New Nightmare feedback

Freddy just feels... off... somehow. I dunno. Maybe my brain is just not accepting the new power set in the skin of a killer I'm already familiar with. And, granted, I've only played one full match with him, so take this with a grain of salt. Here are my thoughts:

1) His game brightness is totally whack. It's so bright that I feel it's distracting.

2) I was playing with dream pallets. I felt like the UI did not clue me in very efficiently to possible pallet locations. The brightness is probably a factor here.

3) Teleport feels almost entirely worthless. Even teleporting to a gen after a Discordance alert, I wasn't able to effectively follow up and catch anyone, not once. I accept that part of this is probably a "me" problem, and I obviously haven't played enough matches to pick up on any potential nuances, but the initial experience doesn't feel good at all. I feel like it needs to be a lot faster, especially on such a long cooldown. Maybe not instant, but teleport time ought to be cut at least in half.

4) No aura-reading on sleeping survivors is stupid. It's the thing that made Freddy what he was. This really needs to be brought back to give him any sense of power.

UPDATE: I just played a second Freddy game with snares instead of pallets, and those feel a LOT better to use by a country mile.

What I said about his teleport and the game brightness still stands. I feel like teleport is way more useful as a tactic to scare survivors away from gens as a fakeout. Like, that seems as though it's a way better use than just teleporting. That's not a great place for it to be in.

Sound is also way too echo-y. I know Freddy's in the dream world and all that, but his overall "sound profile" is really jarring. I wish it were more normalized.

And, I dunno if this is a bug or what, but I consistently cannot successfully hit or grab survivors who are going for unhooks. It felt to me like they had a BT effect, on the unhooker. Is this some Freddy-specific peculiarity that I don't know about, or is it a new issue for all killers, introduced in this patch?

Use Infectious Fright and BBQ with him

Infectious lets you know if anyone is nearby and BBQ will let you see survivors working on the gen

This is especially good because if you start the phase during BBQ's proc, you'll see where the survivors are running off to and you can then follow them with ease especially if they decide to hide by the generator

Overall Infectious with BBQ gives him a little bit of the old tracking power he used to have

My ideal perks would be BBQ, Infectious, Weasel, Enduring/Brutal Strength, Save The Best For Last

I also found snares to be quite wonderful so far. I didn't expect them to be so useful. I use the teleportation feature to move around the map, scare survivors, and teleport to a nearby gen in order to catch my prey while chasing them.

So far, it has been an interesting experience. I will try pallets soon and see if I get a different level of results or not.

I've also had way more succes with the snares than with the fake pallets. The pallets are fun, but they require some set up. On some of the smaller maps there can be actually very little available pallet real estate at the start, so you have to eat some wood before you can place your own and they basicly do nothing for you this whole time. They also don't help at all against window loops.

The dream snares on the other hand really don't look like much but they do make a very clear difference at loops. You can kill the momentum of window vaults and make long loops unsafe. They are very easy to place without losing any speed and you can just leave them around. They also will regularly give you information. They have so much more utility than pallets.

Now, the block add-ons that apply hemorrhage are extremely dispointing. They are a waste of BP and completly unhelpfull. But the blindness blocks are fine honnestly. Triggering a snare and suddenly losing all aura reading can be disorientating, and the sheep block is really cheap. The unicorn block might be a bit overcosted, however since Blindness is only a minor annoyance most of the time. Make it yellow rarity or make it last 2 minutes.
