Why buy killer cosmetics ?
You can only see the weapon, and most of killer skin weapons don't look good anyway.
So whats the point of spending money on a outfit you can't see ?

Imagine living in 2019 and still not being able to comprehend that the people who design and create cosmetics are not the same people that balance the game.

Edit: what I meant, is that people who play the game care more about minor stuff, such as skins, rather than asking for balance. I've never mentioned the creative team.

The community have no control over what BHVR release first when referring to cosmetics and balance. Your comment suggests that they only release cosmetics before balancing the game because the community want more outfits when that couldn't be further from the truth.

Just because you can't see it during gameplay doesn't make it pointless. The survivors can see it, plus you can see it in the lobby and after round tally screens. Also, just knowing that your killer is wearing an outfit that you really like a lot just makes you feel cooler, more intimidating/scary, etc. It's a lot like actual clothes in real life. When you wear really nice clothes that fit you well, and that you like, you feel great/confident. Same thing here in DBD.

@jeyers What would be the point of seeing it in game? You’re focusing playing the core game, not looking through a candy store. And you know what you’re looking like beforehand anyways. I love expressing myself in one of the only ways I can through one of my favorite games of all time. IRL I don’t know what I’m looking like the whole day. I only get to see what I look like when I get ready in the morning (DBD lobby) and when I get home/ it’s the end of the day, getting ready for bed (Tally Screen).

Why do any of us buy anything in game? None of it is real, none of it actively helps us in any way shape or form, but we do it anyway.
Some do it to support the game, others do it because they want to look fabulous while wielding that murder boner, some do it because they like to make their own goals in game, and outfits that can be bought by shards allow that.
The third option is usually my main motivation. I like watching my shard counter going up and deciding which killer gets to flaunt their new look this time.
A further question could be, what does it really matter if you aren't the one paying for it or expected to give up your shards for it?

You do see a lot of the skin actually just not the face. You'll see mostly the hands/legs.
