Stranger Things is a fairly big deal in the pop culture scene right about now. I've heard all about it and I've never watched a single episode. A lot of buzz is to be expected. Even the Ghostface trailer generated a lot of new hype for the game.

Yeah...but did it ever go 2 on trending before? Imagine a HUGE jump in playerbase. even if it is only like 5% of the views.

stranger things is one of the most popular running television series by a pretty wide margin. Its also quite a bit more current than any of their previous licenses. Both of those facts mean that this chapter is generating a lot more outside attention than is the norm, even though previous licensed chapters have brought in fair amounts of new folks.

Yeah.. it's really freaking cool. Congrats to them for getting such a huge franchise. I hope those who never heard of DBD try the game out and stay with us.
Unfortunately there are already turds talking about deranking to grief the stranger things fan community that decide to try out the game.

Hmm, lots of new players could be a bad thing though when it comes to the PTB. New players means Rank 20 newbs who cry OP and then the Devs go with it because the majority are ######### players.

The devs do make quite a few mistakes, but their not THAT dumb. I think they calculate hours so they adjust for people that have some experience in the game

contrary to popular belief, the devs dont really actually cave to those newby cries. Also, its kind of unlikely that many of these folks are coming to the ptb

That last part with the PTB crossed my mind after I wrote it, the new players wouldn't arrive until the full release, my bad.
But one thing that is common is that in the PTB all the ranks are split up so you get low ranks going against high ranks and then the lowers complain the Killer is too strong when it's just the player.

those complaints usually dont see any influence. Ghostface was getting complaints like that from day one and yet he ended up getting HEAVILY buffed before the end of the PTB

That IS true despite the unnecessary 8 meter hotfix later. I was actually generally surprised they listened to feedback and changed I'm All Ears and took away Ghost's noises, I thought they would hold their ground on the weird design choices they made that were silly.

I wont deny, they do make odd choices from time to time, but behaviour is a lot better at balancing this game than most folks give them credit for. Balancing a game is hard to begin with... but balancing an asymmetrical game? there are reasons why almost all other attempts into this genre are dead within a couple months.

It's currently #1 on trending here in Canada. The trailer also has 882,000 views. To put that in perspective the Ghostface trailer has 1.5 million views. I could honestly see this surpassing that within less than a week. This is insane.
DbD has never recieved this much attention.
