This is an updated ranking system for killers 3 teachables I have made to include recent killers (Previous List: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/49394/ranking-killers-teachable-perks-from-best-to-just-ok-to-worst#latest) This for each specific killer perks and which one is the BEST, JUST OK, and WORST out of the three. Free perks that are not teachables do not count on this list. This ranking will be based off of how well the perk works on ALL killers. (Note: this is just my opinion, if you have rankings of your own I would love to hear them).

Trapper teachables

BEST: Agitation- This perk really works for all killers because it helps with getting survivors to a hook faster.

JUST OK: Brutal Strength- This one is good and could be considered the best especially if you struggle in chases but I find getting survivors to a hook faster better because all killer need to do that and only some killers struggle with pallets.

WORST: Unnerving Presence- It's not that bad of a perk and it works really well on the doctor it's just that not a lot of killers can get real use out of it.

Wraith teachables

BEST: Bloodhound- This is the best out of the Wraith perks because blood is more easily traceable than scratch marks. (At least it is for me).

JUST OK: Predator- This one is here for the same reason Bloodhound is at the top but it does make scratch marks more consistent.

WORST: Shadowborn- I sometimes don’t even notice the difference in perspective when using this perk and I guess it’s only useful for people who have poor eyesight.

Hillbilly teachables

BEST: Enduring- This is the best one to me because it shortens stun time which in turn can shorten chase time.

JUST OK: Tinkerer- I personally like the old tinkerer better and don’t use this one as much but it has its uses as a stealth perk. The problem is some killers are that great for stealth.

WORST: Lightborn- It’s not that this one is bad it’s just that it’s very situational. This one is only good for flashlights/toxic flashlight teams.

Nurse teachables

BEST: Nurse’s calling- This one is the best because it helps tracking or finding altruistic survivors.

JUST OK: Thanatophobia- This perk isn’t much in practical use than it is in psychological use. When it is in affect you’ll have (some I know not every survivor does this) survivors worrying about healing themselves and one another to get rid of the speed penalty. It would be better if the affect continued after a survivor dies but oh well.

WORST: Stridor- It's a good tracking perk but it only if the survivors are injured. This one also gets countered by just healing and Iron will.

Hag teachables

BEST: HEX:Ruin- This is not only the best hag perk this is also one of the best HEX perk in the game. It's a really good counter to gen progression, to put in perspective how good it is, almost ever killer main at high ranks will automatically have this perk in their build.

JUST OK: HEX: Devour of Hope- This one is pretty good because of the rewards it gives you. (Speed bonuses, expose effect, and it makes survivors moriable). It just has more requirements than the others to get it going ( Hooking survivors and having to be out a certain radius when the get rescued to get the stacks) not to mention it is a HEX perk.

WORST: HEX: The Third Seal- Being able to blind a survivor's aura reading abilities is pretty nice and it's easy to activate (All you have to do is hit a survivor) but it's a HEX perk and it's not that effectual as the other ones previously mentioned.

Doctor teachables

BEST: Overcharge- This also good for generator regression. All you have to do is kick a gen and when a survivor works on that gen they'll have to hit a difficult skillcheck; if they miss it then the gen regresses 5% off the progression bar. They only problem is if get survivors that are amazing at hitting skillchecks.

JUST OK: Monitor & Abuse- This is good for stealth builds but yet again some killers are better than stealth than others, so not all of them benefit from it. Plus again I don't notice the perspective change this one gives.

WORST: Overwhelming Presence- Good for those who want to get rid of items but personally I think it is kind of a waste of a perk slot.

Shape teachables

BEST: Save the Best for Last- The one rewards you for just hitting survivors (except for the obsession) and you get a faster whipping animation which can help if you want to quickly down survivors.

JUST OK: Dying Light- The speed penalty for survivors is okay it's just that the obsession get's a speed bonus and it requires you to kill the obsession for it to activate which could result in a bit of tunneling.

WORST: Play With Your Food- Has a nice speed bonus it's just that it doesn't give you a lot of tokens, it requires you to lose a chase with the obsession to obtain those tokens, and all those tokens can easily be loss by hitting any survivor.

Cannibal teachables

BEST: BBQ & Chili- Tracking survivors that are far away from where you hook a survivor is nice but the real quality of this perk comes from the bonus bloodpoints received by just hooking a survivor.

