Freddy rework seems like a nerf.
Freddy currently has the best stall power and he has the highest skill cap around. This rework is nerfing his stall power.

He doesn't have the highest skill cap around but stall power I kind of agree his skill cap is still pretty high than most and can compete at red ranks if the player playing him has mastered him he is not as bad as people say.
17 -
Highest skill cap is overdoing it but yeah he is honestly really good rn.

I think losing the aura reading will be a big hit to his strength. Just having knowledge of 2+ survivors is very powerful.
But being able to actually hit a survivor as soon as you encounter them is great. And if they go through with his generator teleport, he might actually be good.
12 -
Being able to constantly sleep people is what made him good though.
4 -
I just wanted some QoL changes. Shorter transition, ability to interact with survivors that hold m1, no cooldown between 2 transitions and addons that change the requirements to wake up (hit a skill check, hit a great skill) although the last one might be a little to strong. Maybe test first...
11 -
I think it depends on the cooldown of his power and the speed of the wind up. Threatening to appear from gens is horrifying enough for stall. It's way too early to tell.
From what I saw, I wouldn't oppose keeping some action speed debuff to being asleep though, assuming they're considering to take it away.

I think Sleeping Survivors shouldn't be able to see Freddy teleporting to a generator in my opinion. Make survivors actually fear the Dream Realm. :)
19 -
freddy has the highest skill cap? i want whatever you're smoking

I'm so gonna miss old Freddy. Yes he needed some numbers tweaking but removing him and replacing him with something that isn't the Freddy we know is extreme.
Let us have BOTH Freddies - One can be Robert Englund and one can be that other guy.
11 -
Of course it us a nerf. He is too powerful at low ranks (as any killer).
0 -
He's not even out yet, it's way too soon to act like he's being nerfed.
5 -
Honestly I'm very worried about the rework
The timer to become asleep could be exploited by survivors, they can just count how long it takes for them to fall asleep and go to the "waking table" or whatever it is and nullify his power
He's going to be another killer whose power depends on survivors
Even the teleport isn't that strong, survivors will notice and start running away reaching the nearest loop
7 -
We've been through this already. That excuse does not work anymore.
8 -
My thoughts as well. I'm dreading the rework and losing my main.
I suggested a new concept for him because of this, giving us players the choice of playing him with his old power or with his new power: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/72554/two-powers-freddy
That way everyone would be happy.
2 -
Excuse? You're calling something a nerf without any details. We don't know numbers, we don't yet know how his power is going to work exactly, the devs said themselves they're not even fully sure what they want to go through with for him. Not every change is the end of the goddamn world, have some patience and wait til he comes out before crying about a nerf.
5 -
Sincerely speaking, he loses some good things, such as the first blow when the survivor sleeps, the reading of auras in the world of nightmares, and the 50% reduction in actions, I think it is the best thing that the current one has FREDDY.
5 -
"Freddy rework seems like a nerf before we even know all the details of the rework", episode 259 of "Why the devs don't listen to us".
6 -
I'm excited about gen teleport. Take that Billy!
4 -
stall power? it maybe some what for aura reading. what the hell can he stall currently? as it is survivors can unhook right under your nose with no penalty and you cannot stop them except put them to sleep. freddys power isnt viable he is addon reliant as it stands .... i dont expect him to be much better but who knows. but as long as you can hit or grab and stop survivors actually unhooking with no risk or fear will be a plus. but i dont have much faith or hope so time will tell
1 -
The entire thing is going to depend on how often it takes survivor to fall asleep.
3 -
What I would like is a few ptb's for feedback on the changes rather than the normal one and done release we have now.
I think a major change like this could do with more testing over a larger userbase and give the time for feedback to be more considered.
2 -
I think this is part of the reason why the Freddy rework has taken so long. It must be very difficult on their end to rework a character that will (hopefully) be more fun while keeping the core essence of the character intact and not alienating those that enjoy current Freddy. I think it would be really cool if they could let players switch between the old and new powers, but I don't foresee that happening. I would say give the upcoming rework a chance, though. What they are proposing, dream pallets, dream snares, and generator teleportation, all sounds amazing. It will give him tools to help in a chase along with map pressure. To me, that sounds way more fun. But we'll have to see once the PTB is live.
4 -
It's called Salvia, bet you won't hit it though.
1 -
Make it so we can have an addon that allows to play as the old Freddy too. I hope that new Freddy can somehow keep the action speed reduction and aura readings in order to keep map pressure combining with the pallet traps, snares, and teleporting. Devs said the action speed reduction and aura readings will most likely be addons...
1 -
Being able to interact with survivors at any given time is a big buff to him.
2 -
What do you think of my version of the rework? The secondary ability is a bit far out i admit, feel free to ignore it.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/41733/another-freddy-rework-idea#latest
1 -
Same here, that's all I wanted too. And make it so survivors can't interact with anything while falling asleep, expect of course with pallets and windows
0 -
Freddy that places traps?
Lmao
1 -
Because they mistake survivor-mains for killer-mains? No killer-main would say that Freddy has 'a high skill-cap'.
I wish the devs would notice the very clear difference between people who think and talk like survivors and those who are killers.
4 -
I play both sides and mained Freddy for awhile, it took me longer to learn him than spirit and nurse.
0 -
Like DocOctober said just let us choose between them because he is pretty fun and decent if you actually know how to play him and this will prolly be a nerf especially depending on how his traps work.
1 -
"I play both sides" is a survivor-meme.
Most people play both sides, but most people also have a preference for a certain role which they play more than the other; killers do not ever have to mention this. Only survivors are obsessed with ideas about status, so they make a point of talking about it all the time.
3 -
I’m purple rank on both sides, “survivor meme”? Playing both sides Isn’t a meme, please stop spewing this “survivor meme” nonsense.
3 -
This is ignorance at it's finest
4 -
@JawsIsTheNextKiller The old one would have to be "that other guy" because this reworked Freddy SCREAMS original Freddy Krueger, not that poor imitation they made in the remake. Generators spewing blood, pallets exploding into blood, etc. This is the real Freddy Krueger. I would kill for original Freddy's looks too.
1 -
Agreed, I'm gonna miss my Fred boi :,(
I just wanted some QoL changes, not what he's getting now 😭
3 -
Off of one gen
Honestly I just don't see new Freddy be anything but bad, I'm very worried
5 -
It's pretty crazy to me that people endlessly whined about Freddy being awful and were crying for a rework. He's literally a meme character. Now his change is coming and suddenly Freddy is actually very good and they're nerfing him.
Teleporting across the entire map in 5 seconds is a nerf lol
5 -
@brokedownpalace I’ve thought he was good for awhile, a lot of us just wanted tweaks.
1 -
Yeah, this rework honestly feels like it's going to be a buff for the people that want to play every killer exactly the same way and a nerf to people who actually like variety and nuance in their killers, like current Freddy mains.
2 -
Freddy sounds like he's being nerfed with powers that do nothing but slow him down. If he has to set traps, that's a nerf because when is he going to have time to set up pallets and traps on top of everything else a killer already has to deal with? Why do I need to have exploding pallets that do nothing but blow up? Doc can set pallets just by ability alone. Dream snares sound like Sprint Burst will negate that so you just wasted some more seconds setting traps while gens are a'poppin'. IMO if those two "abilities" get dropped he'll be more interesting to play.

