Will DR Cull Dbd Players?
IDK if it's just me but I've stayed playing in dbd for 7 years now cause of new content and Build Variety but now with Diminishing returns coming Meta perks will be even more common and off meta and meme builds will now just be useless and that's what helped kept the game fresh for me and I'm geussing others too.
But now that it's basically over unless Devs massively bulk buff the bad perks every patch while also nerfing the meta I just see most people getting bored of the game and leaving.
What do you guys think?

I honestly don't think Diminishing Returns will actually affect that many gimmick, niche, or off-meta builds, honestly.
Most of the ones I run won't be affected that I can think of off the top of my head, and if they are it'll probably just be swapping out one perk for something else. There's still plenty of opportunity to mix and match things around for fun variety— if anything you might be more encouraged to do that since you can't lean as hard into just stacking the same effect.

Idk usually some of my fun builds are usually All vault perks all aura all blindness etc but now builds will just be one aura one exhaustion one anti tunnel one gen rush perk that sorta thing while it is variety I just don't think it's as fun as stacking into one silly category

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the current setup wouldn't affect all aura or all blindness, right? It's only when you stack the same % modifier, like healing speed or repair speed?

I think it's a garbage idea thats dictating what everyone should or shouldn't run, but idk if build changes will make people quit. I'll still be playing, my bitterness will just increase.

I don't think itl effect the game as badly as it sounds. Like if you stacked 4 healing perks, they would never go beyond a certain speed alredy. So instead you are more likely to rely on 1 healing perk and make more diverse builds. Instead of 4 healing perks and end up playing against plague lol

My STBFL and Help Wanted combo was just too strong apparently, guess I'll have to switch to Pain Res and Grim Embrace 🤷

Probably not. Players have stuck with this game through some pretty awful changes and the ongoing cheating epidemic, so this probably won’t drive them away either.

No it will just make more people play meta perks that will barely get affected, even though the meta is so damn unhealthy right now you could catch a bacterial infection from it because its been the SAME forever. It will just be more of the same.

Im probably also wrong idk whats all being diminished

Nah, it's like every major change. People will whinge about, you'll get one or two players on here making attention seeky "I'm quitting the game" posts, a few players may stop playing, probably to come back in a month or two. But across the board most players will just adapt and deal with it.

At this point in the DBD lifespan I don't think its going to cull players but I don't think it's going to draw back old players or draw in new players. It's going to create a stronger meta which usually isn't a draw for the casual or returning players.
I think the majority that play 1v4 regularly will continue to play 1v4 regularly. I have a feeling it'll probably be another change that pushes players to be more efficient which will make games feel more sweaty.
The players who take breaks and only come back for events may be more selective about the event they choose. 2v8 is fine because there's no perks to get hit with DR. Chaos Shuffle could lose players unless they put in coding to prevent someone that gets a random load out that is stacks that will get hit with DR. Lights out there's no perks so no problem. Halloween, anniversary, etc. will be hit/miss depending on the current meta and how the gameplay of the event works with DR.