JUST OK: Franklin’s Demise- A better version of Overwhelming because you get to knock items out of survivors hands and damage that item.

WORST: Knock Out- This one is good for slugging builds, but not for much else.

Nightmare teachables

BEST: Bloodwarden- This is the only reason people buy Freddy. It is a really good end game perk and it’s prefect for punishing altruist survivors and survivors who stick around just to gloat.

JUST OK: Remember Me- Also a good end game perk but again you have to tunnel the obsession for it to work at it’s full compacity.

WORST: Fire Up- This speed bonus is nice the only problem is that you have to have gens completed for it to be activated.

Pig teachables

BEST: Surveillance- It’s kind of ironic that this is the best perk considering how it was in the past. This perk is the best at not only tracking gen progression but also finding survivors (especially the stealthy kind).

JUST OK: Make Your Choice- This is a interesting one. You can punish a survivor that saves someone off the hook (depending if you are in the required distance) by giving them the exposed affect. The only problem is you have find the survivor that did the saving and hit them so half the time this perk won’t work.

WORST: Hangman’s Trick- This one is just to situational to use. The only situation where this perk is useful is when your up against a sabo team.

Clown teachables

BEST: Pop Goes The Weasel- This perk is perfect at regressing gens and can save you from gen tappers. The downside is having to hook survivors or forgetting to use it.

JUST OK: Bamboozle- Pefect for shutting down infinite window loops problem is that it works only one window at a time.

WORST: Clourophobia- Good at slowing down healing but really it really isn’t the popular choice among the three.

Spirit teachables

BEST: Spirit Fury- This like enduring can eliminate fear of getting pallet stunned because you can tear through the pallet without having to break it (if you meet the requirements of the perk that is).

JUST OK: HEX: Haunted Ground- The idea of a trap totem is amazing to me. This gives survivors the exposed affect if the cleanse your trapped totem and it can sometimes make them reconsider doing so.

WORST: Rancor- It’s good if you just want to kill your obsession and find 3 other survivors (or if you have a bonus where you need to kill someone with your own hands).

Huntress teachables

BEST: HEX: Lullaby- perfect for throwing survivors off guard with delayed/no sound notifications and it’s stacks are easy to acquire through just hooking survivors. The only downside is it’s a HEX perk.

JUST OK: Territoral Imperative- This one and beast of prey actually for me battle for the WORST spot. This one is here because you can actually tell when it’s activated.

WORST: Beast of Prey- Be honest I think people just use this for the bonus bloodpoints and just ignore the whole no red stain when in bloodlust one thing because no killer wants to be in a chase long enough to have bloodlust. Most want to finish the chase as quick as possible.

Legion teachables

BEST: Discordance- Like surveillance it is good for gen tracking but it helps to punish survivors who work together and to split them up from one another.

JUST OK: Mad Grit- Only works in body blocking situations but it is satisfying when you shut survivors down for doing that.

WORST: Iron Maiden- When I play as a survivor I rarely even use lockers (besides from going up against a doctor) so have a locker based perk seems a bit strange and probably won’t get much use out of any killer, except for the huntress and the doctor.

Plague teachables

BEST: Corrupt Intervention- A really good break to keep gens from getting done ridiculously fast at the beginning of the game and will force survivors to come close to your location.

JUST OK: Infectious Fright- It’s a good perk for locating survivors but it’s also useful for knowing if there is a survivor around waiting to flash light blind or pallet stun you when you’re picking up a downed survivor.

WORST: Dark Devotion- Alright for stealth play but you have to hit your obsession first and even if you do that survivors will just look to see you coming anyways.

Ghostface teachables

BEST: Thrilling Tremors- A great perk for stalling gen progress but it really shines as a tracking perk to tell which gen you should go to next after picking up a survivor.

JUST OK: I’m All Ears- While skilled killers may not find it useful this perk is great for killers who are new to the game. It well help you read where a survivor is going after they fast vault in a chase.

WORST: Furtive Chase- I have found literally no use with this perk. It’s difficult to stack up ( Depending on how good the obsession is in a chase or at hiding) it doesn’t really help you in chase because survivors can just look behind them or see your red stain, it makes keeping up with your obsession a bit confusing, and you don’t keep your stacks when the obsession dies which makes no sense cause you keep stacks on the other obsession perks (STBFL, PWYF, Etc.).

