Fast Track is fine. People are overreacting
There is nothing wrong with Fast Track. Because some content creators make videos of it doesn't mean it's OP. Content creators are only here to make money and they succeeded by uploading ragebait videos. Y'all fell for the cheese.

It is OP. It's the exhaustion problem of way too easy to get value of while providing huge benefits while stacked on 3-4 survivors. It's op and not healthy perk design.

I'm already someone who runs hyperfocus/stakeout to make soloQ a little easier.
I added it onto my build, and 3 survivors getting hooked shaved 18% off a gen for basically nothing. That's NOT good perk design. This would be like if killer had a perk that added, say, 10 charges to every gen for each completed gen.
Most of my matches I'm the only one running it, too. Imagine if all 4 run it. Actually, I don't need to, there's plenty of videos showcasing it.7 -
Maybe not on its own. But as soon as its stacked with any of the other Generator perks or ran by multiple Survivors, the numbers just get way out of hand.
Especially when considering how easy it is to use. Survivors will inevitably get hooked in the game, and you'll inevitably be repairing at some point and get to dump the stacks. It's just a free boost to repair progress that really wasn't needed given how hyper-efficient most aspects of the role have become as of late (healing + map traversal especially).
Like ChaosWam, I'm also speaking from experience. Stakeout + Hyperfocus has been a go-to Survivor build for me for ages now. That alone is enough to make Generator speeds absurdly quick. Slap on a Commodious Toolbox and I can crank out a Generator in ~35 seconds solo. I've also played around with Bardic + One, two, three, four to great effect in a duo (I run Bardic and my Duo runs the other one). That way, you don't even need to commit your whole build to get super quick gens — you can share the necessary perks with your SWF and still have room for other META picks like SB, DS, StB, Windows, etc.
Adding another perk that makes Generator speeds even more volatile and extreme is just rubbing salt into the wound.

I dunno what's going on in other people's matches but every match this perk has been in play since the rework it has been a loss for survivors for me, regardless of which role I'm playing. There's been only one exception, and that killer got two hooks, so it wasn't Fast Track that did it. For the most part, no one has been running it.
I don't really care what they do to do this perk cause I think it's too situational and I like guaranteed value, but if they nerf it, it will be caving to hysteria, because I can't imagine their data is showing it to be overperforming considering what I've been seeing in my normal, average, non-CC matches.

You have to keep in mind that Content Creators create Content (duh). Because clicks mean money for them. And the current hot topic is Fast Track and since Content Creators probably know that the Perk will be irrelevant in a week or two (simply because it gets either nerfed or people dont care anymore because they are indeed overreacting), they now try to squeeze as much out of the topic as possible.
Clicks are everything so if someone makes a video about Fast Track, you will have people in the comments saying that they lose every game because of Fast Track and others who say that the Perk is not as strong. And both sides generate clicks and traffic.
The bigger problem are people who fall for that Content-Slop.

Thank you for being a rare survivor that can understand where we are coming from.

Been running it myself now for personal testing, and in just two games I have managed to complete an entire generator by myself in 10 seconds. Do I expect it to happen every match? No, it won't. Even more so as I tend to suck at hitting those BNP skill checks. But when I do? 10 second generators, 20 seconds without the BNP if the killer is 'trying to make sure it's a fun match' as survivor mains insist killers do.

I've been almost exclusively playing survivor the past 2 patches.
It's a stupid perk that encourages the killer to slug & tunnel even more than the game already does at a baseline. There's also no real indication that it's in play from the killer PoV, which is a huge problem with the idea of permanent progress in general. So in that regard maybe it's not "unbalanced" if the killer is playing truly optimally, but it's still badly designed no matter which way you look at it. Reminder that design =/= balance.

I don't think it's that good. Even at max stacks it doesn't give that much gen progression. Are people just saying it's overpowered because it can bypass slowdown? Yeah, well about that, the total percentage of maxium charges required to complete gens isn't reduced that much. I tried it out and thought it was a slightly worse brand new part.
And besides, isn't something like this perk needed? So the game isn't over once the killer tunnels someone out of a game early.

I've been running it with a friend and i can tell you 2 people using it is ridiculous. Its badly designed perk. Killer hooking someone shouldnt give anyone a free mini brand new part.

There’s no way you completed a gen in ten seconds just using fast track. Maybe you were playing a gimmick custom game using potential energy or something.
Fast track is really not that strong. Content creators whose “job” it is to rage bait are the ones trying to get people to believe that. Really if you just want gen speed then hyperfocus + stakeout > fast track. Fast track is a decent comeback perk, but it’s nothing special.0 -
You can get similar cheesy value out of Specialist. Is that perk also a problem? I remember there being similar CC videos about this perk and yet you hardly ever see it. Fast Track is just flavour of the month right now.
I've not seen this perk in many of my trials, tbh. Most Survivors are still opting for the guaranteed value of perks like Deja Vu or Resilience and remain unconvinced by the theoretical strength of Fast Track.
To be honest, I'm not sure the vast majority of Survivors can even hit great skill checks with any kind of consistency. I'd never bring this perk myself because with my ageing reflexes (that were never great to begin with) I know I'd be blowing up every gen trying to hit that great. I tend to avoid gen perks anyway because I find them to be the most boring perks to bring on both sides of the game.
I see how SWF squads of 3 or 4 players bringing it to trial with their full gen rush builds could be a problem, but that's less an issue with the perk and more an issue with BHVR's refusal to do anything about these groups cheesing their way to victory synergising their builds like this. Groups like these cause a lot of balance issues.
I think being able to stack gen perks on either side of the game is kinda silly, anyway (not to mention incredibly dull). That said, I do appreciate being able to slow the game down a little more if I'm playing as Trapper or a Killer I'm terrible with. But I'd be all for stronger individual gen perks if they couldn't be stacked or ran together any longer.

Whoops, I goofed and double posted.

It wasn't just Fast Track, no. I never said that. However, Fast Track coupled with other perks plus a brand new part? It's easy and consistent to do. We already had questionable perks, the new Fast Track is yet another.
As I have said before, these forums especially have a very US VS. THEM mentality between survivor mains and killer mains. I play both sides, which is why I am able to to see how insanely easy it is for me to solo complete generators now if I don't get tunneled out.0 -
Did you do the Fast Track/Specialist build where Specialist does most of the carrying? Also a build that no one will ever use because it takes too much time to set up? See this is the problem with people whining about Fast Track. They know Fast Track isn't all that so they put in very situational builds.

Yes, it took too much time to set up before, but Fast Track enhances it. Perks do not exist in a vacuum. "Very situational" has allowed me to finish 2-3 generators per match and average 3 escapes since I started running it. But no, you are right. This is not a problem, so that's why I will continue to do it. Good luck out there in The Fog!
