BHVR’s Ghost Face Scare Factor Vs Original Design Scare Factor
Original GhostFace Scare Factor:
BHVR’s GhostFace Scare Factor

First of all, that is NOT the original Ghostface . That is from the first Scary Movie film, which was a parody of Scream, thus is the reason for that design of the character. I'll take the ACTUAL original Ghostface over the ridiculous DBD version any day of the week. I apologize for the aggressive comment, but I suppose that's just my passion for the character and franchise talking. I'm just so tired of people mocking/trash talking Ghostface . For some odd reason, this community seems to have a lot of hate for him and the franchise .

You do realize that's from the comedy Scary Movie, right? I'm sure you do. The Scream films are way different in terms of scare factor. Consider watching this scene from Scream 4 as an example. Pretty scary and suspenseful if you ask me.

None of the scream movies are actually scary, ghostface isn't a scary killer, the dbd version is honestly something that makes me enjoy the character which i never cared about growing up. so glad that legal stuff made them have to use a diff outfit, it is way better than anything from the slasher flicks

Yeah as above the movies aren't scary/thrilling (but few traditional slashers are they're more comedic personally probably bc they haven't aged well) but I really did like the 1st and 4th ones bc they were a refreshing spin on some creepy weird guy starts killing people for no/minimal reason etc (*cough* F13 series). Yes, well it may be different to not get a full movie based ghostface chapter I think this version is more an "inspired by" bc as you'd know from the movies it's more of an idea than one continuous killer. I'm interested for sure, it may not be any of the movies ghostface, but there's more potential this way anyway.
@TheShape78 mostly talking to your comment I guess buddy, you got me thinking about it.

😂 Poor grandma!

I was going to defend him but then realised what that would look like with my forum pfp
# sorry son0 -
Yeah. And it emphasizes my point. The costume is IDENTICAL and looks ridiculous.

So you automatically associate a simple black cloak to a comedy that has nothing to do with the original(Scream) other than being its parody? Righhhhht
1 -
You make no sense. That costume isn’t scary enough to maintain its grit in a comedic setting. An outfit is an important part of a killer. Parody or not if his design is so simple that you can be desensitized to them through a parody then there’s a problem.
He just wasn’t interesting enough to really stand out until now.
2 -
I make no sense, yet you're still okay with the mask and only have a problem with a simple black robe. LOL, okay sweetie. You're just delusional if you associate his black costume to his parody rather than to the original. It looks better than a medieval RPG game outfit that BHVR gave him.
2 -
I can make a meme out of this
When you smell food from down stairs

