Killers that camp in any way are bad.
If you camp in any way, it means you aren’t really good at this game.

survivors that get downed in any way are bad
if you ever get downed, it means you aren't really good at this game.

So if you are good at the game otherwise. But then camp as part of a challenge or something... then you are bad right?

Screw it. I'll camp. And you know what? I know I'm bad at the game. So, the intended insult holds no weight. It's just belaboring the obvious.

You havent played killer

Who are you talking to here?

Obvious b8 is obvious m8

If you loop in any way then you aren't good at this game! You should just throw every pallet down when a killer is chasing you and keep running!
Do you see how ridiculous that sounds? Saying if you camp in any way that you're bad is basically saying that looping for any reason is bad. Some killers you need to loop, while at the same time some survivors you need to camp because maybe the team is too altruistic and is just hovering around the hook, or maybe that survivor knows where the hatch is and has a key for the rest of the remaining team to escape.

Camping is needed in some situations.

@SuperRavenSn1per See, you have it right. Now, despite my snarky earlier post, I don't usually camp. I am bad at the game, though, but I'm also fairly new to playing (I bought it last summer and left by end of summer due to gray ranks being lobby simulator back then, just came back steadily when the "new" matchmaker first went in, before all the back and forth) and got boosted from Rank 18 all the way to Rank 15 Friday night due to this damned free-weekend and the fact that a 4k was impossible not to get against brand new survivors trying out the game.
Today, I've been facing a lot of Ranks 9 through 11, though, which is tough as hell when you honestly shouldn't be out of the gray ranks yet. I don't even have enough bloodpoints earned except to unlock the teachables on Bubba. Everyone else is Level 1 or Level 8 at the highest. So, being in the de-ranking Vet territory now truly sucks for me.
Anyway, I faced a team today that I found out quickly was extremely altruistic. When I hooked one, the other three literally swarmed the hook. The way they played, I think they figured out quickly that I was still a baby killer. So, I camped and revved the chainsaw. One tried to distract me, so I stepped away from the hook and let the chainsaw attack go off. Then I quickly stepped in reverse and nailed the other two that tried to unhook behind me.
The fourth moved in and I hit him once with M1 and chased him for a bit. He lost me, which was expected. The first died on hook. I hooked the other two. Camped one. The other got unhooked and here they came again.
Anyway, long story short, we kept repeating the process until they died for the altruism. I slugged number three and left him while I chased and downed number four (uh-oh, call the survivor police, I tunneled too), then hooked them both. They weren't getting Hatch on principle (they also loved to point and then t-bag at me).
So yeah, I camped with Bubba today because I noticed their altruism early on. But do I usually camp? No. I really don't care how survivor players view it (I'll play my killers my way), I just find it boring. After playing Legion, I think he might be my main, and I don't camp with him (and again, I don't care how survivors personally feel about facing him). Ditto for Myers, which will be my second main until I get used to Huntress.

I came back around last week steadily as well, though unlike you I started playing 2 years ago and would, unlike with a lot of other games, count myself as a skilled player. I haven't had to camp really yet, but I just got o rank 14 today and I am starting to already get in pretty tense situations. I've been having a 3k from hatch escapes consistently now due to me not camping, and I've had a close call about where I needed to camp. So the OP can call me garbage if they want if I need to camp but considering in the time of around 5 days I've gotten from rank 20 to 14 playing about 2 games at a time and get 3-4ks each time I would count myself as pretty good.
By the way I'm not bragging here just saying that while I usually don't need to camp, I still need to camp sometimes due to some situations.

Sorry but if I managed to down you just before you were escape and the only hook that's close by is right by the exit gate there is no way I'm leaving you.
You can call me terrible or you like but I will camping crap out of it why because leaving you literally serves me no benefit when you're so close to the exit that if you get unhooked you could crouch your way out with no fear.

@SuperRavenSn1per I mean, I consider myself bad. But in the gray ranks I would get a lot of 3k and 4k even before the free-weekend, though some matches went 2k and very rarely a 0k or 1k. Often, the matches were so quick I didn't even get a Pip. I had to start slowing them down and let a couple escape (even though I could have downed them).
Something my ass should have done last night. I don't know why I didn't.
And most times, at the end of the match, I saw that I was Rank 18 facing yellow ranks (13-15, with the occasional Rank 12).
I did okay tonight when facing fellow yellow ranks, but when I had the green ranks (9, 10, and 11) as a majority of a survivor group, I got rolled. The difference in skill between ranks 12-15 and ranks 11+ are insane. I can only assume the higher green ranks are de-ranked Vets.

@Nickenzie After this thread being made, now I actually want to camp.
2 -
I just love that random internet person makes a thread like killers will suddenly go: Oh no! A random, faceless internet person thinks I'm a bad killer if I camp. Holy hell! I have to stop camping now!
🤣

@Kilmeran At least tunneling is still allowed. :)
0 -
@NoShinyPony That is true. But gee, whatever will be do now about camping? I mean, this opinion matters so much in my enjoyment of Dead by Daylight.

@Kilmeran My friend + I allow you to camp. That's 2 vs. 1 random internet person. Have fun! :)

Let me guess, you made this thread because someone camped you to death and you’re looking for a place to vent?

Survivors that reward camping in any way are worse.
Sucide on hook? No longer needs to camp you
Your team rushes to the rescue? They took the bait
No one is doing gens? Your team is at fault.
Camping will be there and work as long as survivors make it so.

I camp when I think it's the right tactical decision because I have nothing to prove to you. Your opinion of me is about as relevant to me as a single neutrino is to the overall mass of the universe.
1 -
If the gates are powered, im going to camp. But even at that, they normally escape me 😂😂😂
1 -
My (age appropriate) offspring take to the camping methods when playing as killer, despite me showing them they get more BP when continuing the patrol after a hook.
Different logics and gameplay ideas I suppose

If you do gens in any way you're bad.
1 -
@MagicalYummies just to despite you, I would tunnel you hard and then camp you 😂
0 -
Different goals. You play for BP. They play for the role. Killers kill. It's in the name.
1 -
You can reward camper whenever he will play a survivor in your team 😂

I wonder what constitutes as "camping in any way".
0 -
In my experience, it means not allowing a completely safe hook rescue. I've been accused of "distance camping" as the Doctor while patrolling generators about 40 m away from the hook, on the opposite side of the hill (where the survivor was hooked).
1 -
Face camping is the only form of camping that truly ruins the game.
I swear camping has broadened to just being in the map while a survivors on the hook. Patrolling the hook and surrounding gens isn't camping, especially if the killer knows people are going in for the save.
As for end game, It's so survivor sided that Camping the hook is literally the only way to secure a kill. With all these second chance perks you can't risk letting that survivor off the hook. Also what would be the point of leaving the hook to just watch the survivors tbag at the exit gates while someone saves?
1 -
So when the best DbD Killer players camp for even 0.1 second, it would mean everyone sucks at the game.
0 -
Remember guys, if you r a skilled killer you have to move away from the hook next to an open exit gate and catch someone else, especially if you are a killer without insta down ability. Otherwise you are not skilled and absolutely trash. Smh, some people fell to often on the head.
