Any tips on breaking chase and running the killer around?

I'm preferably a stealth player who, unlike alot of other players, actually tries to hide from the killer.

However, whenever i do get found hiding (which is pretty common), i hardly manage to keep the chase going for long enough, and find myself getting downed pretty early into the chase.

Has anybody got any tips on staying alive during a chase (or breaking it early)?

in case you need it, my basic perk build is Plunderer's instinct (gotta get those keys), Ace in the Hole (Weaved Ring = free key), Alert (to see where the killer is) and Diversion (underrated perk, i find it pretty useful).

I wonder the same. Watching people on twitch they run the killer for like 2-3 minutes I’m down in 10’seconsds.

OhTofu has some good tips on how to better last in a chase. It's all about movement and positioning, though. Knowing what you can use around you and how to take your loops. Running as close to the wall as you can while looping is best.

I'd try replacing Diversion with quick and quiet. If you can break LoS with the Killer probably using a pallet then you can hop into a locker to end the chase.

i've tried doing that strategy a couple of times before. either i accidentally vault a window beforehand or my scratchmarks lead him/her right to me.

Can't help you with the accidental vaults, but for the scrachmarks if you have a little bit of distance you can run a bit PAST the locker and then double back to hop in

Except when i run past, the killer manages to catch up to me or at least see me vault into the locker. it's pretty tough being a solo survivor.

I usually get downed in a minute if I am lucky, since I can do 180 jukes easily, but sometimes too early and end up getting hit. For me I always try to break line of sight. Use Spine Chill or Premonition to decide which direction to go to, keep a lookout for pallets. I use quick and quiet to run into lockers if killers are getting close. Lightweight and Sprint Burst are nice combinations. I also use balanced landing to get away from tall buildings after I know the killer is inside the building. Iron will is a lifesaver for most people, doesn't work well for me though. If I throw pallets down or vault windows, I pretend that I am going one direction, then turn back to the pallet or window and go the other direction, usually works with most killers. Using shacks in maps like Coldwind Farms also provide good insight, window juke killers is easier to do, and pallet throw only when they are able to lunge attack. All-in-all, using perks like Empathy or Alert keeps killers at bay. Lightweight is definitely one of the best perks to run with insight if you know killer is going your direction, so you have a great head start, and killers can't track you down as easily.

My tips on running away from killers. I have a 25% complete escape chance, 10% escaped for now until killer finds me suddenly scenarios. Good luck and have fun. ;)

Ok, so I'm rusty atm, but still ridiculously decent in a chase. And basically my one tip is, when a killer breaks a pallet, you move to the side but wait there just out of sight. And the killer will go the opposite way, thinking you ran that way and you turn the other way.

It's really effective when you're going to a dead zone and you can go back to a place with pallets. Some killers might not fall for it, but for me, 20/23 times it'll work.

You can go for Loops which are in favor for you as a Survivor. Those would be Coldwind-Loops (because seethrough) and Loops on Autohaven, because you can look over many of them. This will help a lot to waste some time of the Killer, he cannot mindgame you (even some try to moonwalk...) so you should be fine.

It is also good to remember strong Loops on the Maps. Three examples:

The Torment Creek Map with the Back Window on the big structure in the middle.

    Myers House on Haddonfield

    Ormond House

The first one is easy loopable three times, if you can combine it with another loop, it is maybe possible to loop more than 3 times.

For the other two, Balanced Landing is needed, you can basically turn those into Infinites.

With all 3 of them, even if you are not experienced in Looping, they should help you out. Chances are also quite high that the Killer will leave you, because he knows that you are in a good position and they dont want to chase you around something where they would most likely not be able to catch up to you.

The biggest tip i've learnt to juke a killer is after you drop a pallet or vault a window act like your going one way.. Stop.. Wait for the killer to cut you off the way you were heading.. Then go the other way

Lithe + Dance with Me can sometimes help to confuse the killer and potentially lose you.

I mainly use Iron Will and it caused the killer to lose me multiple times, especially against Spirit. Would definetly recommend this.

Try to break line of sight as often as possible.

Take iron will and dead hard. Watch yourself from killer s point of view ( imagine you re a killer ). When you break line of sight he cant see you keep that in mind. Run in your own scrathmarks to move from one place to another quick without causing unnecessary scratchmarks. Usually best moment to juke is when you drop pallet early and you know killer is going to break it so you have time to create false scratchmakrs maybe and end up in other place? Try to stay hidden around pallets if killer finds you have an ace up your sleeve which is dead hard and you can basically continue chase without getting downed .

You dont have a very good build for stealth, I suggest you get Urban Evasion and Lightweight and one exhaustion perk.

I use Premonition, Lightweight, Sprint Burst and Urban Evasion, when Premonition ticks I run towards the nearest jungle or obstacle and then switch to crouching walking and try to hide behind more obstacles, it works rather well.

And remember killers and fishes are quite alike, both are attracted to movement, you can hide in plain sight if you stand still near some high grass (except if you play against a survivor main playing killer to get a ritual or something like that).

Its all about practice and knowing the map. When u go for a gen, always think of at least 2 escape routes and think where u go after that. Hug the Walls and never loose sight of Killer (again, practice). Dont waste Pallets like crazy, when u cant loop around pretty much any Tile at least 15-20 seconds (tiles like Jungle Gym longer, Killershak 45-60 seconds until u drop Pallet because of Bloodlust) u do it wrong. Youtube has a lot of stuff on how to loop, its really not that difficult.

    Run these Perks:

    Deadhard

    DS

    Mettle of Man

    Adrenaline

Alternative for Deadhard is any other exaustion Perk beside Sprint Burst, i can recommand Balanced Landing, but in my opinion, Deadhard is the best, since it guarantees you 1 more loop and its not situational + very clutch ;)

U can not break a chase, eventually a good killer will get you, just buy time.

    If u still wanna try:

    Dance with me

    Lithe

    Q&Q

    Iron Will

Obviously only works after u get hit and you can loose sight after that for a moment. Jungle Gym can work (or some infinits)

    gl with ur games

It's mostly about good positionning and knowing how long you can last at one spot, you also need to try and predict what the killer is gonna do to avoid being mindgamed and make the killer mindgame himself.

@Slayer the Jane perk called poised.

If you really want to "break/end" a chase then you will needs perks that hide noise/marks. Against average killers this will work pretty well on most map tiles, but will prove ineffective vs skilled players.

I have this really odd thing going on with Leopard Print Ace that every single game (yes 100% of my 30ish games) I have escaped without being hooked. So I guess you could try and find a lucky shirt like I have ^.^

PS: If you do find a lucky shirt don't play with friends because mine want to ruin my amazing streak.

@Rocketlauncher22 Check out a person called Pain Reliever on YouTube. They have. A video that should help you.

If you decide to not go then at least grab Spine Chill and Balanced Landing.

Spine Chill helps you figure out that the killer knows where you are before they are on top of you.

Balanced Landing is the best perk for expanding chases and the passive effect helps too.
