survivor bashing content

Has anyone noticed the trend on YouTube where you just see videos of survivor bashing? What gives?

It would be helpful if you could explain what “survivor bashing” is

Its click bait in the simplest form. Have to admit would not get me to click the video as I watch only few DBD content creators as they do good content.

This has been around practically since release. Most content that criticizes one side is mostly towards survivor, or any toxic TTV videos. It's mostly survivor.

These videos are not a critique to survivors in general but a critique to the survivors who DC on a first down or those who throw insults at the endgame chat. I can't say anything about Mr Headache, but MintSkull and QuietKills have often tried to make the distinction between the common survivor and the salt driven ones who throw the game and ruin it for their own teammates the moment something goes wrong.

More us vs them TBH. For every one of these videos you are talking about i can show you another video of a survivor solo/squad laughing at killers they "make DC" Its all engagement bait because the us vs them thing is what gets clicks.

I mean, entitled players are ruining the game. And there's more survivors than killers, and the ones who DC are definitely the worst so... kinda a given. They've ruined the reputation of the survivors who don't bm or act toxic.

if you watch most of these videos all it is people who fed up with the current state of the game and voicing their collective frustration (at survivors) and trying to educate them on how to get better so they can stop blaming ‘toxic killers’ for their problems.

if you don’t see the issues you’re either in a 3-4 man swf, a killer player, or a new player who doesn’t know bad plays when they seem them.

Please I encourage any doubters, go play solo-duo queue and watch how many game you lose because your teammate survivors heal under hook, farm hooks, loop in disadvantages areas, die too fast due to lack of knowledge, or dc/go next immediately. These people are the reason half the killer roster have such bad reps, because instead of learning they b***h and moan or dc until mommy and daddy bhvr fix the ‘problem’.

I don’t see a problem with ‘survivor bashing’ content, maybe it’ll get some of the worst offenders to educate themselves but what do I know, they probably saw the thumbnail left an angry ‘killer mains bad’ comment then went back to throwing games and complaining on twitter.

Since there's 4 times the survivor players in each match compared to killers it's more likely that there will be something to complain about with how the survivors play (or don't play in the case of the insta-DCers or those that just give up if they're found first)

I think it’s the issue of age as well.
not only is dbd is complex it’s old, and the content isn’t slowing down, so the barrier to entry is just going to keep getting higher and higher.

A bit of a personal anecdote but I got into league a couple years ago and it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought with how old the game was and the amount of characters and items but with the help of a couple of friends a couple of YouTube videos, and just reading the in-game information I felt ok and not too too overwhelmed.

dbd even with those first two things is still missing crucial onboarding and a severe information deficit when it comes to killer powers and perks. Even if dbd had the specific killer information, with descriptions and videos all on one page, i dont think it’d be enough, the game is such a trial by fire kinda thing where experience rules.

I seriously don’t envy anyone new getting into the game at this point in time, but i say start now because it’s only gonna get harder. I mean how should we expect new players to learn the game overnight when even some 10 year veterans don’t even know or wanna know what certain things do/mean.

i completely agree, it’s a shame bhvr haven’t nailed the non-rng maps yet.

I feel Like the closest we’ve gotten is trickster delusion, my personal favorite, but even I can admit it feels very disgusting once you learn it as survivor.
I also like rpd but we all know that map had/has a ton of issues, the 3 gen in the middle, unbalanced variants, weird hook spawns yadada

It's not "bashing" if it's true. DBD's survivor playerbase is by far the most entitled, whiny and disgusting playerbase I've ever seen, LoL and CoD aren't even close.

The big problem I see is the following:

In DbD both sides are entilted and think they are the punching bag for the other side.

But I have to adress that Survivors aren´t happy no matter what you do. Pllease stay with me I will give some examples and I beg you to be honest with yourself.

Rate of disconnects are rocket high at the Survivor side and gets support by many DbD players (Why should you stay in a game if you don´t have fun?) Don´t like the Killer? DC! Don´t like the map? DC! You know what I mean as many players even in this forum suggested. "Don´t like Ghoul? Just DC and show BHVR that you don´t want to play.

