If used with Botany, it's pretty good.

It doesn't actually waste any extra time as the 16 seconds more to heal yourself equates to the same time off a gen as you and another survivor healing you and you dont have to waste time finding them.

That is why there is a non heal meta and gens go faster, each time you don't heal up can be 32 s of a gen done.

Leader's a good alternative if you want others to heal you. Puts pressure on them to heal you first too.

That 32 seconds is even stronger with Prove Thyself.

I always run Botany with it. That and I’m not willing to put my life in the hands of a DbD random.

Yeah Botany never used to work with SC, but now that it does it's worth taking if you pair them. I stopped using SC as a crutch and then they nerfed healing, rendering it useless. I'm serious, between the nerf, Legion, Plague, and Resilience, why on earth would I want to heal? It takes a full minute with killers running Butcher, Thana, Phobia, etc. I can just blitz a gen instead. Which has led to the genrush meta. It sucks for both sides.

*^ meant Thana & the clown phobia perks

You selfcaring and your "healer" on a gen is still more efficient than you both stuck healing you.

Even if swfs can communicate healing better than randoms, this fact will not stop.

Dont blame killer perks if survivors are too dumb to change their healing strats when facing thana plus sloppy, both perks' healing penalties are lower than selfcare's. Equipping selfcare doesnt stop you from getting healed by others. Maybe dont let thana stack to 4? Killer uses 2 perks to "counter" selfcare, which can be negated by simply grtting healed normally.

Self care has its uses like you can actually heal yourself to 99% with MoM up take a hit, heal the 1% then you're full hp. Also going to save with BT doesn't really work if you're injured.

Its like saying stop with the ruin perk nobody will listen to you if ppl want to equip it they equip it if they dont want to use it then they wont equip it simple than thst

Self Care allows your team to focus on objectives.

Searching and getting healed by someone takes away time they could either do some gens or occupy the killer.

You don't need to group up and can apply more spread map pressure.

Then there is a lot of tricks you can do by 99% yourself.

MoM was mentioned but also perks like resilient that boots almost all your actions. Combined with SC with almost no downside!

If you just focus on the inefficient healing you lack the bigger picture.

With Adrenaline in the game, healing becomes obsolete for some players.

Self care unlocks a really useful mechanic that can be a real clutch factor in a lot of situations. The perk makes the healing slower so its considerably balanced. And if you really hate facing survivors using the perk then take the sloppy bucher perk.

I don’t see an issue with the very thing that makes nurses calling so effective. It’s a perfect 1:1 balance. Leave it I say.

I have not used self care since I started this game late december. I tried it but I always find medkits and randoms more reliable. I don't know why so many responses here seem to have bad luck with randoms healing them but people seem to like farming so I let them take some points. I won't lie though, I get some of those games where having self care couldve helped me help myself or someone else. But it's ok, I'd still rather take a medkit.

? I think you misundertsood, this wasn't a suggestion for a buff, in fact you proved my exact point that by using it you're buffing a meta perk

Because I want to. Fight me lol

Nah but for real, it's just more convenient and it's especially helpful at the end of games when I'm the only one left and need to heal myself before looking for hatch.

Also as someone mentioned, sometimes I want to 99% myself because certain perks only work when injured.

Also realistically, the only time you self care is when you are hurt but the killer breaks off of the chase with you to do something else, or when you get unhooked and the killer decides to chase the other person instead of you (the few times that actually happens because people have no honor XD). So I'd rather heal myself than take time to look for someone else to stop what they are doing and heal me.

Do you play solo? Do you know how absolutely unreliable your fellow survivors are at healing? Sure, some good eggs will heal you up (like me, I am a very nice teammate who will heal you and even trade places so you can live,) but dear lord either it’s swf who will use you as a sacrificial lamb, sand baggers, or they could miss a skill check especially with HL.

I personally never felt comfortable relying only on medkits because some games chests spawn only flashlights and boxes, leaving you exposed or at others’ mercy. Self care is insurance. Self care comes in mighty handy when paired with botany and I become a super healer.

It’s so annoying to spectate a player who would literally self care for 40+ seconds with sloppy butcher and maybe thana and in that time another teammate is struggling on the hook whilst the other one is getting chased... Just use Iron Will with a Med-Kit.

I tend to run bond in it's place; saves time and you get reunited points more often ;)

plus it helps you to avoid affecting other people's gen work while in chase.

  • NuclearBurrito

Self cares time save comes from the amount of time it would take to find a teammate instead.

Thus it's value will always be the same no matter how long it takes to heal.

So no perks like sloppy and thanataphobia do NOT counter SC. Those perks counter healing, and thus would be to negate botany, SC's timesave is exactly the same even with the slowest possible healing.

That being said just bring a medkit or something ffs. You don't heal that often in a match and using the self heal from a medkit is the most efficient method of healing by far except for using an instaheal.

Pharmacy or Solidarity are way better than Self Care.

Have you played solo? You are lucky to get rescued from the hook half the time.

  • SunderMun

in that scenario running prove thyself also has a benefit since they're getting the increased gen speed before you join, and then you get some more bp for working with them ;)

The mere concept of not having to depend on others to heal is why it's so popular.

You'd need to drastically nerf this Perk or change its concept to push people away from it.

After the Healing tweak I changed the perkslot. But you know you played it for yearw and its like a drug and you miss it and things like that

But yea now its completely gone because it's Inefficient his father. 2 simple heals tooks ca. 1 generator depending on the killer built and killer PER survivor. So yea Im playin bond now to become more efficiency. Im also Thinking about: bond, prove, BT and adrenaline/dead hard.

What do you guys think is a perfect time efficient survivor perk built?

(Alert can also be helpful knowing where deadzones could be or at least the killer and what hes doin)

MoM, DS, Adrenaline, DH, BT, Deliverance, Unbreakable with Instaheals ofc

Not getting hooked due to perks is efficient as #########. Why heal when you get healed for free 5 times and ignore the killers hits. Thats up to 20 ignored hits in a match, isnt that fair and balanced in a 4-swf.
