The Clown - Does he's ability do well enough in a chase?

I want to spark a discussion about Clown, if he's in a good, meh, or bad tier.

What do you guys think?

He's good, but not quite great (a la Nurse, Spirit, Hillbilly). You'll have to work hard for a 2k, let alone more than that. You have to have very good fundamentals: Know when to abandon a chase, which generators to defend, and when to start creating a deadzone with no pallets.

He's map dependent. Like most killers, he's not going to shine on large maps.

He can ignore exhaustion perks with an addon, which makes him amazing and unique in that regard (Doctor's Very Rare Addon equivalent "Obedience" isn't nearly as good). My standard addon build for him is Flask of Bleach + Solvent Jug. It's very, very rare you'll ever see a match that doesn't have at least two survivors running an exhaustion perk. Basically, assuming they all use Adrenaline, sometimes means you only have to play against two survivor perks until endgame as Clown!

The best time to use his ability is when neither you or the survivor are moving and you are sizing each other up as to what the other is going to do next. Do this, plus whenever you have enough time, always zone off an escape route to prevent a survivor from choosing a more optimal route to run through.

TL;DR Clown is about 'deny, deny, deny' play style.

He is fairly useful when played correctly but obviously he isn't as good as killer's such as Nurse or Billy. He power is great for area denial and can make safe loops unsafe and unsafe loops a hit/down if he knows what he is doing. The bottles will slow survivors down and force them to throw pallets down early in a safe loop and in unsafe loops, when used with a mindgame, you will typically be able to hit the survivor through the pallet due to them being slower. When caught alone without pallets the tonic essentially gives you a free hit unless they have dead hard (which add-ons can fix). His map pressure is lacking, but if you can end loops fast enough then it shouldn't be too much of a problem as a perk like Pop Goes the Weasel or Ruin will take it from there.

In a chase he has decent options to force pallet drops quicker, or just get outright hits.

Clowno's problem is that he basically has nothing else whatsoever in his kit.

in a chase, his ability is great.

sadly, you dont get anything else out of it.

he is lacking map pressure and tracking ability.

    those make him "weak".. :(

Clown with BBQ, Nurses Calling, Sloppy Butcher, and Monitor and Abuse is a monster.

I enjoy playing him and the fact that he laughs after downing anyone.

Against rly good survivors he is not that useful

Against average survivors he is decent. You can end chases a bit faster.

DEVs should give him pinky finger as base kit imo. That would make him viable against most survivors.

His base power is weak but flask of bleach + ether combo are making him viable. otherwise he need a buff.
