Why do I see people against crossplay
I don't understand why people don't like the idea
1. people think this game has a difference between controller and keyboard but what you use doesn't make it easier because the game is chase and hit them, by the way the swing hitbox is cone so only 360s change but still only work against bad players because console killers can still hit just as easy the difference is more pc players will have higher pick rate on nurse and huntress that's it pick rate and that's it
2. Frame rate doesn't change the gameplay between different platforms one might see your movement more smoothly but console already read killers on the frame rate we have so nothing changes there not to mention in time frame rate limit can be increased
3. Cross platform can increase player base because it's a game that you can play with everyone and if I remember correctly dbd will be coming to the switch playbase will be low there and cross platform will make the game playable when it first comes out
4. If there still the argument m/k is still better then controller then enable m/k support on console do everyone has the chance to be on the same playing field.

I'd need someone to explain to me how crossplay could exist because Bill only exists on PC. Unless BHVR is able to arrange getting Bill on console of course. Would be a win win for everyone.
I don't see controller & KB/Mouse being a factor here. I know plenty of good players who use a controller on PC and playing Nurse isn't impossible either. If anything Huntress is more difficult than Nurse with a controller but it's still doable.

I honestly have no problems with cross play. However, Sony might have problems with cross play. There are too many examples to count of games being on multiple platforms and Sony denying any and all cross play abilities.
So aside from the Sony issue, my only concern would be the net increase in toxicity on PC and Xbox if PS4 does get cross play. Then again, anyone can be a jerk.

Yeah, Sony might have some problems with cross play and consoles aren't yet optimized

@Dustin Have him appear as Dwight to players not on PC.
Rocket League does this. PC/Xbox/Switch cant see Sweet Tooth. PC/Xbox/PS4 Can't see Mario/Luigi cars etc.
They just have them appear as default cars to other platforms
4 -
@Peasant Those issues are old. Sony allows it now Fortnite/Rocket League are cross-platform with every platform.
PS4 players vs Xbox and Switch even.

Cross play would be great in theory. It is a huge undertaking though. I'd rather they spend those resources on bug fixes and balancing.

I am not against cross platform 100% it would make it harder for controller users playing killer especially.
A lot of the complaints about killer balance on these forums are from console players as it's harder to deal with 360's for one.
Now if they went via pc players who can 360 on a time at lightning speed sometimes doing 4 or 5 turns in 2 seconds it could make that 3ven worse.
Now take the Nurse who is said to be not great to play on console, on PC they can be immensely strong also take the fact that no good pc killer falls for 360's it makes a it harder for console users overall.
I can also flick my mouse and instantly see behind be or all around me, I don't know if controller is different on console but I tried it on pc to feel it out and I found looking around me took a lot longer, it just felt like I was disadvantaged for using it.
The balance issues between the two could be a problem which cannot be fixed after it happens as buffing console would probably mean that buffing pc happens at the same time, it could be much like the swf and solo scenario where the gap stays the same no matter what they try.
It's one of those things that while it's good for the player number it may not work out as intended or how people think it will.
It has to be a concern as no one wants to be disadvantaged and while mouse and keyboard support helps on consoles how many actually would use them?
I think a good amount of tests should be done where everyone can join and make it something like pc killer vs console survivors and the pc survivors vs killer on console and then a mix of all with each test outlying what they are doing and then release the numbers, at least that way users can then vote and decide if its something they truly want as they know what they will be up against.

KB&M has faster motion than w controller. On top of that, Nurse is powerful with them but trash with a controller in comparison. Similar with Huntress. I know people wanna act like it only affects fps games but Dead by Daylight is still affected by it too.

Those issues still persist. Fortnite and Rocket League are exceptions, not the norm. Sony is still refusing to budge on crossplay in most other cases.

I would like the devs to enable m/kb support on console. Xbox already allows it but no devs have yet to actually make it work for their games. You can only do menu stuff with a keyboard.
However even if they do that, PC has an advantage in frame rate. Xbox has a serious frame rate issue, and I have Xbox One X which can run Gears 4 in 4k at 60fps so it's definitely the game and not the platform. It can be rough as survivor because any sort of notification event will cause frame drops. It's even worse as killer, since you can get serious frame drops when you get the "Survivor Found" notification or Bloodlust and such. 90% of the time I miss an attack it's because of frame rates. Fix this and add m/kb support and crossplay would be a viable option.
However I don't see it happening specifically because of Sony. MS and Nintendo would be fine with it I'm sure, but if you don't have EVERYONE on board then there is no point to doing it.

These people out here on PS4 with half an hour timers, and they're like: "higher population? no thanks, i'll stick to listening to this guitar while i'm waiting at this campfire for another eon."

Unfair. You people are underestimating the power of camera movement.
9 -
Sony might not like that and some players might exploit Crossplay, eh I don't know. I am okay with it.
360'ing is so damn hard on console though, no mouse flicks and pretty sensitive hit boxes.
1 -
360'ing works on bad killers. Shorter queue times for console players is a must.
2 -
Why wouldn't sony like it? Fortnite has crossplay for example.

Sony would rather tout the superiority of its console (at its player base's expense) over helping the competition and potentially dissuading people from getting the Playstation version of a game to play with their PS4 friends. Fortnite and Rocket League were examples of Sony caving to pressure from how hugely popular those games are to avoid looking too bad when the competition is a-okay with crossplay.

