Don't rely on the gamepedia wiki for official information
A bunch of people here acted like the gamepedia DBD wiki was official. One of its "top contributors" often spouted that on the forums. And the website itself says it is official. And yet it's been confirmed by the devs not to be. Glad this issue has been put to rest.
There has been misinformation posted on that wiki so please stop relying on it. As with any Wiki, take it with a grain of salt and always do your own research.

Well actually, you can still rely on it for perk info and shrine as those are usually true
3 -
The information on Wikipedia is usually true as well, but you're not allowed to use it as a source for a reason. And that wiki has often gotten DLC release and event information wrong.
3 -
True

I dislike the gamepedia wiki for DBD anyways TBH

I didn't see anywhere the halloween event but the gamepedia leaked it for me
0 -
Doesn't change what I wrote.

I already know it's not official. I'll still use it.
5 -
That's nice. But plenty of people thought it was official because people who contributed to it posted on this forum saying so. I never said not to use it, either. I said take the info with a grain of salt as with any Wiki or nonofficial source.
3 -
Rule of thumb: Wikia/Fanon/etc. = fan-run =/= official
4 -
Agreed.
1 -
Any examples of deliberate misinformation?
3 -
Yeah, I'd like to see some specific instances where there is misinformation. Just saying that 'there are lies somewhere' isn't gonna cut it.
2 -
I didn't say "deliberate." They've gotten event information, like how the objectives work, and release dates of DLC wrong before. And right now they have posted dates for a Bloodhunt that Peanits has said isn't accurate because they haven't announced a Bloodhunt yet.
1 -
misinformation whether deliberate or not is still misinformation and there is a plethora of it. They get a ton of stuff wrong.
4 -
They posted the Spirit launch date as September 11th last year, a couple weeks beforehand. The 11th came and went and people threw a fit when the chapter didn’t come out. It was pretty chaotic.
Not a malicious attempt to spread misinformation, but a little careless about advertising dates that don’t always pan out.
2 -
Yes, thank you, that was one of the specific times I had in mind. People were pissed.
1 -
I remember vividly! I do recall saying something about it not being official around that time, to try to put out some fires, and one of the contributors got very angry with me here. Like, I wasn’t trying to be rude. You’re not official. I’m stating a fact, not insulting you.
2 -
The "contributers" is my main reason for not liking the wiki I'm fine with misinformation from time to time but they also get mad when people use the wiki for a thread or other things at time which is confusing.
2 -
The same thing happened to me with probably the same person. It was obviously not official but Bhvr never really commented on it, to my knowledge, so a lot of people just took that contributor at his word. It's not a huge deal but it's dishonest and, like with the Spirit, people get hyped and then upset when incorrect information is posted there.
2 -
Oh, that's pretty awful! I've been worried that we would get a bloodhunt before the new chapter releases, but it's good to hear that might not be the case
1 -
The release dates are tentative anyways so the people who data mine the info that goes up on the wiki is true its just that those dates/info are subject to change......
Past events like chinese new year, the halloween cosmetics and invitations and crap all ended up on the wiki after being data mind well before the events hit live and ended up being real/true.... just because these dates haven't been confirmed yet or if they end up not being accurate doesnt mean the person didnt get the info from a good source.
3 -
Yes. Like I said, I never thought anybody was lying or maliciously trying to misdirect. But they don’t always specify that things are subject to change, and then if something doesn’t happen, everyone blames the devs. The contributor I was talking about never accepted responsibility for it either, he just kind of jumped on the “blame the devs” bandwagon and got angry at anyone who said he was wrong.
He has a radar for these things, too. I’m waiting for him to come yell at me again. I honestly am not trying to be rude. I know they work very hard to keep that page current. Just stating facts and sharing my experience with issues in the past.

I'm an Admin there and I'll just say: Official infos are stated there correctly, unless some contributor changes them. I also think this speculation isn't really needed, but there are people who like to share speculations. I already removed the speculated dates from the main page.
I've been an Admin for 2 months now and I never stumbled across such things, but I think others might have.
The Wiki is official, but it's a community project and isn't run by the devs. It feels awful to know that such things happened in the past, but I didn't get to experience this yet. I just told the person responsible for the speculation that people are disappointed because of that. Only this person has contact with the devs, I don't, the other admins don't. I thought I could trust them regarding these dates.

I'm an admin of DBD Wiki and I'll just say: most official infos there are accurate, but it's a community project: anyone can change it.
I've only been an Admin for two months, and it feels really awful to hear that such issues existed. I don't have contact with the devs, neither do the other admins, except for the person who wrote the speculated dates on the main page. I thought I could trust them regarding these dates. I already removed the dates from the main page and talked to that person. I feel really bad that the wiki spread such misinformation.
I don't know what the intentions of the person who shared these dates are, I have no means of knowing it.

Edit: never mind

*insert star wars meme of Anakin saying LIAR*
1 -
The thing that is nice about the DBD wiki is that it gives info on perks that the perk description doesn't; i.e Spine Chill and vaulting.
2 -
No need to feel bad! Everybody makes mistakes. Thank you for commenting.
3 -
Alright then. Thanks. Talk to the person yourselves if you want to know about their intentions, I don't wanna have trouble with them.
I can state all the things written by myself on the wiki are proven and confirmed, either by testing or by the devs. The person has contact with the devs, I don't. I have to wait way longer to get an answer, but...
Idk, I seriously don't know how this person came to the conclusion that these dates were legit.
1 -
And, the Wiki is official, but not run by the devs. Spread of misinformation can always happen. The person who wrote the dates on the main page is an Admin since 2017, they are basically the most experienced Admin. I’ve been an Admin for 2 months, I’m very unexperienced in comparison to them.
To confirm this fact, you can go to DBD’s twitch channel and you’ll see there is a link to the Wiki, with the title “Gamepedia”.

But, it could be literally anyone. I just thought they were right because of their contact with the devs and their experience. The community is very disappointed because of that, and, even though I and the other admins are not responsible for it, I think the least I can do is to apologize to the community: I’m sorry.
1 -
Hope you understand the situation, and, forgive the wiki.
1 -
You’re fine, love. No worries whatsoever!
1 -
Ok. Thanks for the understanding.

You can rely on it, since it does keep track of patch notes. It also gives some fun trivia on the characters, which I like.
And to be fair, most -pedia sources should be taken with a grain of salt regardless.
0 -
I think you can rely on most official informations featured there.
0 -
Yeah. Some articles are BHVR edit only, like the new chapter’s characters pages.
0 -
No, BHVR doesn't run the wiki. Admins can edit those, e. g. I can edit them. It's safe to assume they will be much more accurate since contributors with bad intentions can't edit them.
0 -
I must’ve read over that and just assumed. Sorry for any inconvenience!
0 -
No worries. :)

I was wondering how long after Doc's ban that a thread would appear throwing shade on the wiki.
0 -
Thing is they datamined the bloodhunt event but this time instead of waiting for an official statement they just posted it. A Gray Area they really cant get into actual trouble for but still a stupid mistake.
1 -
Idk
0 -
I didn't even know he was until after I posted it. 🤷 That's really none of my concern.
0 -
Example of misinformation?
As far as I could tell the Wiki is pretty spot on. It's reasonable to expect errors, I mean even an official wiki run by developers will have wrong information some where at some point.
1 -
The 2x blood point is fake
0 -
There were a few examples posted throughout this thread.
My main point was that it's not official, as in information within it is not cleared by the devs before the contributors publish it, therefore until the devs themselves announce something on social media or in the forums, then take what is written on the wiki with a grain of salt.
