Enough with rank resets

Or extend the duration of the season, it's not fun. As Survivor why am I dropped all the way back to people who aren't as experienced which results in matches that are more frustrating than fun simply because others barely know how to play the game?

I just don't wanna sweat out of my butt to win. I want to have fun.

I enjoy the challenge of red ranks for two weeks. After that point, I'm not interested in being called racial slurs anymore because I won. If I do keep playing, I become toxic as well. Ergo, I prefer to chill in purple ranks. Survivors are somewhat competent there, but they are efficient gods either. And in fact, it is a problem regarding the game. If it is no longer enjoyable at high ranks, steps need to be taken to make sure that it CAN be fun.

I've argued that reset isn't fun for most. I can't imagine it's fun for rank 17 survivors when I get knocked down to rank 10 on reset day. It's certainly not fun for me as a solo queue survivor when my rank 15 teammates don't touch gens or know what a pallet looks like. It really doesn't make any sense. The whole purpose of rank is to segregate the playerbase by skill level, so why have one week out of every month where people are eother frustrated at teammates or overwhelmed by the killer? Going from rank 1 to 10 is insanity. That opens up potential matchmaking between rank 15 survivors and killers that were at red ranks a day earlier and vice versa. That skill gap is enormous and that match should never occur, contrived rank reset or not. I'm not a 3 gen looper as a survivor on my best day, but yesterday I did it twice. This game is supposed to be fun for everyone.

Not everyone is meant to enjoy a multiplayer game. I never got into the LoL or Fortnite games. If you want to enjoy a game under your terms and conditions, knowing full well that other people have their own preferences, you're just not all going to achieve a perfect nirvana. I don't enjoy DBD many times, so I go play something else.

If there wasn't a rank reset wouldn't just about everyone eventually make it to red ranks besides just newer players? Month passes the green ranks are in purple, then another month passes the purple are in red etc.

That's just a thought process anyways. Personally I'm against any sort of ranking system outside of matching of the first 5 levels. There is too much rng to me.

Yes it is the game problem. The main purpose of video games is fun, and if you aren't having fun and are instead sweating every game, why bother playing it?

Why does it even matter? There are no rewards.

It's simply a tool to recalibrate matchmaking so that potatoes dont fight pros, and that the top 1% dont just get to sit there.

It's not a ranked system or season.

Are we all STILL unable to acknowledge that fact?

Yup. Don't play it. Mattieuw — or however you spell his name — even said it himself. He said "go play Civ 6." You can't expect every one to like every game. I suppose it's a problem for people wanting to like it, but if you don't, you're just like every one else who has their own preferences, dude. Nothing wrong with that.

Maybe your low-tier opinions on fun and games shouldn't be taken seriously whatsoever, hm?

I've been saying this for a while now as well. All they have to do is make a ranked decay, that way if you're not playing for a while, your rank goes down more slowly rather than immediately going down to a much lower rank than you should be. Much more balanced, much better for the game, much less frustration. The only people who seem to enjoy ranked reset are people who mostly/only play killer. And that's because they have an easier time.

I agree totally. Rank resets are stupid for anyone who does not play regularly, like me. I just can't be arsed to grind my way to the rank I probably belong.

Rank reset/decay is always stupid in any competivive game ever made. Its not like people lose their skills magically if they take a break from the game. Even Overwatch is moving away from rank decay (thumbs up for that).

What is the purpose of rank reset exactly? I can see it happening after a significant patch for example but I don't understand the point in it being a monthly thing.

If they had rank rewards I would be happy for the season to extend. But for now I think they need the rank reset to freshen up the game. I get bored of facing spirits every game and always facing the same builds. I personally think I would have stopped playing this game a while ago if I never got these fun breaks from the sweaty rank 1 games.

IN THEORY rank reset is supposed to keep you playing the game, so you maintain the rank you are at. In other words, its got nothing to do with your skill or fun or gameplay. Its an incentive to make you play more.

Is there any single PLAYER here who thinks this is a good idea?

    @Bloodartist

As long as it keeps people playing the game for their monthly satisfaction, it's probably ok for the devs.

However, I think they could make the move for a Player XP based matchmaking and give real rewards or a monthly leaderboard for constant playing. This might also help to increase the playerbase, if experienced players don't stomp the newbies anymore.

I imagine it's significantly less fun for casual/new players.

Rank Reset is good for getting remaining killer adapts.

I have a much easier time playing solo survivor at low ranks than at high ranks.

Are you just being carried by your team or something? Low rank is better for survivor if you're good at the game. Sure sometimes you get a bad game and hooked and have potato survivor teammates who have no clue what to do, but I shoot up out of Yellow and Green way too fast (takes like a day of playing). I actually like being in the lower ranks, it's relaxing and easy compared to red and purple ranks.
