Why isn't disconnecting more punished?
Temporarily ban people who dc
1st dc = 10 minute ban
2nd dc = 30 minute ban
3rd dc = 1 hour ban
4th dc = 24 hour ban
Etc...
So simple and effective

Disconnection handling - Our plan, our actions
Player disconnection is a rampant issue in Dead by Daylight and causes regular frustrations to players. Migrating to Dedicated Servers will give us the opportunity to manage disconnections better. The design for disconnection handling is currently being worked on and we are aiming to launch this feature at the release of dedicated servers. We will share more information on the design itself over the summer.
Until we migrate on dedicated servers, we are left with the way we have been handling disconnections for over a year; by punishing players that are disconnecting more than a definite threshold (% of the games played). In the last few months, the game has been in a state where we had to be more permissive with that threshold because too many players were experiencing crashes and loading issues and we didn’t want to punish players for issues caused by the game. In the last update, we have fixed most of these issues and our threshold is now back to the initial number.

In the current state of the game, it will randomly kick survivors from the trial. If you see a survivor DC without any audio indication, that is the game booting the survivor and its happening a lot.
To punish players for what the game is doing could backfire on the devs.

@Mr_K That is one of the reasons they are waiting on servers. Fix the DC issue without harming players that are having other issues.

I member hearing somewhere that they'll be able to discern between rage quits and people getting dropped here soon enough.

Determining disconnects
With dedicated servers, all players are connected to one server. If one player loses connection, everyone else will remain connected. This information will help us better identify and punish players who intentionally disconnect going forward.
@JESUS_CHRIST this is what they said abuot telling the difference.
