Reducing the Grind! A Two Step Plan.

The grind sucks! It's only getting worse with every chapter. What can we do to fix it? This:

First, condensing bloodpoint offerings. This will let people get more bloodpoints more often, and spend less on useless offerings.

Remove useless offerings:

  • Remove all 12 of survivor's flower offerings
  • Remove all 12 of killer's wreath offerings
  • Remove both survivor's envelopes and killer's hollow shell

Add in 3 new personal offerings:

  • One that grants 25% extra Bloodpoints in all Categories.
  • One that grants 50% extra Bloodpoints in all Categories.
  • One that grants 75% extra Bloodpoints in all Categories.

Second, remove perk tiers.

At this point, as of 2.7.0, there are 65 survivor perks and 57 killer perks. With the fact that you can only take one perk tier per bloodweb, and there are three tiers, you have to grind through 195 levels for survivor and 171 levels for killer.

On average, you spend ~20k bloodpoints from level 1 to 30, ~30k from 30 to 40, and ~40k from 40 to 50, and ~50k for level 50 bloodwebs.

That's ~8,550,000 bloodpoints to max out one survivor and ~7,350,000 bloodpoints to max out one killer.

That's a bit much yeah?

Removing perks tiers and making perks their level three version by default does two things: reduces grind and let's the devs have more space to balance perks better.

To compensate, all perks should be very rare. This organizes the perk menu a little better (It'll just be by alphabetical) and it increases the grind by a slight bit in return for reducing the grind by 2/3.

"The grind" is what keeps us veteran players playing. I'd hate to see it reduced.

The grind needs to be lessened for sure. It's too much.

The blood point offering change seems like a really good idea. I have over 1000+ hours and have only managed to max out my Dwight in between prestiging my other survivors and leveling up my killers at the same time.

I really hope they'll do something about it. It's getting pretty intense.

I've been here since beta with 2.5k hours and if the grind was as you proposed I would have had nothing left to work towards long ago.

@T0xicTyler You'd have P3 Level 50 max perks every killer and every survivor?

Either way, perk tiers are a cop-out way to increase content.

What's the point of maxing out Survivors? Max out your main Survivor and Killers and then be done with it. You're acting like someone is holding a gun to your head forcing you to grind.

I disagree that perk tiers are a cop-out.

I've suggested countless times they'd add a 5th perk slot just for WGLF & BBQ... This way nobody would need to sacrifice their build just for a few more bps

Alright everyone here is experienced with DBD, but think about new players that are brand new to this game. I tried to pull my friends into playing this game, most of them like it cause it's not hard to learn mechanic of the game, but it's impossible for them to play fair&square with the perks difference. Imagine you're a new killer and 4 survivors with all the perks, items, addon... that is a nightmare.

eh, i don't like the removal of offerings i actually use.

More likely you should remove reagents for Killer. (only killer I have ever used a reagent on was hag, to help hide my traps.)

And the offering that makes everyone start together/ them start with one other person. This is mostly redundant since they changed the survivor spawns to be further from the killer. I start every trial with one other person, if not my whole team, when playing survivor.

An easy way to fix the grind is to unlock perks people have unlocked, at rank 1, without the need to find it on the bloodweb. And new killers/survivors should start with all 4 slots open. Starting someone with 1 perk is dumb. Even if they are brand new, they should have the 3 basic perks of who they are playing.

My one step plan for reducing grind.

    Equip BBQ & Chili!

    Profit.

I have just over 2k hrs and have maxed out 10killers and 2 survivors.

All other killers are approx P3L130 and I will finish them by the time Ghostface is released. Job done.

Extra Events and weekends are always appreciated, but the grind is fine.

  • As a Veteran player myself, I would love to see it reduced.

In fact I have many times wanted to quit the game and I have taken long breaks, because the grind is so dry and tedious. I must rather want to Equip the Perks I want and have fun, not being forced the use BBQ, Distressing, Beast of Prey, Thrill of the Hunt all the time to keep hitting those 32000 bps every game.

If there was no grind, I didn't have to do that, I might even play to enjoy the game.

@TheGameZpro3 yes, remove all three of those offerings and add in a single offering in replacement.

@AntiJelly bru theres a thing called a bound envelope and or just an envelope that already increases bp by 25%

The grind is fine if you have a problem with it dont prestige anyone

The grind is fine. It gives us long-time players something to do while killing or getting killed.

Newbie players can get fully functional with most perks they need in just 100 hours or so. It's no big deal. You need way more than 100 hours to actually play this game at a skill level where you won't get run over anyway, and perks have little to do with that.

@legion_main Yes. They're completely arbitrary. Reduce all three offerings into one.

@T0xicTyler exactly I don't see the reason to even upgrade any other survivor unless if its for their teachables

I haven't used We're Gonna Live Forever ever since I finished my second P3 survivor with all perks unlocked. I enjoy the game these days but I still grind BP to prestige my other survivors.

Then that's it's sad. If the grind and not actually the game (and it's fun) keeps you playing you should play something else instead of wasting your time collecting meaningless things in a video game.

    You misunderstand.
