Have they ever release data on how many people are 'survivor-mains' vs 'killer-mains'?

Just out of curiosity, have they ever release data on how many 'mains' are on each side? I was thinking of making a poll but imo the forum would be skewed toward exclusively-survivor/killer players because they're more likely to complain about the other side.

For those that are interested, you'd get this data by taking each player's # of games and see the % of game played as killer/survivor per player. Say, if we take % of games as killers for the baseline, then 0% would mean exclusively-survivor player while 100% would mean exclusively-killer player. Then you just put everyone's % in a nice chart and see the spread.

should be 4 survivor for 1 killer

but since killer queues taking much longer its probably like 3:1 or something rn

I've been wondering this myself. It should be a 4 to 1 ratio, but because of the difference in wait times for lobbies I decided to look it up, but exact numbers are difficult to find.

The first bit of information I found is from October 2018 in a steam forum.(https://steamcommunity.com/app/381210/discussions/0/1733216261954714867/)Someone commented that there is an "Over abundance of killers." but that isn't really an estimate and there's no source for where their numbers come from.

The next place I went was here, where I looked at the discussions along the side bar. Currently there are 4.5K discussions in the killers chat room and only 3.8k in the survivors. This should also give us a good idea of how many are playing them as mains, but I'm betting not everyone who plays visits the web sight. That aside it does give us a good indication of who does visit, and who talks in the chat rooms. Looking at the numbers it's easy to see that killers are way more likely to participate in the forums rather than survivors. Which means, if they're looking for information regarding what the community wants, it's most likely skewed in the killers favor. As the balance of the game dictates a 4 to 1 ratio, this is really bad for the game. Even if they did a vote to see what people wanted the numbers would be likely to come out skewed in the killers favor, because their votes would overpower the killers. That's a problem that probably needs looking into.

I don't think they should do that... The less the Devs feed into the "Main" BS the better.

I think the Devs would like people to enjoy both sides of the game as it helps provide better feedback and less arguments when people can see both sides of the coin.

I would disagree with that last bit. Killers simply talk more than Survivors in my opinion.

You also have to realize that all Killers are different. Which means a wide verity of gameplay for each Killer, different powers and abilities. Survivor gameplay is static, there isn’t no difference other than what perks to use. So many come to the forums looking for tips and advice on how to best play certain Killers. Where and its universal for Survivor.

Think of it like this : there are 15 (soon to be 16) different Killers all requiring different play styles. There are many questions about how to best play each one, specifically at base, as well as best add on combos, perks that synergies well with that Killer and their power.

Survivor is the same across the board. There is no difference in gameplay other than perk selection. This, no real questions. Not much reason to discuss gameplay as a Survivor.

Thats why there’s such and offset of Killers to Survivors on the forums. Killers have more to discuss, Survivors don’t.

In my experience, most Survivors Mains come to the forums just to complain about Killers, camping, Tunneling, and “OP Killers/Perks.” Killers complain about survivor items, perks, and Looping mind you. However, with added discussion about how best to play each individual Killer and add on’s, perks, and such.

I consider everyone who plays 30% one side and 70% the other side (or even more extreme) a main.
