I miss playing this game.
I know that the developers are working hard to fix the pip and ranking, I've de-ranked so hard by the monthly reset that the games are no longer enjoyable as those in rank 10 or so - and I can't even go back to that rank due this error...
So what's the current state of the game?

Its in a very bad state, shown by the lack of player growth and stale meta perks.
For a long time now there has been a slow decline in viable survivor perks and now killer mains push for adrenaline to get nerfed as well now that Mettle of Man got made unusable.
Killer perks on the other hand are mostly as strong as they always been, u usually stick with the 2-3 same perks and have 1 rando if u wana spice things up.
But devs are absolutely catering to killers this year and it shows.

The only real problem this game has right now (in my opinion) is that solo survivor is boring and frustrating. It needs to be funnier.

Legion and Pig have been nerfed far too many times, not to mention the fact that Nurse is gonna be nerfed soon. Just because one perk that clearly was broken and blatantly stupidly designed was nerfed doesn’t mean that the devs were outright catering to Killers. It made playing M1 Killers impossible.

I honestly didn’t mind old MoM, I rarely used it but it didn’t bother me as killer.

Bugs. Lotsa bugs. That's the only problem I see with the game. Otherwise I think it's somewhat balanced (I'm sure others will say otherwise). Survivors have perks killers don't like, killers have perks survivors don't like, survivors and killers can be toxic at times (but not always).
Also, speaking of toxic at times, the community itself needs work too.
Other than these, I think the game is fine.

But just the opposite killers say the same thing too about survivors. Ahhh the survivors control/decide what killer can do:) and survivors say ahhhh that kilier is not fun ahhhh he's op.

It's in a fine state:D yea there's some bugs and other stuff that needs fixing like disconnecting.:(

Also quick tip if you want to get back to rank 10 then just camp over and over until your at your rank:)

Killers get also nerfs on a regular bases.
Sure, they call it not everytime a nerf - sometimes a rework - but still, - a nerf is a nerf. No matter how something gots called.
If you guys really like to have strong perks, then the game needs also strong killers and that is currently not the case (we have currently 3 killers that are "accepted" as being strong*, from 16**).
*With strong I mean, good enough, so that the major part of their playerbase can reach and stay with them at the red ranks.
**And yes, I know, some would say there is not 1 strong killer, or that all killers are too strong, but I talk here from the average opinion I have read in those forums.
TL:DR Both sides carrying the burden of getting nerfs.

I don't understand these rankings of killers.
Sure I understand that Nurse, Spirit and Hillbilly (in that order) are the top 3 killers but I also see people play really well with killers like Ghostface, Clown etc at red rank.
To me, I don't care about the strength of a killer, I care about the fun factor, that's why I main Billy and Clown when I do play killer.
I don't know why but they're fun to me. I wish every killer player was like this 😔

Well, then I wish you luck and fun with your killers and that not a nerf comes along, that robs you of it. I have also very often play the Clown, but I got never warm with him.
When I think on fun, then I think more on my matches with the pre patch Legion, Meyers and the Trapper. But as always, different people have different likes ;) :).
Fun is for me also very important. Most of the fun I had was while I was chasing someone, but let me not lie, sometimes a win is also great for having fun.
So, I don't mind buffs for the 13 other killers. I think as a consequence, bhvr would also add then stronger perks for survivors.

^Ignorance in it's simplest form. Blame the devs for being unable to create a good survivor perk without making it broken, not the killers who advocate for a fair and balanced game.

I always seem to get up to rank 10 as killer and then I will run in to a wave of swf red and purple rank survivors and I will drift back down to 13 and start getting a bunch of rank 15-20 which I decimate. This has been the pattern since the new ranking system has been in place. Love the game still but something seems wrong with this ranking system. Before I would be red rank as killer with some good and bad games. Seemed fair. Now its like i hit a wall of SWF on coms. They have mostly all been good sports and in post game chat have told me they are SWF/coms. This situation I am okay with because even though hard its challenging but there are new players which I end up against that are really disgusted when I get bumped back down and go against them.

