So how do you play DBD?
Just curious how the average forum-goer plays DBD. I don't mean which side or whatnot, just a general play style.
Me, I just play for fun. I don't main any single game, and play whatever game strikes my mood that night. Might be DBD, or F13, or Overwatch, or whatever. And sometimes I can go weeks, or a month or more, without playing a particular title.
When I play DBD, I'm just looking to have a little fun running around as the horror Icons I grew-up watching in the 80s (I was born in '72), such as Myers, Freddy, and Leatherface. I don't stress if survivors escape, just give me some BP. I don't care about emblems or rank. I know I should be raking in the BP to unlock a ton of teachables, but even that doesn't inspire me. I'll get them eventually, or I won't. I doubt I'll ever have 1k or more hours in the game (hell, I've played Overwatch since launch in 2016 and only have around 800 hours clocked in that game), so I don't expect to compete with the large-play-hour people.
Basically, I treat DBD as a casual game where I can enjoy some slasher film fun. I might even start giving Survivor more of a go this month. I love Ash and might want to run around as him.

I kill survivors. I also pallet loop and unhook.

Making Devour Hope work.
That's it.

I started using it recently as Legion.
7/10 matches I killed at least 2 survs with it. ( in those other 3 matches ,the survs spawned right next to the totem so :))))))
Guess people dont expect DH anymore xD

For fun while trying to outplay my opponent(s). I also play Skyrim, Apex Legends and Minecraft.

@GrootDude For Apex, I'm curious: Do you have regular squad mates? I tried that game in the first month, but none of my people stuck around for it and soloQ there is even worse than in Overwatch for me.

@GrootDude What platform?

I play for my pvp fix. I don't get a ton of enjoyment out of survivor, but I have 2 dailies i'll try to complete tonight. One is work with another for 180 seconds i believe. I'm determined to just straight up follow ppl around tonight.
I'll put those bp into Myers im trying to build up. Only have nurses calling + m&a lv. 1 on him so far, and I'm longing for more. I also like to drink excessive amounts of ipa while i play for +1 bloodlust. Took friday off. Hopefully afternoon survivor crowd will play hungover.

I play for fun. It's the sole reason I main Doctor.
2 -
I play for fun and meme around :P
2 -
I like to play with my feet.

@Andreyu44 That's the great thing about it: The less people use it, the less people will expect it.
I main Wraith, and Spine Chill would destroy me BECAUSE i don't think they have it BECAUSE i never see it.

1 turn on PS4

The most basic one is to pay attention to survivor line of sight when uncloaking. The bell doesn’t warn them until partway through. You can also body block while uncloaking.

I completely agree, I've never been a hardcore gamer. I don't sit around playing 24/7, I only play when I have some free time, and happen to be in the mood to do so. I keep it very casual. I only play as horror ions the game has like Michael Myers, the whole reason I got the game in first place. Of course when I play, I try my best to play correctly by doing objectives and playing my role, but unlike many, I do not let it consume me, it's mostly just for fun to kill an hour or so. I also find it amusing how so many people who take the game way too seriously come to this forum to complain about something everyday, yet when you go into the actual game to play, their complaints ae nowhere to be found, 9 times out of 10.

@Kilmeran Try to uncloak from nearby objects if possible, especially tall objects.
They might hear you and see your shimmer, but you can land some solid hits with your movement speed after uncloaking.
If possible, deny their access to loops by aiming for the loop entrance instead for the Survivor.
Windstorm is his best Add-on series if you ask me, applying pressure is way better with even just "Windstorm" - Mud.
Don't take obvious routes when patrolling Generators, which are the "going straight for a Generator" routes.
Even if they know you're Wraith, they can't know from which side you come unless you give away your general direction by hooking someone, having your aura be revealed, etc.
Wraith's Add-on arsenal is versatile.
While i said Windstorm is his best to me, there's definitely more good Add-ons than bad ones.
For example, this isn't much, but Blink is nice to get back into your cloak and thus regain your movement speed.
While he has tools to prevent loops, he's probably one of the weakest Killers once he's in a loop.
The only tool he has for loops is the rattle noise he makes when starting to cloak.
It's the same noise he makes before he swings his main weapon, so they might think you want to hit them.
If they drop the Pallet early, it worked.
If they didn't, instead of actually swinging, missing and wasting time, you now keep your movement speed and probably get a free hit.
Hiding behind objects is also good to counter Flashlight users, which are your arch-nemesis of course.
Don't just approach them, they'll burn you good.
If you see them calmly walk away from you as you approach them and uncloak, warning: They absolutely have Sprint Burst.
They're saving it so they can use it once you're out of the cloak and thus deny you your big hit.
Just stop uncloaking once you're almost uncloaked, they'll start running.
Then just follow them, keeping your movement speed and uncloak once you're caught up.
"Faraway" Perks work really well on him, like Make Your Choice, Pop Goes The Weasel, Devour Hope, Barbecue & Chili, etc.
"Main Weapon" Perks as well, like Sloppy Butcher & Save The Best For Last.
That's all i can think of fo

That's all i can think of for now.*
Editing comments is close to impossible with how the website is currently.

Quick & stealthy, I play with all team oriented perks for better saves and healing.

