A cool idea for a revised Mettle Of Man
So I was thinking about what the devs wanted to do with protection hits but let’s be honest, who in their right mind is gonna get hit 3 times for protection? I had a better idea with a hit from fully healed, a hit while protecting and a hit while injured in a match. This would be a fun and honestly better way to balance this perk as you don’t have to exist to have it activate and it requires a little bit of protection without it being impossible to acheive.

Not trying to be rude, but can we stop talking about MoM?
Also, what they suggested is one of many variations they're working on. The final design could be way different when it comes out.

The protection idea is fine. People get bodyblocking hits all the time anyway. Last I checked that counts as protection.

It also can go towards that achievement "Take one for the Team" the most annoying of them all.

Survivors that like to body block will benefit from this perk. If the protection part goes through then every killer can be able to counter this perk.

It could also open up opportunities for Mad Grit to be worth running too which would be nice since it's currently pretty niche

oh then that sounds amazing. I only heard that the idea was being played around with and wanted to think of a cool idea of needing certain hits. However I can’t wait to see how the change will impact the game.

The suggested change seems better

That almost seems easier to activate than the current version of MoM.

While I think 2 protection hits might be better than 3 protection hits, 1 protection hit is too little. Also, a hit while injured is another naturally occuring requirement just like the current system so I don't even bother counting it.

This is easier to activate than the current version. Two of those hits will come naturally, meaning you only have to try to get one hit. 3 protection hits is a good idea because you have to actively try to get it by bodyblocking.

@Peanits It sounds to me like the rework idea is going to be much easier to pull off if you play SWF though, doesn’t it? It seems that what’s happening is we will be remedying the issue of MoM in how it’s strong against weaker killers, but now putting a survivor version spin on it. Now the perk will only be useful if you play 3-4 man SWF, who are the players who don’t really need it, and those that do need it (solo players) won’t be able to run it. As a solo player, I can’t see myself ever using it. Three protection hits is just too much, especially considering you’d probably have to take Empathy as well to have any shot. Just not worth it from the sound of it, but I guess we’ll see.

What if Mettle of Man only worked with protection hits? Like you take 3 hits like normal, but you only get the invulnerability (additional health state) when you take a protection hit?

That would be time for my basement leatherface with Mad grit to shine.

Then the perk would be as useless as No One Left Behind

Only it's not useless for solo. Also SWF isn't as much of a problem as people think. You can play around team bodyblocking, and if you're truly worried about it you can run Mad Grit to punish it. The survivors have to waste time healing each time they get hit bodyblocking so it's not like all this is happening simultaneously to 3 gens being worked on. It's really not as bad as you make it out to be.

No no, I think you are misinterpreting what I mean. I am not speaking from a killer perspective on how to play against it whatsoever. What I am saying is that as a survivor player, it would be significantly easier to get your 3 protection hits playing in communication with friends than it will be playing solo. So the rework idea favors SWF players over solo, which I find kinda dumb as solo players are the ones more in need of a good perk. That’s what I mean. It’s basically saying hey here’s this potentially good perk, but if you play solo it’s probably never worth bringing

So giving 3 free hits + having to heal 3 times because yes, it's worth an extra hit? I don't think so. If they change MoM to 3 protection hits it will become trash tier inmediately. I don't get the why there are so many useless and situational perks in the game. Barely 10% are worthy.
2 -
Because this is a killer forum, and the deny anything that can help survivors.
2 -
If they want to make it as hard as getting 3 protection hits, at least it should work against any kind of hit, not just M1. Chainsaws, hatches, etc. too.
It wouldn't be worth it anyway, but at least you would be guaranteed to take profit from it.

I always take 3 protection hits, in fact, I call this a buff to MoM and not a nerf, because you can simply wait for a survivor to be picked up and run over and take a hit, 1 charge out of 3 and protection points, run WGLF and it give out a ton of BP

Well, I'll know it's you when I'll see MoM in a survivor.
