At leat 90% of the times when I have to face a leather face killer, is a camper.

What's the point of running BBQ & chilli if you just camp

    Their power enables them

All they have to do is keep M2 pressed after hooking someone and they have one kill guaranteed

It's less that the power enables leatherface to camp and more that the way the power functions makes it better for defensive play.

When LF charges his chainsaw he becomes severely slowed then when he releases he starts to slowly accelerate over time. He gets to moving just slightly faster than normal walk speed, but he has full control of his movement and can down multiple people. Unlike Billy, LF can't fake the charge on his chainsaw and gives up a lot of distance whether they try to fake or not. So the better strat is to get someone down and then hook them. Then you can play around your bait survivor with the chainsaw.

The counter is to just let the person hange and start popping gens as that is the only way to get a camping LF to consider moving.

Leatherface's greatest potential is the ability to 1 shot multiple survivors in one chainsaw frenzy. On paper that sounds like a broken mechanic, in practice its a very rare occurrence to not only find more than 1 survivor to chainsaw at a time, but also give said survivors very little room to run from him. 1 such scenario that almost always guarantees multiple survivors down is the insidious basement camping scenario, where-in 1 or more survivors come down to the basement to unhook an ally and LF was standing right there using insidious for 0 terror radius, with his chainsaw ready for the ensuing bloodbath.

Basically the reason most of them camp is because it allows them an easy opportunity to take full advantage of their powers maximum potential. Otherwise catching multiple survivors with his chainsaw is attack extremely rare, and often un-achievable even if the conditions are favorable (like a tight passage with 2 or more survivors running the same direction), since his slowdown while charging and weak acceleration only allow him to get 1 at most while the others scatter.

It's like Pig players who tunnel survivors trying to get the RBT off their heads, or body-block the jigsaw boxes. They have all that potential that rarely (if ever) actually does something, so instead of getting "blue balled" they are purposely creating the situations for their mechanics to be fully realized.

Take Insidious itself, the only way a perk that nullifies your TR while holding still is useful is if you are setting up an ambush, and the only ways you can setup ambushes are to either camp an objective and hope a survivor comes to it instead of the another one, or to camp a survivor on a hook because you know their team mates will try to rescue them. Other than that it has no use in overall game play.

Which begs the questions: Are they doing it because they are just toxic players? OR, is it because the mechanics designed by the devs encourage these toxic tactics in otherwise reasonable players?

Sounds to me that the killer should be changed to avoid this type of salty behavior.

    Because they like people?

For the same reason Wraiths are, they both have no friends so they have to face camp themselves in the mirror on the weekends.

I remember reading he’s next in line for a rework after Freddy, wish I remembered where though.

Because he is the worst killed in the game and camping is his only "viable" strategy.

    LF vs Billy

    -less mobility (biggest -)

-you cant do funny tricks with your saw

-you cant do snipes/use saw when surv is a bit further away than right on your face

+ you can hit multiple survs (which is only possible in camping situation)

sooo (except when someone likes his character) there is only 1 reason to play LF over Billy soo guess why most LFs are like that

Sadly, it's the only thing he's good at.

When your character is only better than others at 1-2 things, you'll wanna capitalize on those, or you'll just get looped like usual.

    A) He sucks at everything else.

    B) It's in-character, not that anyone roleplays.

Leatherface could be made to be the most powerful killer in the game and his big arse would still be to lazy move away from a hooked survivor lol

That's basically the extent of his power, next to one shotting.

    He can't travel like Billy
