as extreme for Killer, since you can make a comeback better as Killer than as Survivor, mainly because this is just how the game is played (Killer has less pressure in early game and increases pressure over time when Ressources are removed). Even tho, I think a good indicator is that if 4 Gens are done and no Survivor is dead, the Survivors will most likely win.

For Survivor the game is basically over when someone dies early. A comeback is only possible if the remaining Survivors are far better than the Killer player.

So it should rather be worked on the fact that early game losses should not be so frustrating. E.g. if one Survivor gets tunneled out, the game is a 3v1 with 4 Gens left or so. This is not winnable. But this does not mean that people should be granted to abandon early. Because then we really come to the point where games just end or turn into non-games when people quit when it does not go their way.

Because that while I feel that certain scenarios would justify abandoning, I think the potential for it being just used to get out of games quicker is too high. E.g. your idea of abandoning on second Hook: What prevents me from just running to the Killer two times and then abandon when I get hooked a second time?

Precisely why it shouldn't be possible for there to be one survivor "eliminated early" similarly to "losing 3 gens in the first chase because you guess wrong twice at shack" They need to slowdown the early game a bit so that midgame actually exists and endgame isn't just a slog for the side that is losing.

In my opinion there needs to be about 10 second grace period before the abandoning option becomes available to remove the unneeded end game abandonings when the survivor is going to die in few seconds anyway when killer moris. It also would give survivors time to contemplate if the abandoning is needed as some people seem to have it be auto leave when available even when there was not real need to do it.

There so far has not been good argument to add anymore abandoning options anyway and this is not a good one either.

Maybe there isn't a good argument to add more abandon options, but I'd be willing to bet that that's the route that BHVR will be more likely to take. They sure don't seem too eager to address the pain points for either side.

It sounds like you just don't like playing DBD much. If you want to quit this much why are you playing? Any game that has player vs player has ups and downs. Sometimes I win and Sometimes I lose. We don't need more quitter gameplay options. We need more players who don't give up as soon as things get slightly inconvenient (im including myself in this since I quit Sometimes but im working on it)

With my limited experience I'd say: Exactly.

The way to go in my opinion can not be to create more ways to abandon, but to make less people want to abandon.