Lol there is nothing wrong with a mask that looks like a distorted face. That’s unsettling. So you’re dissing his mask now and acknowledging that he just isn’t scary in his original form?
Medieval RPG has more flavor and character than a big black onesie,”sweetie” so drop your attitude or see yourself out.
it doesn’t matter what I associate his costume with. I’ve seen both the parody and the real deal, he’s just not intimidating enough, yeah he’s pretty brutal at times but he gets his ass kicked pretty bad quite a bit and it remove a lot of his threat at times and it humanizes him. Don’t get me wrong, his character is really lovable but there’s no true identity to him because multiple people are ghost face killers
DBD is giving him one identity and restoring that identity again.
Scream was was never true horror, it’s appeal was through self awareness and commentary on horror tropes and making fun of them. Yes it’s a good slasher film in it’s own right, but the fear factor has been drastically increased.
BHVR’s vision looks to make him someone who’s sanity and humanity is long gone, and that’s the DBD way.
2 -
I just know he's going to cause me to have a Dead Space 2 moment where you are going about your business and you turn the camera to see just his head poking out.
Only thing that scared me in Dead Space 2. Otherwise I feel his look fits the game more though I can understand why Scream fans would be disappointed.
0 -
Not scream fans, DBD’s unpleasable fan base.
3 -
@SuperPrincessChaser I love dead space. Stalkers are scary but the infants traumatized me.
0 -
How am I dissing his mask by asking you if you're okay with it? Like..what? lmao Anyway, there is nothing wrong with a black cloak as oppose to his outfit that he currently has which looks like a bootleg version of Ghostface rather than the one everyone knows.
Saying that his medieval outfit has more flavor and character than his original one is an unpopular opinion coming from someone who isn't a huge Scream fan obviously. Even proving it by associating it with the Scary Movie Parody. So that just shows your sense of entitlement because most of the original die-hard Scream fans would disagree.
His black robe makes him look way more intimidating if you ask me. It's based on the "Father Death" outfit that terrified many throughout even the course of history. Think of the Father Death outfit as the Grim Reaper in a sort of way. That striped hooded Ghostface just doesn't make him have the same feel.
So why didn't DBD give an identity(their own) to Freddy, Michael, Leatherface, etc? We both know why. Cuz that's a disservice and the same thing applies for Ghostface and Scream.
Sure Scream may have not been as scary as Halloween or F13, but it still did keep that horror aspect to it while staying true to Wes Craven's original idea. Scream itself was a hit success and whenever someone mentions it, the ENTIRE outfit comes to mind.
Changing a robe won't make a character any less sane or inhuman. Bad logic.
1 -
Honestly Scream is my favorite horror franchise and Ghostface is probably my favorite slasher, but I agree that the new design is amazing. Don't get me wrong, I'm still holding out hope for a black robe cosmetic, but this new grey butcher design is really cool and scary and I think it fits the playstyle of the new killer.

It would look equally ridiculous if the one in Scary Movie was wearing the DBD outfit.

I've always said that if they bring in a licensed character, then they should do the franchise justice and stay true to the license. I loved Scream, and I wished they made him what he was from the movies as I remembered. His outfit just doesn't cut it for me.
1 -
“You’re not a scream fan because I said so” is basically what you just said lol. Push off dude. You don’t get to label me as anything, You just lost all credibility you held by saying something so inept and weak as a substitute for an intelligent laced with reasonable statements.
You literally criticized me for being ok with the mask but not the rest of the outfit. Now you’re not even understanding what you yourself said.
Changing his robe doesn’t make him any less human, that’s not at all what I said. I said his now unknown killer identity and lack of speech makes him more evil and the robe compliments this new aggressive change. Now he feels more like the grim reaper than some angsty weirdo obsessed with slasher movie trivia.
He’s got that silent sinister feel to him. It’s a good change. Your opinion hasn’t moved me and neither has your current childish behavior of labeling me. I suggest you move on because this isn’t getting anywhere.

You understand that you are trying to say the generic flappy ghost body you can buy at any haloween store 3 months before haloween, is better then the detailed costume he has in Dbd.
Sorry, i just don't see it. It's thin black material with some flaps cut. it has no detail, it doesn't add much to the costume as a whole.
I stand by my previous statement. If we were to get a scream reboot today, GF would look similar to what we got. Because the costume has more depth.
3 -
@SmokePotion I think that the issue here is not how cheap or detailed the costume is.
They could have done Leatherface scarier, they could have given Myers a different outfit with a different knife that makes him look more intimidating and scary etc.
The problem here is that people want to see the original slashers, not their redesigned versions even if the redesign is better or has more depth.

No idea what you are trying to say by using a clip from Scary movie, a ######### comedy, and then trying to compare it to DBD Ghostface stalking someone?
Also the scare factor of Scream always was about how much of a deranged creep the killer was, never how "scary" his costume was, no idea why people even bring his look up when they talk about him being scary, it's like they never actually watched the movie.
Eitherway, you can't make a killer like ghostface scary in a multiplayer videogame, because it lacks alot of layers that made the actual killer scary in the movies wich you can't reproduce in this kinda game, and honestly DBD never was scary, maybe stressful but not scary.
2 -
So why would you associate the black robe to the Scary Movie parody if you're a Scream fan? When something is obvious, then it's obvious. I don't get why you are so salty lol
Never once did I criticize you for it. I asked you a simple question since you seemed to dislike the robe and I was curious to know if you disliked the mask as well. Lack of comprehension skills, but it's all good bruh.
I added him being more inhuman on top of the outfit change not making him any less sane. If you first watched the Scream movie, then you'd know that the identity was a mystery throughout the movie. You didn't know if it was Billy Loomis or Stu Macher for example. His new DBD robe doesn't give him more mystery than he did in the Scream movies. His outfit was like the Grim Reaper's which added that fear factor to it even though the person under the outfit was a teenager.
He's got more of a bootleg feel to him now. His outfit was what made him iconic on top of the mask. I'm not trying to move you with my opinion either. I'm just just telling you mines.

