We are getting primed to have 2v8 put in permanently
Watching stream the 2v8 section was interesting they are adding play as you wait to the normal 1v4.
I personally think is a sign that they are looking to have it as a permanent mode but are cautious to do so as they are clearly aware of how long the que times get. but the causal playbase love this game mode I think it would be good if the mode was permanent

Yeah I'm hopeful it will be, it's a great way to learn the game and introduce new players.
They also seem to be focusing on it as the "Fun mode"
While people might get upset over the queues, there is potential it could bring a lot more players into the game and queues could improve over time.5 -
God, I sure don't hope so. Killer queue times are abysmal during 2v8, on both queues, and I'm not going to wait for 10 minutes every time to get a game.

Instant uninstall if that happens. The game is already ruined while its temporarily active, it can die for all i care if thats all the time, and it would deserve too.
I took this as its active in 1v4 while 2v8 is active to help with queues there that are also garbage for those who dont want to play 2v8. I certainly dont want it potentially inflating killer queues permanently, forcing me to play survivor if i dont feel like it. It's an easy choice to ditch the game at that point.

Fingers crossed it doesn't. Queue times during events are shocking. We don't need that permanently.

I sure hope not. I would probably quit the game for good if they made 2V8 a permanent mode.
Now that Legion has been permanently removed, the mode holds no interest for me any longer. It's fun for what it is, but it's just not compelling enough for me to subject myself to a bunch of buffed up Killers that I hate when I don't have a Killer of my own to queue up to play anymore. And whenever 2V8 is live, 1V4 Killer becomes a sweaty nightmare on my server because all my fellow casuals are usually in 2V8.
So yeah, there would be nothing left for me to enjoy in DBD if this came to be.

I wish 2v8 was deleted it is one of the worst things in the game right now I have no idea how there is such demand to play a mode so stacked in the survivors favor by killer players they had a chance to basically make a new dbd in a sense with 2v8 and they completly bungled it I was very optimistic when it came out and now I uninstall the game for 3 weeks when it comes around if it came around 2 times a year I wouldn't mind but having 2v8 come out every 3 months is exhausting with minimal changes every time it feels like an afterthought to milk casuals who somehow enjoy it

It would be interesting. Being able to play1v4 while queuing killer in the background for 2v8 might solve the queue time issue. Not a guarantee obviously, as it stands the queue times during 2v8 events would kill the game if it were made permanent.
But IF the times are reasonable with 1v4 and background queuing it would be nice to have a more casual permanent playlist. Personally i think we'd do better with a casual playlist and a separate ranked playlist with prizes.
I can see people not queueing survivor as much in 2v8 though if 1v4 queuing is available. Even a little bit of that would make killer queue times in 2v8 absolute insane.

I think it does need to become permanent but would agree the queue times is what is holding it back from becoming so.
Hope the system can be tested. eg. only allowing to que in 2v8 if you are doing play as you wait or playing in the game mode you queing for (ie people waiting for 1v4 only get into 1v4 survivor matches) to test what works best.
So many casuals love the mode. I think 2v8 is the closest this game is going to ever get to a ranked vs casual game mode.0 -
Idk if it needs to be permanent, it is a fun game mode and I do enjoy it. But if it was live all the time interest would naturally wane, and queue times would increase for 2v8, particularly for killers.
Having it as a time limited event makes it a novelty so people play it more. When 2v8 is up i pretty much play it exclusively when i have friends online. I'd play it a lot less if it was a permanent playlist.

I think the casuals are the ones who will be more drawn to play the mode if it was a premanent mode. People who prefer 1v4 making it premenant isnt for them.
The novelty wore off for me personally after the first time (came back only to check out flashlight update) but casuals are in love with the mode and prefer it over 1v4. i also think the novelty going away would also make people who only play for the novelty of playing duo killer will also stop playing as much, where as now they all swam the gamemode as its limited.
Its also easier to bring new players into the game as nothing has too be paid for unlike if you wanna use certain perks.
Side not but if not a permanent mode they should at least add to customs

Customs would definitely be fun. And the game could definitely do with a casual playlist, should turn standard into a proper ranked playlist with rewards better than simple blood point bonuses once a month. Maybe a dedicated casual playlist that rotates between 2v8, chaos shuffle and seasonal stuff, with the odd smattering of 1v4.