Ofcourse there are Killers which DC over the smallest things themself. Bad Map, Bully Squads etc. but if you are beeing honest you will see that a Killer which dcs has most of the time a reason to do so (I don´t agree with these but you will understand) Hey another denied hit by autoaim, Hey another Larrys as Billy, Hey another flashlight save out of an impossible angle and so on.

Another point is how players react to a gamestyle the other side uses. While yes Bullysquads are hated by Killers the most common suggestions in this forum is to always bring Lightborn or if you play against Sabo Squads Slug the hell out of them. These are legit conversations how to tackle the problem you are facing. Survivors Gen Rush? Use slow down and so on.

Survivors on the other hand react to such topics in another way. Many Survivors think that BHVR should make playsstyles they don´t like unusable and get mad at BHVR if they don´t do it right after the suggestion came in. From time to time I try to reason with some players in this forum that "If slugging is in 10 of 10 games why won´t you take anti slug perks?" and always the answer tend to be something like "I don´t want to use a perk for BHVRs bad game desing".

While both sides are horrendous from time to time, most of the time I roll my eyes when I see Survivors in game or in the forum.

Years of development habits that tend to limit the killer end and enhance the survivor end for the sake of "player retention."

This strips down the points of contention far too much, however. Survivors lack a great deal of autonomy over the game. More often than not, it's simply unfair for them. I don't think it's very entitled for them to give up when the trial becomes one-sided so early on. Make those trials a trend and giving up becomes a trend.

The trend of giving up and not playing the game they queue up for. Instead of just quiting DBD they continue to join matches to ruin other survivors games.

Yeah Dcing because you hear the Terror Radius of a Killer you don´t like is not entitled at all.

Unfortunately, it kind of is true.

Many games are ruined by DCs and giving up.

Giving up in droves is a recent problem.

Just watched Scott Jund newest video and that is how you make a argument against people who are dcing all the time without seeming like you are crashing out or bashing one side.

Not starting the video off by screaming at the survivor side and calling them ######### like example at start of thread from someone in the creator program did. he just calmly states his points, mad at certain survivors but makes clear its not all survivors.

Yes, I have noticed an uptick in this sort of content. While I think some of it is definitely over the top, I feel like it's a pretty common consensus right that survivor is in a very strong state.

Yet despite this, killers still have a pretty good kill rate because the majority of survivors simply don't know what they're doing. Behavior looks at this data and thinks "hmm, survivors must be struggling, lets give them buffs", despite survivors already being strong provided they understand how the game works. They've been doing this for awhile now, which is what has led to all this frustration.

CC engagement bait who are entitled Killer mains

  • sp1nu__

this is why a lot of survs kinda hate killer mains, they all act superior as if they’re so much better like they don’t act just as entitled majority of the time… refusing to hook is the biggest entitlement of them all. like, just play the game lil bro🙄

last sec switching still exists and there is a perk that guarantee a flashlight from a chest. To the other perks that are hidden from the killer, if the killer brings lightborn and nothing is used to blind them isn't it a wasted perk?

Also we are talking about an item not a perk. If the killer runs lightborn then the survivor doesn't need to waste time going for saves and progress gens. They could open a chest and get a different item. In reality it benefits the survivor side by not having two survivors in chase.

The anger for lightborn is not that it makes an item useless, many perks and killers can do that, its that survivors can't clicky click and annoy the killer.

I mean if light born is unfair calm spirit is unfair too tho.

The only difference is that the survivor can't react to the killer but that is part of the games balance.

I think lightborn gets talked about in the first place not because it stops a playstyle but because it stops a playstyle that is well liked by people that want to interfere with the killer and don't want or enjoy sitting at gens.

If I bring lightborn and you see that at your first pallet blind three minutes in the game you now know you have to do gens. I know that this is frustrating but we don't see complaints like that about calm spirit countering scream builds and doc. And we don't see complaints like that about plague and legion making heal builds worthless. (We do see complaints about legion but more about men's then healing)

Maybe it is because blinds are the only weapon of survivors, maybe it is because of people that farm clips or maybe it is because among people that like torches there are those who use them cause they want to screw with the killer and those are obviously gonna be loud about hating lightborn.

All I know it that if bhvr announces they are reworking lightborn I quietly deinstall the game
