Mettle Of Man Protection Hits.
So the new Mettle of Man requirement reads as follows:
"After you earn 3 Protection Hit scoring events, the perk activates."
Yesterday, I tried to help someone who was being tunneled massively at The Coal Tower, and I thought you know what let me take a hit for this guy and see if I can get a stack. So he goes through a window, and me being nearby I literally crouch infront of the killer (preventing him from vaulting the window) to force him to hit me while breaking the chase, so he does, but surprisingly it never counted it as a protection hit.
Is this a bug or am I missing something about protection hits?
It's already more difficult as it is to take hits, but for only specific instances to count makes this perk practically worthless if so.

Protection Hits are finicky at best. They don't count when they should most of the time, not really a bug just really weird score event.
Your better of running a different perk. Or just run BT+MoM if you wanna be a supportive teammate.

The protection event is highly restrictive. Like the other poster said, you're better off just not running it.
I haven't had anyone activate MoM on me even once as killer since the update.

@GenSim12345 Honestly, I only had it because I wanted to test it out through different scenarios... and yeah there are legit protection hits that are definitely not counted (for whatever reason).
I feel that if they are going to change the requirement for how it procs they also need to look at what counts as a protection hit. The game should be able to make out the difference of when someone is being chased and when someone just took a hit to break that chase.

It was known this would be an issue so they decided to render MoM bascially unuseable aboutside of organised 4-man SWFs, since they tend to get themselves into situations where protection hits almost always proc, rather than times where they should, and don't.
I vouche for removing protection hits and making it entirely safe hooks, limiting it to a max of 2 per game actually being used and potentially wasting survivor time fighting for that safe unhook stack between one another.
It should not have been made to protection hits when the devs themselves were very clear that they KNEW the coding for it had issues beforehand.
@GenSim12345 that is exactly what a bug is!

@Sairek Honestly, I think protection hits being the requirement I can get behind. What I don't understand is why/how some actions that would be deemed as protection hits don't count. Seems like a half way baked idea.

They knew it would be finnicky; that's why they decided to make it just the same as WGLF; it's not often you'll get more than two stacks of that if you're playing efficently, after all - and two is being generous.
But that's where they went wrong; of course if it was manageable and survivors could get it off AT ALL and it was seen to happen, it would be complained about - it needed to have the number of people who could activate it reduced, which I said all along, long before it was nerfed on the second round of the PTB.

I'm pretty sure that you have to take the hit while the killer is actively chasing someone else, if they switch targets to you (which happens if they see you and LoS is broken on the original survivor) then it doesn't count.

They should just make it 3 Safe Unhooks instead :/ it would still be decently hard to get but atleast it will come into play and be beneficial unlike taking a protection hit.

I was of the impression that it procs off safe unhooks.
Getting protection hits during chase is a lost cause. It's just not reliable.
The best way to get protection hits is to block the killer while he's carrying a survivor, and to get safe unhooks.

They effectively destroyed the perk. But they left it OP long enough to maximize sales.

Protection hits are just buggy as hell, sometimes they will just not work. At all.
Like to the point where sometimes even when the killer is carrying someone, and you tank a hit, it will not give you the 'protection' score event and won't count.

I've noticed only Protection hits that give 200 BP count, but ones that give 100 don't. It has something too do with how close the killer is too the survivor being chased, hence why you get a token when getting hit when a survivor is on the killers shoulder. It's really weird and it makes no sense.

Hey, it'll still a plague with 4-man SWF teams, (the supposed bane of every killer, understandably) though, so it's all good, right?!

the fact that they didn't examine protection hits when they changed the perk was short-sighted. we already knew they didn't work properly when half the time they don't give you WGLF stacks