Well if you’re finally at the end of this unnecessarily long list then God bless you and thank you for reading it. And again this whole list is just my opinion but I would like hear yours and see your own ranking of teachables. That is all. Good day.

    Alright, lets break ths down

Trapper:Yup, currently agree but if brutal gets a buff then that's the winner imo.

Wraith:I agree, bloodhound is fantastic for tracking.

Hillbilly:I think enduring is great but tinkerer can be fun, ultimately though I agree.

Nurse:Nurse's calling is the best but I think Than can be really good on certain killers, Plague being the main one.

    Hag:Absolutely zero arguments here

Shape:STBFL is fantastic but I personally think PWYF is the second best because it's reliable unlike dying light because of the fact that your obsession can change.

    Cannibal:No arguments here

    Nightmare:No arguments here

Pig: Yet again, no arguments here although I can definitely see this one being debatable.

Clown:Before the pop buff I would have said bamboozle but now, yeah, pops amazing.

Spirit:I gotta say I personally think spirit fury is her best, it helps force pallets early which is beautiful, HG I usually have bad luck with because once it's popped people usually go into omega immersion mode and Rancor is great if you've had a bad game and just want that one kill, it's okay.

Huntress:Yup, I gotta agree, when Lullaby works out you're in for a fun match but I think BOP is actually surprisingly decent.

    Legion:Zero arguments to be found

Plague:I agree yet again, corrupt is one of my favorite perks actually.

Ghostface:I agree yet again, TT is also quickly becoming a favorite of mine, it's especially fantastic on new Freddy.

    I forgot about doc

Doctor:Gotta disagree, M&A is a great perk for all killers in my opinion especially the ones with a 24m terror radius and though I love overcharge, the higher-up you go the worse the perk gets because you get survivors who are good with skillchecks and can counter it all day.

Shadowborn is at least better than Predator, Shadowborn is at least useful for Nurse and Huntress, Predator is worthless on literally anyone, even on Spirit.

    Stridor counters Iron Will.

Monitor and Abuse is better than Overcharge, Overcharge is useless against any decent survivor.

Spirit Fury isn't Spirit's worst perk, it's probably her best perk actually ( especially for loopable killers ).

Another person who overrates Corrupt Intervention, Jesus. Infectious Fright is better.

Pretty much agree on all fronts. Though Corrupted Intervention isn't bad. It's just unlike ruin you need to build into it with a specific purpose most are not sure how to do this. It seems the perks are available, but getting them all on one killer who can use the information is another question all together

Gotta disagree with a few of these:

Shadowborn can be decent. Especially for killers who need good eyesight. You have to to be able to use this perk.

Lightborn: Surprisingly useful, especially at high ranks, where you can just expect one ultra rare insta-blind flashlight.

Stridor raises the volume for all survivor breathing, not just for when they're injured. You might be able to realize someone's there when you wouldn't otherwise.

Devour Hope, when it gets going, oh man is it good.

You'd be surprised how many times I catch people with M&A... they just do not expect the shorter red stain and TR.

Overcharge only works on Green to white ranks. It backfires everywhere else.

PWYF can be very good on certain killers, such as wraith or tombstone myers.

Bloodwarden is garbage. Most of the time, you can't make it work, and the other times... nope, you really can't make it work with how many adrenaline survivors there are. Not without NOED, and even then it's unlikely you'll be able to do anything.

Remember me used to be good, then they changed the token max to four and lowered it to 12 seconds. I remember 6 stacks and 20 seconds. You could get things done. : D

Hangman's trick is bugged, so it doesn't even work properly.

Haunted ground is such a roulette wheel. If you can get downs, then it can work, but it can be broken immediately and you find no-one.

Spirit fury is the current best of her perks.

Rancor is just an obsession mori. That's it.

Huntress' Lullaby isn't that great at higher ranks, it's almost a worthless slot. Especially if destroyed before 5 hooks.

Beast of Prey losing your Red Stain is a big deal, but nobody seems to care. If M&A can trip people up with a smaller Red Stain, then removing it can be very confusing. However, this really only works better at mid ranks, who understand the red stain's importance, but aren't quite good at mindgames yet.

