No, but it did create an unhealthy and unfriendly atmosphere between killers and survivors, and killers became fatigued.

After a long, long time, yes. Besides, that DLC also included Michael, so the perk was not the only selling point. Those not interested on DS, would buy the DLC for Myers instead.
Ash is different. Who would buy him, outside of the fanbase of the Evil Dead series? There is no killer in this DLC. Non-fans are buying Ash just to unlock MoM.

I don't get the obsession with this one... It's like the old DS ... yes it was a pain in the backside but it's rarely that you ever found more than 2 in a single game... Basically the same here but it's even more rare. I've yet to have a match where 2 people have it(talking about both survivor and killer games). I myself don't even use it because it seems pointless to me but then I didn't really use DS either when it was considered op so meh
