How the hell do I escape when I am solo in endgame
The killer has closed the hatch and endgame has started. The only possible way of escaping is via exit gate. The killer can just patrol these gates and you have no chance of getting them open before the endgame timer ends. Bad game design.

Just be stealthy

Currently, there are also cases where exit gates spawn with such a big distance to each other that the killer has no chance patroling.
We need a min/max distance for exit gates, so that both killer and survivor have a fair chance.

Don't get to the point where you've already lost?
7 -
That would be an option if the timer was longer. It takes about 15 seconds for the killer to travel between the gates. You can only make minimal progress to the gate and then you have to hide again.

I don't mind the End Game, it's the Exit Gates that weren't fixed that causes the rage. If they were spread enough to give a chance for survivors, people wouldn't be complaining so much.
As a killer, they sometimes spawn way too close that I can just turn around and check each progress.

Bad argument. Just because I can't avoid the endgame every game, doesn't mean escaping it should be impossible. That'd be bad game balance.
3 -
Probably 9 times out of 10 you won't be able to. You're supposed to be able to have a chance at that point, but not a good one.
Though the exit gates obviously need a min/max distance and should be out of the line of sight of one another.

You basically don't. If you don't know where the hatch was you can wait by an exit and hope they don't check it first after they close the hatch. You could also just open the gate for 4 seconds, before the first light comes on, hide, wait for them to check, and then try to finish the open, but it's down to luck if the gates are close together or if you can find the hatch first. If you know where the hatch is before egc beings, chances are the killer does too. I think if you stand directly on the hatch, the killer cannot close it, like when they stand on the hatch you cannot use it to exit.

Would you rather be trapped hiding for 30 mins OR die with ZERO chance to escape?
Endgame prevents that. You have a slim chance, if you have failed your objective thus far, to escape. It's not a GOOD chance, but it is far better that the alternatives, and rather generous if work isnt done.

You got four options.
1.) Remove one of your survivor perks and swap for WakeUp. Or Bring the pebble and try to distract the killer with it and try to open the exit gate you want to open as soon you can.
2.) take a chance find a chest, and pray to god that rn-jesus is on your side with the purple key and find the hatch.
3.) Wait for the killer to leave and start hunting you down, try and open the gate. Unless of course the gates are pretty close to one another in which case your screwed.
4.) Curl up in a corner and wait for the timer to end to watch a pretty cool animation.

If the killer closes the hatch you're dead unless it's a slow killer AND the gates have a huge distance between them. You can play stealthy all day it makes no difference because you have a few minutes to open the gate and the killer will run up and down till he finds you holding the lever.

Apparently there was a minority of people who would wait 30+ minutes, now everyone gets to suffer because of it.

It also prevents the 45 min hatch standoffs people would refuse to end. Doubly beneficial.
Personally, I love the tense decisions that have to be made quickly during the EGC.

Don't get me wrong, I love EGC but the only time I find it really unfair is for a solo survivor.

Escape!.... Why do you want to escape? The Entity needs to eat you know...

Wake Up! Is a thing you know

What's the time with level 3 wake up?

Tier 3 you open exit 15% faster so shaves off about 3 seconds. The aura read is arguably more valuable than that. Gets to be slightly more valuable if killer uses remember me.
In my opinion if the killer has not found you near a gate, open the gate for 3-4 seconds before the first light comes on, hide, wait for killer to check your door then finish it. You just saved yourself a perk slot for something more useful.

For the past 2 and a half years, hatches were unfairly biased toward survivors.
Now it's the other way around - but the survivors were thrown a couple additional chances they didn't previously have.
One of which is that the hatch now spawns and opens even if the team didn't get a single generator done.
The other? The doors now power without all the generators done as well.
Feels like a fair trade to me - especially given the sheer number of second-chance perks the survivors already have.
That being said, the cases where the doors are too close together does need to be looked at.

Bad game balance would be making it easy for the last survivor to escape after the killer has done a good job of finishing off the other 3 survivors before the generators are finished which is difficult as all hell at higher ranks without a rage quit. It's SUPPOSED to be difficult for you to escape as the last survivor. The killer is supposed to have the advantage in this situation.
Most survivors are completely ignoring what the intended gameplay for this situation was: A race to the hatch. Now survivors race to the gates instead and hide. I still manage to hatch escape as the last survivor every now and then. Definitely more so than I manage to gate escape as last survivor after a closed hatch.

there are a few options, they are rng based
if the gates spawn on top of each other you lose, if the gates spawn on the opposite side of the map you auto escape unless you are a potato
so if you get an in between spawn you pull on the lever to about 20% since those lights turn on at what seems every 25%, you then wait till the killer comes and checks on your door and as soon they leave you commit fully to opening the door not letting go unless they are about to hit you

You've already had two chances to escape. Why can't the third attempt be difficult?
3 -
That phrases it more perfectly than I could have.

yea as a killer main I hate end game. If the gates were always directly across from each other, like in The Game, it would be balanced. But i'll get games where I don't even have too move and I can see both gates. Plus once your found, your dead, because they don't have too kill you too win, just linger around you until 2 minutes end.

