How Harassment Bans should be.
Remove 24 hours and 48 hours.
24 Hours- Does nothing when in reality most people have different games to play.
48 Hours- Again Does nothing.
How you really send the message you are tired of toxicity and harassment in this game.

I've had multiple games tonight of people just calling me the f word and it hit me people in this game are not afraid of a 24 hour or a 48 at all can we just start actually trying to rid the game of players like this honestly.
Also yes i reported the 2 losers but hey they'll be back in 24 hours to do the same thing yet again to other players.
EDIT THE POINT IS how the bans in regards to this work no im not upset or offended im simply trying to bring awareness to how the system works i was giving an example of toxicity that i had encountered.

They wont remove "soft bans" they literally created them so they wouldnt have to actually ban people when they were confronted with thousands and thousands of survivors exploiting the asylum map exploits.
Its why I stopped reporting people, you take your time to record videos, fill out form for each offender then everyone I got banned, was unbanned by the weekend and they reversed all the bans to become "temp bans."
The entire temp ban system was created so they didnt have to ban anyone for real.

I thought they did change it to those times a while ago but not for long and reversed it back.
I don't think calling someone the F word is bannable and comes under the trash talk banner.

Yeah i dont let it bother me but when its happening multiple games it proves the flaw in the ban system its no longer sticks and stones its literally just pointing out how these players go under the radar and nothing is actually done to them.

Hate speech isn't the same as internet trash talk and while I dont condone being rude to others it's an ugly side of online gaming.
Definition - Hate speech is talk that attacks an individual or a specific group based on a protected attribute such as the target’s sexual orientation, gender, religion, disability, color, or country of origin.
Nice assumptions read above. I simply stated what it was not that I agree with those that do it.

You are aware what the f word means correct? that falls under a target towards someones sexual orientation so therefore it is indeed hate speech.
Also just because a word does not offend you does not mean it does not offend someone else if you really want to get into what classes as hate speech im sure we can go that route but i can assure you its hate speech.

Since when did the F word imply someones sexual orientation? The f word is an act which can be used by any one no matter their sexual preferences.
Now depending on what they say after the words use can imply something different but that is down to the context of what they write in its entirety after it's use.
Again I didn't say I condone the words use in games. It'extremely rude and uncalled for but it is not hate speech if it is used alone with nothing to follow it regarding my post above.
Maybe the F word me and something else where you are from but to me it is a sexual act which has 4 or 6 letters in it.
If you are meaning the homophobic F word then yes that would be different and come under hate speech. Sorry I may have misunderstood.

But if someone receives a 24 hour ban then that means their next offense is a higher ban. And in extreme cases the devs will immediately escalate to a higher ban. So I'm not really sure what the complaint here is.

Yeah it's not a commonly used term here for the past couple of decades. My American fiance did mention it when over for a few months when my friends mentioned it in regards to a cigarette.
The same went for her shouting out that she smacked my fanny out in public.
Sorry again and yes they need dealt with as it's disgusting to use such hate in a game. Hopefully your reports get actioned quickly.

My bf gets a lot of crap in the after-game chat... it's worrying to see people be so aggresive. He kills all 4 yet they call him a bad mf killer and they call it an easy game and I read that and I'm like "huh?" lol
Luckily we don't have that option on PS4.

When someone gets salty and starts calling me names I tell them to eat it and ######### off. It makes me laugh quite a bit so I enjoy it. If I don't wanna see any of that I just hide the chat or leave right away. But I do agree that if someone is too toxic they should be punished more harshly.

I was not hurt by them at all im simply pointing out that this type of thing regardless of if its the internet is not being handled correctly the post was about how 24 hour and 48 hour bans dont scare anyone but you would have known that if you actually read the title and even the post.

You're right its not a 1 player game but it still does not change the fact that the toxicity in the game could be handled differently but to act like just because words dont hurt you in real life does not mean that toxicity is justified the problem is the fact the devs reward this type of behavior and honestly encourge it ive seen countless devs say "its a pvp game so therefore banter will happen" There is a clear difference between banter and just being a plain out horrible and clearly uneducated and a no life person but hey keep feeding them money champ.

Yeah i can understand that point of view again the post is directed at how people get two slaps on the wrist before any actual punishment is given.
Also this is where we kinda disagree if you want this type of toxicity to stop or even become less common there has to be a threat of perm bans look at league if you do this type of stuff in league you would get perm banned as they take it serious over there they want a Competitive game but they also want a community where players are not harassed the point is i think if behavior took some notes they could get a better enforcement on harassment in general not just hate speech.

yeah thats fair enough, i can sorta get behind that but maybe not escalate as quickly in ban time. But i do agree that the amount of warnings for some people is kinda silly. Especially popular "figure heads" of the game that get to be treated as almost special cases but thats a different discussion entirely.

They care more about DC than harassment even though people are allowed to rage quit via killing themselves on the hook as the first person hooked which should be counted as a dc. DC gets the exact bans as you listed.

Yeah and in my community, I'm free to use the N word.
But everywhere else and toward anyone else, there is a definitive history that I have never had a part in and will never truly understand. Just because I am and whatever closed off community I am in is comfortable with its use doesn't give me free right to throw it around where ever I please.
This is BHVR's game and BHVR's property. It isn't a private chatroom or home. I believe they set the standard.

I generally find the severity of what is being said is more important.
"Hey loser uninstall the game" "######### killer get gud"
is far less 'deep' than
'I hope you and your family die tonight in a fire'
One is silly, The other has blatantly pushed boundaries. If you are getting offended by the silly ones that is an issue on your end. As people said sit and enjoy the salt. It isn't toxic if anything it is poor sportsmanship. Although, I am not sure they care about being banned most of them.

I think maybe it should be a case by case ban.
I had this dude yesterday who were sending threats about ######### and so on. He said he was going to retrieve my exact location by my IP-address. He continued on and gave me specifics such as time and date.
I don't think a 24 hour ban cuts it to be honest.
