Getting punished for destroying the survivors?
So, I'm playing Billy at rank 4 and I utterly destroyed a group of survivors, chases were about 1-10 seconds as I only had to not use my chainsaw for about 4 hits, because of this I only got bronze chase, I got 1 iridescent, 2 gold and the low chase.
So because I was doing too good I didn't pip? How does that make any sense lol. I was so much better than my opponents I only get a black pip how does that make any sense when I should be ranking up to be put against harder opponents.

1 iridescent and 2 golds is a pip... As I'm sure... You should've done what I do... When there is one person and more than 3 gens left to do (cuz they got rekt) farm the last guy but kill him after you get chase points and pallet destroys... Let them get one gen done but then kill them...

I mean if you don't believe me thats your opinion. I'm not sure how I can prove it to you but basically 2 of them killed themselves on hook and the other 2 were simply not very good.
If you don't believe me sure but this was just my rant based off of what happened.

I didn't know chase was based off how long I fail to catch them so I didn't realise I had to do that at the end :( There were 5 gens left so I should've done that but I thought I did enough.
Btw copied off of the DBD wiki page: 8-11 Points 0 (Safety) Pip
it is not a pip it is a de-pip or a black pip (whatever you call it)
1 iridescent is 4 points, 2 golds are 6, 1 bronze is 1. So 11 points.

Yep it goes both ways. If you have a trash killer or trash survivors you can't rank.

You need 13 points to pip at red ranks. 1 iri and 2 golds is only 10 points. He would need another gold to pip.

The scoring system is too dependent on the skill of the other side rather than your own skill. Honestly, I don't even believe that. I feel the system is just set up to force players to give other players opportunities to play the game. Which is borked because if you're truly skilled at the game and just plowing through opponents you should be moving up the ladder. Any other game with ranks is designed that way. This game on the other hands wants your to play in ways that don't reward singular skill.

There was a forum on the survivor side that was about a guy who depipped from being chased for all 5 gens and killers were in there telling him it's his fault for not losing the killer /shrug

You should honestly ignore rank, but otherwise while yea it is depressing to not pip after destroying your opponents you don't pip bc if you destroyed them then it was clear they weren't supposed to be at that rank therefore you don't get to pip.

First, the only thing you get for ranking is an achievement. If you've already gotten it, it's probably better to not bother. Que time are awful from what I've heard. Second, I believe there's a reason to that. If people are feeding you kills and running into you so that you get an easy down, you didn't do anything to show you deserve the pip. Survivors also won't pip (despite escaping) if the killer isn't good at all and doesn't down anyone or only downs like one person.

If you don't get all your hooks (they kill themselves on hook), that can impact your points and your pip. Same for survivor, too.
1 -
@fluffybunny you say "If people are feeding you kills and running into you so that you get an easy down, you didn't do anything to show you deserve the pip."
That's a wrong concept. Ranking up is not a reward. It's a tool to group players with others on their skill level. If you get a fast 4K it shouldn't matter it's because of survivors being potatoes, you still should rank up, so next time you'll have more of a chance to be matched against better survivors.
2 -
That was his fault. At the end of the day you know you're not going to be rewarded for running a killer for 5 gens anymore. If you can run a killer for 5 gens then the killer is doing something wrong. The game wants you to break from chases so you can get counted as having 'won' the chase. If you stay in chase for a long time and never escape the killer then you don't get your full score. Not to mention the game wants you do all aspects of gameplay which you can't if you're in a chase. You have have to know when and how to get out of a chase. Just like killers need to know when to stop chasing a single survivor.
Though, the game shouldn't have your score and rank be so dependent on the actions of your opposition.

@George_Soros I thought that was their logic behind their ranking system. Survivor pips are heavily reliant on your team and the opposition, too. I agree with Reiko. I was just shedding some light as to why people aren't getting pips. It's happening to both sides.

Weclome to Dead by Daylight, where being good punishes you.

But why does everyone only care about completely destroying a team? I don't see the point in playing a game for it to end so quick and hardly get anything from it.
If I start destroying a team I'll just let them save a few people so I can get more points and extend the game. I don't get any satisfaction off killing everyone in 3 mins when I might be using survivor pudding or add-ons.
Am I the only one who tries to play out a good game rather than end it quick?

Wait! You are'nt getting punished for killing the survivors?! More nerfs to killers! Make another patch of nothing but killer nerfs and call it andgame 2.0!

@CashelP14 yup it's one of the funny/annoying effect of the current pipping system: If my last two survivors still have two hooks in them, I always try to slug both, hook one, keep dropping the other next to the hooked one, let them rescue, down again, hook the other, repeat... more points for all of us.
Frankly, onehooking someone (last survivor, by facecamping, or simply because no one is rescuing) should give you the same amount of BP and Emblem score as hooking three times.

@George_Soros If I have 2 hooked one down and I see the last person I'll just ignore them and let them save. I hate a game ending with less than 25k points.
Although I slightly disagree with the 3 hooks score for 1 hook thing. It would encourage more people to face camp and I hate that mentality.
1 hooking can be annoying because of people killing themselves but I'd rather that than reward face campers.

I ended up having to switch killers because of this. Now I'm playing Huntress and I'm doing better for pips I dont always win anymore though.
I hate the new system. It feels more rewarding as a survivor and killer, but the flaws are obvious. My pips should not have to rely on others honestly.

@CashelP14 well, about the facecamp part: yes, understandably the devs don't want to encourage camping. But that also leads to a problem: camping only works against potato/rescuehappy survivors, any survivor with decent skills will know what to do in this case. So if you actually manage to facecamp and capitalize on the overaltruism of survivors, you should still rank up, so you finally get to a point where you have to realize facecamping is not working. It simply shouldn't be the purpose of the ranking system to prevent facecamping. This is something that must be done through gameplay mechanics. I'd be completely down for making hook states longer, so even the most devoted facecampers give up eventually.
Well, some of them will never give up, but they're already a minority.

@George_Soros yea I see your point. It doesn't matter if no one tries to save them I think a face camper shouldn't get 3 hook points for just standing there.

Yeah it's stupid. The same happens if you mori all of them.
Literally yesterday I got the achievement of Myers about killing all of them with EW3 and I depiped even if I did won a few chases and hooked at least in 3 times.
The same happens as survivor. If you don't have the time to touch a gen you will be punished by the rank system even if you escape. It's no sense.

You obviously dominated survivors that posed no challenge to you. So the game determined you did not deserve a pip for clubbing baby seals. Working as intended.

@darktrix "You were matched up against players who are much weaker than you and, naturally, stomped them to oblivion. This is obviously not what we want, so we're gonna keep you at the same rank, which will guarantee you're matched with more players like that."
If this is working as intended, I'd like to see what happens if it's not working as intended.