So, I'm giving away the best option that a survivor has, but i'll tell it to you, even though killers dominate the forums,....
When you know the other survivor is about to die on hook, DO NOT LOOK FOR HATCH! your best chance is to stand by a door, wait 5 seconds and the killer will close the hatch, then start opening the gate, and PRAY that he checks the other one first, you've got a 50% chance. That is a general rule of thumb recommendation. It is possible to find the hatch first, but not probable, you can save yourself some time by standing by the door exactly when hatch is closed, that gives you a chance to get it started before the killer gets there. Another tip, start the door, but release before it lights the first light, then hide, when the killer leaves your door, then go finish it.
These tips are your best chance, UNLESS, you're against a hillbilly, or nurse, or a hag that already trapped the door, or a trapper that already trapped the doors, or if, the most common issue, the doors spawn SO close together the killer can basically watch them both at once, in any of these situations, you're just dead. Get used to playing DBD-favoring killers is our motto!

If doors spawn on same side of map, and only one survivor is left, you could open both doors at once, that would make the game interesting, the killer would see the lights on both at the same progression and would give a stealthy survivor a slim chance to escape, instead of NO chance.

Don't worry, everyone has known about that strategy since egc first came out.

spend one of ur precious perk slots with the pebble and use it x times

Have a key
I always carry a key now

Ultimately, you lost between the who finds the hatch first. It's completely fair game and survivors are even given a second chance to survive if the killer finds the hatch. It is very difficult, but don't expect it to be a free win. Door spawn locations need a fix though
1 -
Not sure that would help or be possible. If the Killer has the power to reach both gates in the time it takes to open one (to give the Killer a chance)... they already won it. All they have to do is catch the Survivor at either gate once to either down them or chase them long enough the Entity does the job for them.

Current meta has to be to either have a key and wait till killer closes the hatch so u can run and search for it cuz the killer is most likely patrolling both gates.
Or, u don't have a key and just chill around one exit gate till killer closes the hatch and immediately start to open it. If lucky, killer checks the other gate first and u have enough time. If unlucky, he finds u immediately or is just simply a high mobility killer.
One thing which everyone is agreeing on is that the gates are spawning to close to each other. That's one needed fix and hopefully this will make EGC much more tactical and fair from a survivors perspective. Be patient, probably we will get it in the midchapter patch after ghostface.

Well, sometimes the killer has to bait it if you have a feeling where he could be.

See if the odds are in your favor.

Tbf, sometimes ur team mates are so bad that u don't have control about turning it into a win.
It happened to myself several times, my potatoe mates died like chickens, killer found hatch immediately and both exits are so close to each other that the killer has just to stand in the middle without moving.
It's really frustating as solo when u are the MVP, do gens and outplay the killer and loop him for several minutes without getting catched just to die cuz of ######### mates. It feels undeserved to die cuz no matter how perfectly I would play the match, the result would be the same. Really frustating, u know what I'm saying?
Hopefully the exit gate change will fix this issue.

This isn’t true, survivors can find it first but killer closing it takes priority over the interaction when it opens even if the survivor gets the prompt at the same time. It’s often better to use the gate strategy, hatch is a lost cause at that point in the match (last survivor), you’ll never win it unless you magically find it and the killer hasn’t looked for it first (more rare than a unicorn btw) the gates are the fair part if the spawns are decent. Because there’s no certainty in who wins it. Unless the killer has whispers. They sometimes won’t even bother with the hatch if they have that (learned this the hard way against a fast rev hillbilly)
Also I don’t believe it should be a you sucked you deserve death scenario (in response to entitydispleased above, not what I quoted here) it should be 50/50 counting the hatch as an option is dumb most killers are on that instantly so why that’s considered an option I’ll never know (unless you have a key) saying you deserve to lose because your team were potatoes isn’t great. Gates should be fair game, but apparently some people can’t handle a fair, intense endgame with the last survivor (who may be the best in their team, it’s not always the immersed do nothing teammates) and if they’re that desperate for the 4K and don’t like the gates distance for their chosen killer slugging for 4K still works... I like endgame as a killer and a survivor, I just think it shouldn’t be in favour of one side over the other, a true 50/50. Most survivors who escape me end game are usually last hook anyway and I get hatch close points. I don’t agree it’s the survivors have failed and killers deserve unopposed 4K because the other 3 teammates sucked.

Doors, play smart and its very easy unless they spawned next to each other or its trapper.
If you are alone that means you were not helpful during the game that much (in most cases, i'm not saying always) thus deserving to get rekt. Game still is and propably will always be unbalanced in favour of survivors.
Sad but true, 3 exceptionally bad survivors, very good killer and you beeing only pro in trial is very rare case.
Edit: "Killers dominate the forum" l m a o. It is actually the best possible designed end game. No stand offs, no holding game hostage, both sides have equal chances.
