Killer Player name at Lobby
So why are killer names not listed in Lobby? I mean I get why the killer they select isn't but why are their names not? I ask because they can see all our names, but we cant see theirs. Also this would be a great way to curb toxic killer behavior, because if their names are displayed people can leave the lobby before the game starts. I have a list of Killers I know I would like to avoid. This would also prevent a lot of DC games and suicide games, not all but I think mos

The reasons you listed are the exact reasons it's not available. Long ago there was an exploit that some people were able to use to find out the Killer in the lobby, but it's been impossible for a long time. The only possible use for that info is to dodge, which doesn't need to be encouraged.

So the goal is to conceal toxic killers so they don't get punished for their own toxic behavior? Seems to me that DbD has it's priorities mixed up. If said player is getting a lot of dodges then maybe said player needs to change the way they play to encourage survivors to play with them. Seems to me that the only people who have to fear this would be toxic players.

I agree. Killers can dodge certain survivors - I've gone into a full lobby where the killer and survivors are readied up and as soon as I load in, the killer dodges. It's usually always someone I've gone against before. They can avoid survivors who have been toxic or are just really good...why can't survivors do the same? I have a list of killers that I would love to avoid...and not because of being beaten, but because of relentless tunneling, camping, slugging, griefing, etc. Like Twinbros says, if killers are being repeatedly dodged , maybe they should assess their game play methods. So many killers brag about not caring about fair game play and boast about their camp/tunnel strategy, claiming they don't care about other people's experiences...so let them reap what they sow.

I get to tell a story!
So, currently we have a large play population that uses MLGA, a network traffic sniffer, to see who their matched against in terms of player. Now this program allows you to create lists of people's screen names so it can tell you when you're in that person's lobby. They say this is to just create whitelists of people with stable connections. Yet, in reality a lot of the time they were just making blacklists of killers they didn't want to play against for reasons that aren't even remotely proper. This resulted in lots of lobby dodges and increased queue times so the devs had to put MLGA on their blacklist in an attempt to curve usage.
The reason you don't get to see the name or the killer chosen is because people can't help but try to cherry pick their competition. You hook a survivor early in the game before they get a chance to start a gen? Blacklisted. Don't give the hatch? Blacklisted. Don't spend the game farming because of an early dc? Blacklisted. Played defensively against overly altruistic survivors while you were on hook?Blacklisted. Many more non toxic situations occur than actual toxic situations, but since people love to get in their feelings and be childish they do things that mess up key components like matchmaking. They have to be held in check.

Also I'm sorry but I very much doubt the amount of "misuse" outweighs the actual proper use. That aside I'm also sure it would solve a lot of DC and suicide games since when people recognize that "bad behavior" they are going to DC anyway. And it provides proper incentive for killers to not do things that are considrered toxic to the cummunity like camping.

I dont dodge toxic survivors, I block them to avoid being matched with them again survivors can do the same

Ironically that we would avoid toxic killers or laggy killers that conveniently only lag in-game and not in the lobby screen is exactly why they wouldn't allow it. Only killers are allowed to dodge people they don't like seeing. ;)

I don't believe blocking stops you from getting people in the same lobby as you. I've had people I've blocked in my games numerous times.
Probably more likely you're in a more densely populated area for players so you find those people less anyway.

Because as a survivor you should not know who you are up against. There are some ppl who play like 1-3 Killers exclusivly. Once you see his name you would know which killer you are facing.

There are some people that use the same perk combination everyh game. Once you see their name, you would know which perks you're going against.

Not knowing which killer i am facing is for me a nice experience (even you often find out in the first 30 seconds.)
When i play killer, it does not really make it more exciting to know the survivors perks for the beginning on.
I would not mind if the killer wont be able to see the survivor names in the lobby.😎

They removed it from their whitelist not because of how it was used, but because of how it could be used with respect to dodgy things like showing the IP address of the person whose lobby it is, not because people dodged lobbies.
At least that's how @Peanits reply to a thread read to me yesterday.

This needs to be done or just hide all player names. It needs to be fair.

Killers get to dodge lobbies based on what survivors are in them. Not only do they enjoy a latency advantage being host, they also get to cherry pick their games with absolutely no penalty. Survivors are held to a double standard and are left with the options DC or kill themselves on first hook taking de-pips along the way and lost offerings/items, once they learn they are versing the same toxic killer again.

Dedicated servers won't do anything about dodging lobbies, only disconnecting. Killer names aren't displayed because it would lead to further increased queue times as everyone stated. You can't tell someone how to play their games. If they want to play toxic, you bite the bullet and just move on to the next match.

@Twinbros I won't be surprised that eventually Killers won't see who the player names that in the lobby anymore once dedicated servers come out.
I won't be surprised that being able to look at profile will get removed. Once the servers get good with matching up people ping-wise... that spying should go out the window.

Ahm... I don't know, I don't mind a camper or a tunneler cause of my regular SWF team, we own them... All we care about is their ping... A hit that shouldn't have landed does get me triggered... I never DC btw, that's a douche's move against the survivor, not the killer... The only killer I have trouble against when they're campers is the cannibal

Meanwhile, survivors are heavily against the idea that the killer should know who's in a SWF and with who. Its almost like if they don't want killers to dodge them or something?

It could be a cool thing if it wasn't for the classic "Avoid Player" issue.
If you basically give people the ability to dodge players they don't like then of course genuine idiots like lagswitchers and the like get dodged, but you also get all sorts of "dodging a killer for beating them" situations. From reasons that at least to some extent can be argued about like blatant griefing-minded campers, to genuine "I'm looking to bully and this guy is too good for that" idiocy. Just look at all the MLGA discourse, everyone agrees that someone with a connection powered by a broken hamster wheel is something you don't want to go against, but then people block killers for simply selecting nurse or whatever.
And yes I think killers shouldn't be able to see names either, it only encourages meta grudges extending past a single game.

and if you are, why should anyone care if you get games?
MLGA is used very widely right now and good killers who win often still have no trouble getting games, so supposed survivor entitlement causing people to dodge killers who beat them en masse isn't really based on anything but hot air considering this function is effectively already present and doesn't cause any issues in queues

Better question is why survivor names aren't censored in the lobby beforehand. People say it's due to abuse, but you see the same abuse while playing as survivor. People will know what you bring (perk-wise) or they'll just straight up dodge you 'cause you were really good.

This is the reason why MLGA (Make Lobbies Great Again) was bannable. There was a feature that could let you block certain people so you don't have to face them. The devs don't want to encourage that behavior.

@AnthonyC2014 It's why it was taken off the whitelist, it was (and is) in no way inherently bannable. Not being on the whitelist just means that IF somehow you get banned for it you're on your own.
Not that I can imagine anyone would get banned for it in the first place. Doesn't interact with the game beyond slapping an overlay on your screen, and its actual functionality is just a specialized network monitoring application.

Either survivors should be able to see the killer's name in lobby or the killer shouldn't be able to see survivor names in lobby.

Blocking a player doesn't prevent you from being placed in a lobby with them, does it? I thought it just prevented communication.