When I play survivor... Lol me play survivor I just stay off the killers radar only make saves if I know we're the chopper is at. Ive had games were I do 3 to 4 gens all alone.
2 -
I play to chill mostly.
When I'm trying to pip as killer I just spam Hag/Huntress/Spirit, but I do admit I feel a lot more comfortable staying at purple ranks and memeing around with all killers.
As survivor I like trying goofy builds. Especially involving Head On (but my favorite is still the magic trick build with Lithe/Q&Q/Dance With Me). I rarely play solo and mostly play with my bf but we both just play for fun and mock/ocasionally sandbag each other.

Unless it's bubba I like me some facecamping

No problem.
I'm certain i'm forgetting some stuff, but you should be good for now. 😋
Also, i'm sure you know, but he's not the greatest.
He's definitely stronger now, but y'know.
Oh, here's an obvious tip: While he CAN make use of them, in general, "Terror Radius" Perks are just bad on him.

Good to see a lot of other chill players in DBD. Sometimes, these forums make it feel like the players all treat DBD like they're in the Overwatch League.
5 -
I feel like DBD is just an objectively more fun game for both sides at a mid to high level instead of a top level.
At least I have a lot more fun being able to play all killers or doing stuff other than holding M1 at gens as survivor.
High green to purple ranks are the most fun ranks to be imo.
4 -
@Boss That's fine. Given that I play a few different games, so don't main any single title, I doubt I will ever get past green ranks, anyway. Especially with the monthly resets.
Hell, right now I am back down to gray ranks on Killer because I haven't played in several months.

Post: makes a very long and detailed post about gameplay
Replies: "we slap people and hook them"
Later replies: long and detailed post about slapping people and hooking them with other details
Much later replies: probably more

In ps4 is what almost all killer use.
The toixc build.
DH,BaC,NoE,Ruin
So i always expect it

I play survivor gen jockey and when I'm suicidal I run interference and body block for the wounded. Just in it for fun and BP, don't really care about rank, and yes occasionally DC when I get pissed off. Oh, and I'm brutally honest as well.
3 -
Survivor? Hide and seek while trying to get points. Make sure everyone else gets out.
Killer? I act like a mini boss and just "entertain" them. I try, but I dont try hard or fret. I look at myself as an obstacle in their game. Like a dm playing an npc.

@Carpemortum About the same mentality I try to have when playing.
@TheShape78 Good to see a like mind! 😁

Here is my version of playstyle, as accurate as possible:
Survivor: I do solo most of the time, and I focus mostly on altruism, chases, then gens as priorities. I can kind of do chases, but depends on lick of finding pallets and predicting when to do 180s. Mains are:
Nea, I try stealth gen build here. (Spine Chill, Urban evasion, Balanced Landing, Kindred)
Meg, as a pure runner that focuses on all three main categories. (Sprint Burst, Adrenaline, Quick and Quie, Lightweight)
Claudette, stealth healer and rescuer (not a flashlight demon), (Premonition, Empathy, We'll Make It, Botany Knowledge)
Feng Min, also all rounder, (less altruistic)(Alert, Adrenaline, Lithe, Quick and Quiet)
and David, a mystery because all attempts playing him ended up with me being tunneled, try to do runner saver also. (Hope, Dead hard, We're Gonna Live Forever, Small Game)
I do my best all the time, so please don't call out my mistakes harshly.
Killer, I slug spare survivors, which gives both sides of us many points. I am still low rank because I rarely hook people. It is so weird to see mistakes gray ranks do when I play Wraith or Legion. I get aggravated when people tbag me for no reason. I hook all toxic survivors and people I grab off anything for being potatoes. I get aggravated by anyone who takes my Hex Thrill of the Hunt, I have no other hex perks :( I suck at loops, and can easily tell when I am playing with high ranks. I feel guilty if I somehow down all survivors or if there any suicides, bleeding, or Dcs, so auto Sparemode activates for me.
Wraith- Thrill, Shadowborn, Predator, Unrelenting or Sloppybutcher
Legion-Thrill, Discordance, Iron Maiden, Unrelenting)
I like to keep at least 2 original perks each character. Try to always be chill and useful both sides.
Thank for reading!

@Ember_Hunter Hey, it was a good read!

Thanks, sorry for typos, on laggy mobile right now xD

As survivor: Start slow, trying to identify the killer, once this is done I will focus on the gens. If a survivor gets hooked I will try my best to save them and use my "We'll make it!" to heal them as fast as possible. If the endgame comes and I am the one only on hook, leaving my team trying to rescue me, I will sacrifice myself for their sake.
As killer: I will walk to the farthest gens since survivors usually spams there, the rest is normal gaming, I try to avoid camping as much as I can. If it's least than 3 minutes of game and one of the survivor is already dead on hook, I will drop them at ground and let their team heal, since I want them to get the most bloodpoints as possible.

I spin a wheel and see what i style i play.
2 -
I chase survivors in loops and get hit with pallets. Then I smack em real hard and throw them on a hook. Then other rude survivors come alone and pull my prize off the hook and I have to start all over again.
But, sometimes, I play survivor, and I forget what I'm doing and I chase other survivors in loops. It does not work out so well.

@Warlock_2020 OMFG, that was hilarious.
@Elk I tried a wheel once. It kept coming up: Pleb. Yep, that's been my play style. 😀