I didn't enjoy pre patch Legion 😂 especially with Cold Dirt and Frank's mix tape.
However I dislike playing as and against Spirit as I find her unfair.

Due to what error? It resets monthly. That's been how it works. If you didnt keep playing, your rank plummeted every month. No error.

anyway, the game is pretty okay as of right now! the only issues are some broken mechanics and features that need to be reworked, but there's not too much of an issue. :'0c

The game is more balanced than it's ever been. We do need something to shake up the meta, but you can shake it up yourself by running off-meta perks. We're in between content drops, so queue times aren't all too great, but you bet when Chapter 13 drops, we'll be in good shape.

The Devs are looking into ranking after Chapter 13. Just hold on until then.

The game is great right now. They fixed a lot of stuff and they keep doing it constantly, also a lot of requested problems with this game (like Freddy rework, Legion rework, Lobby crashing bugs etc).
Everyone who is saying this game is in horrible state right now should step back and take a look what they have done so far this year.
The only really big problem i see right now is the ballancing. Its relative well ballanced for R15-5 but for R20-16 it is horrible (survivor are getting destroyed) as it is for R1-4 (Killer is getting destroyed).

This game could use some gameplay changes. Anything would be good as it does get stale with time but maybe because I know it too much.
Also some flat out increase of game lenghts so that no side can crush the other too quickly which is easy for survivors getting destroyed. Just increase jump off hook chance if all survivors are downed or hooked.
I wouldn't be surprised if it is in the game at the moment.

That is false though, 2018 was the best year population wise for dbd overall.
2019 so far has seen the highest momentarily spike but also its going way down now than previous year.
So if the game is fine, why is it losing playerbase?

I dont even calculate 2017 and 2016 since it should be obvious those years were not nearly as good as 19 and 18 (best month in this time period was 15.000)

It's really not "in a bad state", the game has been in MUCH worse condition before. Compared to the past, the game is in it's most playable and balanced state. The playerbase is not losing the amount of people that some are saying, it's like a 2% decrease in 1 month, hardly any players, which will jump again the next chapter release.
The game is very fun.

The game can be fun I agree fully! I have fun too otherwise I wouldn't play it. But currently I am facing lots of toxic killers and survivors that just DC/suicide or just afk. I can blame them and I do sometimes but many times its the killer that just plays tryhard like. Sweaty. I can't describe it better thh. To me and don't missunderstand me ,its just a feeling just an opinion of mine, its getting less funny atm. I can't count myself as the average survivor who plays with the same perks all time or just plays the same all time. I try out stuff and builds and make my own. Half of my friends left the game too for months. The new release of ghostface didn't drag them in. Content is a good way to lure people into it again but if the fun factor is out the options of viable and not just situational perks gone then its getting boring. So yes it isn't in a bad state yet but I fear it will be soon enough if that continues. I don't want to play SWF all the time to have fun I don't want to be forced into SWF to "win" all the time. And I don't want to use DS all the time just to ensure that I am not being tunneled or camped all the time.

The dc will be fix soon once dedicated servers arrive. Also the other things should get fix too.
But the main thing is dcs

Yes I agree and I don't like that black/white view of some people here. I agree that the games are always depending on your survivors and depending on how the killer plays but no one can tell me that all of their games they play end miserably. There is always a counter play for a killer play but people don't do that always..

The game is losing players due to bugs, glitches, bad hotboxes, and zero gameplay changes. The games has stayed the same for 3 years! End game collapse was the only major change to the gameplay and it isn't even a big deal. Long term players are leaving because the game hasn't changed enough. It's just do gens and leave. Nothing else.

And endgame collapse is a pretty big annoyance due to the no escape bug. I agree with all that you said (even though I enjoy survivor gameplay)

LMAO you really just said End Game Collapse was the only big gameplay change. There has been tonnes of gameplay changes, for one, breaking generators wasn't there from the start of the game.
