The "Gen Rush" issue....
So in these forums, ive seen killer complain about survivor's "Gen rushing" and i have to ask......Are you complaining to the DEVS about the time it takes to do a gen is too fast? Or are you calling the survivors toxic for focusing on gens? I can see the first being a semi decent complaint, but the latter confuses me. Aside from Totems, the survivors have nothing else to do other than the generators and it seems like they are getting ######### for doing their objective. Am i wrong here?

The devs, we want survivors to have another objective.

To me, the issue is map size and map pressure (or lack thereof) often determining outcomes. Yes, generators get done too fast, but that's a symptom of maps and killer imbalance to me. I actually think the length of the trial is fine, it's just that the experience with, say, Hag will be wildly different than Leatherface's assuming all else is equal.

While I think at times the hostility gets directed at survivors, most realize it's a game design issue. My theory is gens will remain untouched until the first couple of map reworks come out. They plan to rework the safe loops which should lessen chases. Which in turn should alleviate some of the pressure. Whether they stop there or do more is anybody's guess.

Obviously complaining to the devs. The Survivors are 100% correct to be doing gens and it would be silly to claim otherwise.

The devs.
Math + DbD = pure horror
4 -
Survivors have nothing BUT the gens to do. So while it's annoying, gen rush is understandable.

My hope for the future is that there is a second objective that makes the game longer, and lessen the time of generators. Playing survivor is boring unless you’re being chased, IMO. Something to make survivors move around more and give potential to be seen by the killer, it would be super tense and fun

If gen rush is the initial point of a post, it's usually a plea to the devs to do something about it. However, it's also often regularly used as a counter point when survivors call killer gameplay easy and at that point is directed at survivors.
1 -
It's definitely not the second one. It's just by design the game can get very, very stressful for killers.
However, let's hope that the rework to the game's maps, getting more mindgameable loops, will lessen this complaint by quite a bit.
2 -
They're not going to do a darn thing, its been this way for 3 years now. Not gonna change anytime soon.
1 -
It will probably get better with the map reworks, since you'll have better chances at downing survivors fast enough with more mindgameable loops.

So in these forums I've seen survivors complaining about "tunneling and camping killers". So I have to ask, are you complaining to the devs about the whole mechanic or about toxic killers doing their only objective? Killers don't have totems to cleanse or chests to loot. They only have 1 objective, which is to kill the survivors. There is literally nothing else to do for killers, but they are getting ######### on for doing this. Am I wrong here?
10 -
@Tsulan to be fair, nobody is forced to loot chest or cleanse totems. Although I don’t get the complaints about tunneling and camping.
Survivors objective is to do the gens and escape. (Honestly though, even if you cleanse every totem and loot every chest that really isn’t much wasted time)

The first one. If a killer cannot put enough pressure on the survivors in the very early game (which most killers cannot) then survivors are left to their own accord and will push through the generators since they're not doing anything else.
Something needs to happen to slow the game down but increasing generator repair time by 2x isn't exactly the answer. Something new is needed.
2 -
Add second objective will make games longer, so more difficult for survs and easier for killers. So, if devs don't want to change percentages of escapes, can't add new objectives.

The problrm more or less is the time difference beetween how long it takes for survivors to do generators and killers getting a sacrifice.
0 -
The biggest problem IMO. Is you have some people that are really good with killers and some really bad. Same goes for survivors. Just like you have killers that will tunnel one person till their dead when they really should be going after other survivors and hooking them not tunneling the same one till he dies. Or face camping with your chain saw revved so if someone comes to get you he downs you both. Then you also have the survivors that loop and loop the killer forever. Which is a map flaw versus the camping and tunneling is a killers choice. Yes you can play this way but it's very cheap and I have no respect for you or your rank if you get it this way. There will always be two sides to a coin no matter what the dev's do or not. There will always be the complaints. The best they can do is fix the complaints that are from the majority of the dbd players. Without the majority you dont have a game and creating it was pointless for the dev's.

The got totems and chest but this isno need to win do this so...
0 -
The devs obviously.
It's not the Survivor's fault that just doing what you need to do can be done with 4 minutes.
4 -
They nerfed coop gen rush but buffed Prove Thyself...
Really, Devs...really...

