Why do people dc so late in a match?
It happens from time to time, but I've had two today that had me curious. My last match was me as Hag. Was able to stack Devour about eight minutes in. Three gens had popped, had some decent chases. Start killing, dude dcs. Find another, dc. That's at least 15k points on their end they just lost for that.
Earlier today, on the other end, was against an iri head huntress. Nothing too crazy. Everybody had one hook, then she attempted to face camp me on mine. Was saved, borrowed time, got the gens in under ten minutes. She hooks another, I distract with the first gate, they pop the second aaaaaand. . . dc.
I mean, I kind of get dcing early in a match, even if you're first hook, or if a chase lasted over a minute, but when it's nearly over? That was just a waste of time.

People get too mad and DC or their internet went out.
It’s usually the first one lmao.

Personally I DC when I'm fed up with the game. Could be first thing or I could be the last alive after accruing 25k points. The points don't matter to me, but making a point to the killer of a BS death in a cheaty game does. I constantly have a million points to spend and have 1k items and offerings at any given time so what does it matter if I lose a game worth of points?

It could be a variety of reasons. People could get mad and disconnect because they were outplayed. There is always that slight chance that their internet really did just die on them. There is application errors and game errors. Some people de-rank, and this means they will just disconnect regardless of where they were at in the match. Finally, the person could just be having a really ######### day and some random BS sent them over the edge.

It's also worth noting that if their internet goes out, they usually get to keep points and items, so they may turn their internet off deliberately as a means of having their cake and eating it too.

The reason i usually get when i ask is "I was going to die anyway may as well quit and get into a new match faster"

they feel genuine rage so they quit

I guess people think they can salvage what they can and Survivor/Get a sacrifice, but if they see afterwards that they can't, they will just rage-quit out of pure genuine anger.
Until Dedicated Servers are a thing, you'll still see people do this in moderation to avoid the ban... And it was actually a big issue for me for a few days at a time... I'm glad we're getting closer to Dedicated Servers being finished.

Besides internet issues or the game bugging out, the players either dc because they are angry (the genuine rage-quit) or they consider the match lost and just want to move on to the next game as fast as possible.

DC from survivors puts points into your "Brutality" category instead of "Sacrifice". This means that if you max the far easier Brutality category, survivors can deny you points by DCing. Furthermore, Sacrifice is a requirement to pip in ra king, so by denying you hooks, they are griefing your ranking.
You might say - this is an easy fix! Make DC's count as hooks and sacrifices! But this is BHVR we're talking here. None of thst makes sense to them.

Sad.

Either genuine ragequits or "tactical" disconnects like disconnecting to give someone else a shot at the hatch or whatever. It's very rarely any deeper than that.

For me it’s the opposite people always wait 5 seconds into the match before dcing so the game doesn’t cancel.

Idk, but rank reset doesn't help with the volume of them. Just played a game where I had 3 people tagged and the second one I hit ran to the corner of the map to self-care, I saw scratchmarks lead there and then stop so it was obvious. They DC'd when I picked them up...like, really...