Longtime Scream fan here and I like the design.

So I’m starting to believe most people saying Scream and Ghostface aren’t scary are saying it to be edgy.
Ghostface is scary. Every other horror icon is cold blooded, ruthlessly single minded in the kill. The victims were screen fodder for you to practically delight in seeing them killed, and the killers were matter of fact about it - nothing personal, just business.
Scream completely turns this on its head. Ghostface is hot blooded and enjoys playing with their food before goring the hell out of them and making them suffer. Scream humanizes the characters and make us root for them and feel sad when they die - the opening scene of Scream perfectly encapsulates this.
Not only that, but YES part of what makes Ghostface terrifying IS that he’s human. The boy next door. The class clown. Ghostface highlights the barbarity and monstrosity humans are capable of, even somebody you knew loved or trusted.
Ps: Scream, unlike other classic slashers, was made in the era of growing domestic terror, lone wolves full of hate looking to make it big by shooting and mass murdering. Michael Myers is not real. Ghostface is.
2 -
TBF there is nothing scary about Myers design either. What makes him scary is the fact he is a psycho murder boi. Same thing with Ghostface, he doesn't LOOK scary but he kills people and for most of the movie you don't know who he is so you are constantly wondering who is the man behind the mask.
1 -
I love ghostface but he is probably the most least coordinated slasher killer out of them all.
Hell he almost loses to Tatum hell the only reason he even manages to kill her is because she had a moment of stupidity and instead of curb stomping his ass she tried to go through a cat flap
1 -
It's also an exploration of the copcat killer concept. When Scream came out there was talk about this in the media. People were afraid people would copy what they saw in games like Grand Theft Auto, and Horror movies. So they used that concept to make a human slasher.
0 -
Yes, that is exactly what I'm saying. Sometimes, less is more my friend.
1 -
I can agree with the statement, but not the instance.
I get it, you want the iconic GF image. That's cool. I just think this version looks better.
5 -
Yeah man, it's all good. I can get used to the new look, I'll just have to get the closest design to the original .
0 -
I hope Behaviour doesn't base their decisions on these forums. Some of you got some crazy opinions. 😂
0 -
The outfit wasn't supposed to be scary, it was literally a Halloween costume anyone could buy. The scary part was not knowing who was trying to kill you. Scream is one of those films where you had to be there to get now. It literally saved the horror genre and made it more mainstream by doing something different.
2 -
Actually it didn't save the horror genre. It saved and redefined the slasher subgenre, but even without Scream we would still have plenty of horror, just less meta and much fewer slashers.
0 -
And that’s your crazy opinion bro.
0 -
This ghost face looks cool he does have scare appeal
0 -
I disagree.

Let's be honest here, does anyone really care about Ghostfaces original outfit compared to DBDs?
One is a black robe, the other is a grayish black robe (some say grayish ???blue???) so does anyone honestly care about this or are people just complaining because they want something to complain about?
1 -
I only saw the barebones leak vid but im a sucker for those flowing thin cloth straps in bhvr design.
The original with it huge sleeves and flowwy "spoopy halloween ghost costume" design ... would probably be hard to animate lol.
Bhvr's design seems somewhat more practical for actually moving in the outfit.
Also: licensed outfits will be a thing soon, so a "original scream" outfit might be a thing too.

Just an FYI, I know it’s from the parody. I’m injecting humor into the post.
