Devs, will the Freddy rework please Freddy players?
For the longest time, I played Overwatch. And then they gave Symmetra a rework. Now us Symmetra players were begging the Overwatch devs to help her out because not only was she being totally outclassed by every hero at this point (Moira was literally a better version of her, and could just destroy half of her kit for a little while,) but Symmetra players were literally being harassed and bullied just for playing her - as toxic as dbd can get, I am at least grateful hated and weak characters cannot be suspended out of existence and that the devs won’t preach kindness and turn around and ignore the Symmetra being told to get r**ed and kill themselves for playing Symmetra.
Yet it was immediately evident the Symmetra rework had neither the love nor care for Symmetra or her playerbase. It was instead a rework that heavily favored being used in the owl as a teleportation tool to be switched off of immediately in favor of a more meta hero like Dva, a rework that bowed down to the “aim is king” mentality in regards to skill, and a rework that took everyone that hated her into consideration. Us Symmetra players who valued her strategic style and accessibility were completely left out in the cold.
That was the moment I fell out of love with Overwatch, and slowly but surely stopped playing - especially when it became evident that this whole uprooting was for naught and that Symmetra was still reviled, still weak - actually, weaker, like the devs were Wiley Coyote drilling a hole through rock bottom.
I really hope us Freddy mains have nothing to fear with this rework and that we will be pleased with the outcome. I really enjoy playing Freddy and I don’t want that to change.

I like the basic idea of how Freddy's power currently works. Some tweaks on his power could have helped him immensely already. Now it seems that he will get a complete rework of his power. I'm really excited for next month. I hope he will still be our Freddy.

I wonder what his new Power will be but I just hope they make him Viable. We could really use some more killers up in the high ranks.

New Power: Dream Demon v2.0 - "Freddy comes armed with a gun..."

"Time for your extreme makeover, b*tch!"

I have to say. That was my exact same experience with OverWatch.
I just hope that Freddy won't end up the same, because I don't want a similar situation where my favourite character is just obliterated.

@pemberley and @Jackikins I still play Overwatch once in a while, and they need to transfer Kaplan and Goodman to another project. I played WoW back when Kaplan and Goodman were there, and Goodman handled class balance back when we had full talent trees. It was class talent reworks hot-and-cold running every other month, and balance just got worse. Goodman was the single reason why the wife walked away from WoW before Cata and never looked back.
If I had paid attention in Beta that both of them were on Overwatch, I'd have skipped the damned game.
The issue with them is that those in charge of Overwatch have only previous MMO-PvE experience, and it shows in spades. They should never have been put in charge of a team-heavy PvP-only shooter.
My daughter walked away from Overwatch thanks to the Mercy fiasco. It's even more a kick in the teeth now because they removed mass rez, then add in Baptiste with the damned immortality field every 20-seconds.
Anyway, from what I've seen from the Dev Update and a couple of CM posts, it does sound like Freddy got the Symmetra treatment. It sounds like he is different from the ground up, especially when they mentioned it was basically like designing a new killer, but yet remaining true to the license. So, it does sound like he's going to be completely different.
My remaining question is: Will this make him viable at high ranks finally, or is it exactly like Symmetra turned out?

Yeah. After having left and seeing with a clearer eye, it’s obvious that they only care about money (it still grosses me out how they took advantage of people’s CHARITY and desire to defeat cancer to find a price point for exclusive legendaries) and the only balance they care about is when it involves or effects popular and marketable heroes.
I wish I paid more attention during the Mercy Murders - I played her and I was not fond of her rework either, but Symmetra was My Girl so while I didn’t like her changes and supported the Mercy Movement, it didn’t break me. If I knew then that Mercy was the beginning of Overwatch rolling back on accessible AND enjoyable heroes for their owl master vision and pretty much saying “thanks for your money and making us seem progressive disabled people, screw you and don’t let the door hit you on the way out!” I never would have gotten Overwatch in the first place. I thought it was going to be a multiplayer where I could finally play without being the weak link. Apparently being accessible was just a show for brownie points before squeezing us out of the serious, competitive scene.
Back to Freddy, I won’t mind extensive changes as long as seasoned Freddy players still had an experience edge over potential newcomers and appealed to us, as well as Freddy no longer having such exploitable weaknesses as he does now.

@pemberley Yeah, I hear you. One of their Hero Design devs came to the forums recently and stated that having started with Ashe, the next several new heroes are going to be very aim reliant. Now, that doesn't affect me, but for people like my wife and many others, it's a bad sign.
The wife and I mostly play Paladins nowadays for our team-shooter fix. No hyper-movement and much easier for her to aim in.
I'm interested to see what they've done with Freddy. I guess the May reveal will tell us one way or another. And although I am not a Freddy main, I do like him and hope that you mains out there aren't left in the dumpster.