Killers are complaining because gens are done too fast. Increasing gen repair time would not be exciting, therefore we need a 2nd objective.
4 -
It is what it is, keep map pressure killers. If you locate 2, don’t be afraid to slug and go after the other, now a 3rd has to pick up, sure he’ll get him up...but that’s 3 people not on a gen.
2 -
I don't care about gen rush, that's what NOED is for, to make them pay
0 -
They never nerfed "coop gen rush". The red bar that you probably think of merely indicates the lowered repair percentage of survivors if they are working on a generator together which has always been the case but wasn't displayed before.
3 -
Make them pay for just doing their objectives? Doesn't make sense at all. That's why NOED shouldn't even exist, it's still just a crutch for lazy and bad killers and I never use it.
2 -
Survivor main eh? If you believe NOED shouldn’t exist for a killer, that also means you think Deadhard and MoM should also not exist right? Didn’t think so, your logic is biased.

"Or are you calling the survivors toxic for focusing on gens? I can see the first being a semi decent complaint, but the latter confuses me." when I read that, I knew this was a big troll bait.
1 -
We want another objective! The survivors arent at fault for simply doing their objective. Right now, besides totems and chests, gens are the only thing survivors have to do to work towards their escape, and since we don't want increased gen time cause that'd be horrendously boring, a second objective is the best option
2 -
"... and I never use it"
No, you are clearly the biased one here because you think ima survivor "main", LUL. I bet I played more killer already than you can ever play in your lifetime.

@megdonalds For not having cleansed totems, if they did and complete all generators anyway all that is left is to take the loss... maybe take just one of them with me ;-)

There is no genrush. Its a killer legend.

Noone with a functional brain blames the survivors. They are just playing. The devs are to blame.
2 -
I will never understand people complaining about "gen rushing". It's survivors job, isn't it? BUT sometimes I understand when only doing gens can be annoying, for example someone is hooked and nobody is helping that person because they are only focused on gens. I hate getting struggle on 1st hook and sometimes that happens because people only do gens...so situation like this is annoying BUT when the killer is looping with a good looper for the most of time, then he shouldn't be crying later about gen rushing, right? If you can't catch someone, then go for someone else! It's simple, right? That's how you're gonna avoid gen rush.

+1
Yeah they need a secondary objective for sure, but I hope it's something that doesn't involve hold M1. It should be interactive.
3 -
pretty much. map setups currently allow really bad survivors to run you for entirely too long
1 -
@NMCKE If the 2nd objective were just holding M1, it would be as un-exciting as increasing gen-time. I don't think this will happen.

I guess, no one wanna blame a survivor for PTFO. There´s literally nothing else to do. Making the repairs longer is also something, no one with a working brain should suggest. The M1 - simulator is already annoying as hell.
Maybe some kind of toolboxes, survivors need to find before being able to repair a gen, or whatever. But in my opinion, it´s quite hard to balance this, would be a kick in the butt for lower ranks, where killers are quite strong, cause survivors dont loop and route optimally. So, maybe a second objective scales with the ranks, eg u need one tool for green ranks, two for purple and so on.

Well IMO, I think they should do 3 Objectives.
WAIT before you tag me and yell at me, saying that is too much...
Here's the 3 Objectives:
-Do Generators
-???????
-Open Exit Gates
Also what do you propose to be the 3rd Objective anyway..? Fill a Car with Gasoline..?
I just can't figure out what to replace the ?'s with.
Please tell me what it should be =P

@MarksmanSpecal Several forum users (including me) have made suggestions for 2nd objectives. If you are interested in taking a look, you should find the threads via the search or I can send you a link.
If we get a better ranking system, then we could also adjust the 2nd objective or gen-repair-time to ranks. That's not the hard part. The hard part is getting a good ranking system.

Well let's pray that the first patch with map reworks will already make quite the difference.
I just hope these reworks will finally make the M1 killers finally viable at high rank.

You're spot on there. And to assert that point, the top Killers are Nurse, Billy, and Spirit.
You know, the three with the best mobility.