Frame rates make a big difference in this game. Console players get like 30fps locked and it makes the game feel sluggish. Also sensitivity of control is way difference. You are able to make much finer aiming adjustments on the mouse as we have a higher sensitivity available to us. Sony is terrible with crossplay. Rocket League spent a huge some of money and Epic really pushed the issue for their game as Sony was actively messing up their game by not allowing crossplay. Also, another thing to point out is that Overwatch while sharing account data isn't crossplay enabled as the game is played so differently between people of mouse and keyboard to those on controllers on console that they take the time to balance both versions of the game separately.
You should also consider the skill gap between pc players and console players. People who tend to be highly skilled on pc tend to remain strong on console, but console players lose strength initially when coming to pc as they have to relearn certain aspects because the controls so much different. It would be nice to have a setup where the gameplay data I had on pc would also be accessible on console, but I'm against crossplay.

I've played this game on both console and PC, and I can say that it really does make a difference. Even now that I've had much more experience with the game in general, I perform considerably better on PC than on console. You get so much more precision on a mouse than joysticks, and when it comes to things like survivors 360ing killers, you really do need precision sometimes, even if it's just chase and hit gameplay. I'm not against cross platform play, but it absolutely can lead to noticeable skill gaps created by the hardware in use.

The only potential problem i see aside from bill would be pro level PC nurse players going against consoles players.
0 -
I'd rather just have cross progression until consoles are running at 60 fps. Sony does not like crossplay though.
2 -
Killer is infinitely more powerful on PC because of the flick.
If crossplay becomes a thing consoles will see influx of nurses and billies that require you to flick to win.
0 -
I'd rather not see killers gutted because console players can't keep up.
1 -
Crossplay would be kinda nice nonetheless, thanks to the dwindling console player-base. Easier for them to get games, even if the games they'll get will be far more difficult.

It would be nice....but it's been my experience that the average console player isn't very loyal. In a P2P environment that makes most games a cash grab more than a community. Not all, but most PC gamers will use their rig to find the community supporting the game they play. The community will help with the games longevity. Not all, but most console players don't seek out a game community. They watch their friends list and what games their friends are playing. Migrating from game to game based on their social circle as opposed to a community to keep and eye on, it's not long before the console gamer moves to a different game.
Example: Take this community, the PC crowd is going to be bigger, of course, the game started out on PC. BUT, if you were to break down the platforms, you would probably see that the console community here has already been through at least 2 "generations" of members. So yeah, probably not worth it.

Crossplay would definitely help to keep the game alive and even help with the queueing/matchmaking. More players means you can be more strict about finding the right matches considering rank and geolocation (even with dedicated servers, location will still be important).
Imho the least problems are to be expected if you would allow crossplay between all console platforms (XBOX, PS4 and Switch-Soon™). Adding PC to that mix might indeed introduce new problems.
2 -
I'm against the idea of crossplay with pc. Some console players might be able to keep up with pc but with the framerate dropping and the difference in using kb/m and controller is too wide. Maybe crossplay with the xbox and the switch would be levelling the playing field and also it would lesson wait times.
Using kb/m is much easier than controller and being forced to play with some people who has an advantage is not fun. But this is my opinion. If crossplay happens, I will still play.

I think developers can add crossplay gamemode but you can always off finding crossplaying players.

The dream of any r1 survivor : playing against r1 console killers the whole day .... "PRAISE for Crossplay"
0 -
I don't particularly care if we get actual cross-play but one thing I would absolutely love is if our account data was synced across platforms so I could play DBD on the Switch without having two separate progressions.
In addition, DBD needs to reach its targeted 60 FPS on console and PC (minimum specs) before they add actual cross-play as that would largely close the skill gap between console and PC players.
1 -
It wouldn't be fair with the FPS issues consoles are having, FPS matters alot for timing things in games.
Once the FPS issues are fixed tho, i'm down for it, but until then? No.

I mean I'm fine with crossplay between PlayStation & Xbox, but crossplay between Console & PC?
No way!
0 -
This confirms why I don't want crossplay.... it clearly would be so imbalanced due to the limited of maneuverability on a controller compared to keyboard and mouse.
0 -
Its fine to have crossplay just make sure to include the option to enable/disable it if some people dont want to play against other pc players
0 -
I'd like it, but I'd feel bad for killers. Me and my brother playing together would make some very unfair games for the killers. 🤣🤣🤣
Jokes aside, I want it.

I HATE the idea of cross play. The nice thing about playing on console is that it is a fairly level playing field. Everyone's machine has the same specification. Everyone is using the same controllers. The only thing that really differentiate players is their internet connection and that isn't something that can really be controlled.
PC players are the opposite of that. They can fiddle with their graphic card settings to provide clear advantages such as lowering fog settings, changing color settings to make survivors stand out, etc. There is also huge disparity between PCs with high end graphics and consoles. This doesn't even factor in the difference between keyboard & mouse vs game controllers.
So yeah, PC players can just ruin each other's experiences. Leave us console players the hell out of it. If they forced cross play on console players, that really might be the thing to drive me away from the game.
1 -
Yeah I agree 100% with @Dreamnomad, PC has so many advantages compared to console.
This is also why I dont like k+m support on console cause it's much more unfair to have a nurse with k+m than with just a controller.