I've been running Mad Grit way more. Then again, I use the Agitation, Iron Grasp, Mad Grit, and NOED combo so I can down people really quickly in endgame. It's really satisfying...

Iron Maiden is good at locating people, but not at much else. Especially when you run BBQ.

I've seen Infectious Fright used well, so it's not really a mid tier perk.

Corrupt only lasts the first 120 seconds of the match, making it wasted if you don't catch anyone in that time.

I haven't played enough with GF's perks to make any good judgements, I'd like to see the cooldown for I'm all ears reduced by a lot.

Remember Me used to be 30 seconds at max stacks and now it's just 16 seconds.

Hangman's Trick isn't bugged, it's 40 seconds for hooks sabotaged with Saboteur, because Saboteur adds 30 seconds to the broken hooks.

Yeah I get where your coming from and I 100% respect your opinion and appreciate the feedback but if a perk is JUST OK or WORST doesn’t mean I think there bad it just means it doesn’t fit my play style ( which is protecting or stalling gens) or I don’t use them as much but I still think they have usefulness.

Shadowborn I don’t notice that difference that much (unless I’m playing Michael or GF) and I find more use for Predator because I usually follow scratch marks.

Stridor I don’t really use as much but I’m willing to reconsider that.

I’m still at green ranks ( I know I’m not that good at the game) so Overcharge works for me but if I get to higher ranks I’ll reconsider that choice

For the Spirits perks when I was updating this list I meant to update my ranking of her perks to BEST: Spirit Fury, JUST OK: Hex: Haunted Ground, WORST: Ranchor; but I forgot to do that, so that’s my bad.

As for Corrupt Intervention, again I prioritize slowing gen progression over most things and when I use Infectious Fright survivors always seem out of range so it rarely works for me.

Thank you for the feedback but when I was updating this I meant to change my Spirit perk ranking to BEST: Spirit Fury, JUST OK: Hex: Haunted Ground, and WORST: Ranchor but forgot to.

But Corrupt Intervention doesn't slow gens down, it just block 3 gens, force survivors to spread out ( which is a bad thing ) and do the other 4 gens without any problems in that time.

It seems to slow them down for me but again I’m at green ranks and I’m going to take a guess that your at a higher rank than me so it’s effectiveness probably also depends on ranks. If I get to higher ranks I may update my rankings but for now I’m leaving them as is.

Huh... Red stain is affected by TR, so it should... : P

M&A is still a good perk though.

Your list for Spirit is backwards.

Ur red stain is not tied to ur TR. You can be outside the killers TR and still see their red stain.

Yeah I'm meant to change the spirits listing as well when I was updating this but I forgot to.

It is affected but do remember that m&a also increases your terror radius in chase. So it actually brightens it even more.

  • yandere777
    yandere777 Member Posts: 728

The intensity of the red stain is actually tied to your terror radius. Tier 2 myers will have a darker red stain then a 32 meter killer tr because his tr is smaller

Trapper - Swap Agitation and Brutal Strength. Agitation's bonus is nearly never useful in a match, whereas most killers have to break a significant amount of pallets and gens. In the sheer time saved, Brutal Strength stacks up higher, and also happens at a more crucial point, IN the chase, meaning less ground is gained per pallet so hits potentially come earlier.

Doctor - Swap Overcharge and Monitor & Abuse, M&A is fantastic on stealthy or slower killers, but still significant on anyone else. Really the only one it's generally bad on is Doctor. Overcharge is a wasted perk slot above rank 10 as anyone can hit them.

Spirit - Spirit Fury is by far her best. It cuts down chases, means you can be more risky and aggressive and makes survivors waste pallets earlier and loop less even when it's not charged. Rancor is mediocre information compared to other tracking perks, and its exposed/mori effect is basically a meme. Haunted Grounds is interesting but incredibly unreliable. It's also a one off effect so you rely on it being popped when you can use it, or it's -1 perk.

Overall notes; it's much less useful information to compare perks separated by killer. Something like Leatherface, Hag, Spirit and Clown bring some seriously insane perks, whereas Huntress, Plague and Ghostface are all battling for the 9 worst perks in the game.

Hangman's Trick isn't bugged, it's just completely countered by the only thing in the game it does anything against.
