Why am I getting penalized when dedicated servers crash?
Dropping from Iri I to the bottom of Iri 2 and having to wait five minutes because the dedicated servers crash is pretty crummy.
Also, why is it always ten minutes in to a great match that the dedicated servers crash?
It's never the crappy five minutes routes where that happens.

That's their anti-D.C. system for you. Even if it is their fault or a cheater making a game end after a few seconds everyone gets penalized for it. Though, normally with dedicated server issues it's just loss of BP from the match, items, add-ons, and offerings.

Dedicated Server Not Responding just means that your client reported it lost connection with the server. This can mean the server crashed, or that your client… lost connection with the server, for whatever stupid ass reason, because DBD's netcode is janky and garbage. Maybe it was a hiccup in wifi, maybe a butterfly flapped its wings within 50 miles of a DBD server. I once got a penalty for disconnecting from a game I was never even in. I can only assume because the server added me to a lobby and then started the game without the client actually getting the message because I was still sitting in the "waiting for match" screen until I shut it down and requeued.

When server crashes you don't get penalty and as other stated here "Dedicated Server Not Responding" just means you don't get packet from the server and most likely the server did not get one from you so the connection was terminated. So if you get penalty it was a connection issues between you and the server so it counts as disconnect as thats what happened.

Yea, it sucks, I agree but there is no way for their servers to tell where the signal was lost. Did you turn off your router or did their server hiccup? The system has no idea. A much more sophisticated setup could possibly be programmed with a failsafe to tell the difference, but… that is not something BHVR has. So we get penalized.

Its great thing to get penalty when server crushes and it was pinicle to witness when ddos was very common and you got that penalty longer and longer for each ddos.

This happens to me frequently, it can't be my internet because multiple times during the dc process before actually disconnecting I will make sure to test other forms of internet, Youtube, google or this forum and they all load instantly without issue, I notice sometimes when I start to chase a specific survivor all of a sudden I start lagging and the server lags out, happen lots lately. Earlier today I got tunneled out, hooked first, entire team left me on hook until I died, I hit every skill check, 30 seconds later I get disconnected from lobby and a 5 minute ban for somehow being afk. It sucks but a lot of us has just come to accept nothing will likely ever be done about it.