There's a lot of concerns I have as well that were never answered. I have a whole list of them actually...
Can Freddy even teleport through walls? Why is there a range requirement to teleport based on the anniversary footage? Wouldn't I get to a gen quicker by just walking then? How long is the cool down?
What add-on is going to be Snares? Black Box? Class Photo? Is there a range requirement in where I can place them (pallets and snares) or can I only place a certain number of them? Both? How big is the hitbox of the Snare? How slow are survivors enveloped in a Snare?
Why can Self Care still remove his entire Chase potential? Will Freddy get destroyed from gen rushing due to the sleep cycle? Why wouldn't survivors be doing generators anyway? Are skill checks the same? Do survivors on hooks or downed get put to sleep?
Honestly there's too many uncertainties for me and I think he'll be a killer who got rid of his strong gimmick that stalls the game in favor of chase potential that is in hands of the survivors.
1 -
maybe wait until he's on the ptb lol
3 -
No, have him changed 600 times before release.
"I think he should be a fully visible killer"
0 -
@miaasma but why would people do that when they can just complain about something that not only isn't even up for testing yet but also is objectively a net buff because map pressure is literally the most important thing in this game?
It's kinda important to wait before making judgements but it's waaaay more important to ensure that the devs have every reason not to listen to us :^)
1 -
I honestly want Freddy's power to have both Trap Pallets and Dream Snares because there isn't much of a downside to being asleep. Sure, your TR is replaced by a Lullaby and you're affected by his Traps, but that's it. Having more Dream Traps affecting you will ensure that survivors waste time to wake up.
Also, Skill Checks shouldn't wake you up if we're going to have an object in the map that automatically wakes you up. The reasoning behind it is because Freddy's chase potential is thrown down the drain if survivors are always awake AKA he needs sleeping survivors to have a strong chase potential. It doesn't matter if Freddy has 100 different Dream Traps because if they aren't asleep, it doesn't matter since awake survivors aren't affected by Dream Traps.

Let's see BHVR's track record of killers. Clown, easily gen-rushed, his power doesn't help at all with chases, since it slows him down. Spirit, shes perfect, probably the best killer BHVR has done in a while. Legion, terrible killer that has a power that applies Borrowed Time. Plague, the easiest killer to bully, the first half of her power is horrible and there's no downside for being sick, the second half of her power is powerful, but is completely in control of survivors. And there's Ghost Face, a killer whose power is strong but can be neutered by survivors.
Conclusion, Freddy is f*cked.
2 -
Can we have a thread without someone making this an "us vs them" thing?
Its getting annoying,tbh.
3 -
I disagree on Clown. He definetly needs some QOL changes, but he is not that bad.
I also disagree with GhostFace, his "reveal" mechanic barely comes into play when I play him. He is actually a pretty good killer,Imo.
