These new Stranger Things fans are versing red ranks

I know this has been mentioned many times but BHVR tweeted that the game is free to play at the moment and I am seeing lots of games were two red ranks survivors are teaming up with a rank 18-20 and destroying brand new killers at rank 19/20 with one perk.

Do you not want these new players to buy the game? In what world should red rank players be allowed to use this exploit. This IS an exploit.

As so many have said before, PLEASE make matchmaking be based on the best ranked SWF player, not the worst, and not even the average. Players choose their own SWF partners and if they choose team-mates 15 ranks above them, then they should player killers who are also 15 ranks above them.

Considering the expectation of an influx of new players for this chapter, this was the one bug/exploit that needed to be fixed above all others. BHVR have cost themselves new players and money by ignoring this. They will not by buying this game, they will not be buying DLC and they will not be buying cosmetics. This time next week, they will be back on Fortnight.

I'm a level 14 killer and was going against levels as low as 2 yesterday. When I got Adept Demogorgon there was a level 5 on the menu. All a bit nuts.

I personally just believe SWF should not be allowed if you're 2 tiers away. For example if you're red, you can't play with green, if you're green, you can't play with brown, etc. It'd solve a lot of issues where matchmaking is concerned. As for the topic at hand, new survivors are being bullied by older killers as well. Or did you not see the post about some guy bragging about abusing them?

That said, it's rank reset too, so that makes it worse. Annnnd apparently matchmaking is being crazy again. Just got in a game with 3 red ranks(2/3/2) and I'm rank 11 atm. Oh well, at least I'll finally get that damn open the gates as Nancy ritual. Nvm, I'm never gonna get this damn ritual.

Agreed, but the devs decided to make it so it calculates the medium rank and base it on that

    :(

While this is a good idea, the problem is that it stops experienced players playing with their friends who have now got it, and helping them learn the game.

In my experience in talking and playing with people who are queuing with their friends is they don't teach them how to play the game, they just run new killers around while their friends do gens and ignore everybody who isn't in their SWF. I've been 1 hooked due to SWFs with red rankers.

I agree with you, even if the low rank members in the party will be beaten by high rank killers but they will learn the game better and faster that way. One more thing that if they decided to play with they high ranked friends, they would already accepted that they will play against good killers.

So it will be great for their friend but unfortunately they are playing a brand new rank 20 killer who will make a decision this week whether to buy the game or not. That killer WILL NOT be buying the game.

Red rank survivors playing rank 20 killers WILL be teabagging, they WILL be flashlight-clicking, they WILL be using every toxic perk.

If someone is genuinely a rank 20 survivor, playing with red rank SWF friends, they will be easily be able to carry you against a red rank killer.

To be fair rank 20 killers don't really have many problems with the game. When I first played, killer was my stronger role, because rank 20 survivors are easy as hell, even without camping. As survivor though...that was a different story. Every killer pretty much camps at rank 20, and even in higher ranks there are campers. If they're playing the killer, they may have a game where they get no one, but generally they will have fun, and no NEW killer is going to be like "This perk is OP" or "That perk is OP!" because those perks are pretty standard use, they're good, but they're not super problematic. The only time they'll be feeling REALLY bullied is if they go against a sabo squad or a red ranker is bullying them, but they won't feel like the perks are the problem. The only people who complain about perks are people more experienced with the game(not that everyone's complaints are justified, just saying, no new person is going to be like "SPRINT BURST OP").

On the other hand, a new person who plays survivor is going to have a miserable time, and I can almost guarantee anyone who stays will either quit playing survivor pretty much right off the bat and switch to killer, quit the game entirely, or be one of the 1% with nerves of steel.

  • Swfs shouldn't be allowed to rank up. Ranking should be a solo achievement like solo survivors/killers.

These people aren't SWF. The new players are being put into random games and it's messing with games for both sides

It's meant to be average rank as of 2-3 patches ago. And it briefly was, before matchmaking broke again.

It doesn’t even do that correctly either. Yesterday me (Rank 10) and two friends (Ranks 16 and 13) faced killers exclusively in ranks 20-18. Day before when it was me and the Rank 16 friend it was the same again. By that logic, we should have been facing yellow or green rank killers, but that was never the case.

Matchmaking hasn’t ever been this game’s strongpoint - clearly that hasn’t changed.

Still feel bad for stomping noobs when all I wanted to do was play with friends - bad luck on their end since my two friends hadn’t played since rank reset.

Personally I don’t think that anyone who has gotten out of the newbie ranks should be allowed back in them, regardless of how long they haven’t played for. Shouldn’t be able to match with anyone below R15 since they’ve played the game at least to a point where they understand the basic mechanics of the game. Definitely something BHVR need to look into sooner rather than later.

I also had a few games yesterday against and with R20 Killers and survivors in SOLO Queue. I am R7 currently and playedone game with a meg level 1 with one perk. (you can imagine how that went, with a GF R9)

Another game i was matched with R17 and 15 survivors. My friend (swf) was 10 and I am 7. The killer was Level 1 Wraith R20 and got absolutely destroyed. When i wanted to let him get me, i started to loop bad, but he DCed ...

Matchmaking seemed to be fixed just few days ago, but yesterday it was off again

I'm a Rank purple and I've been getting a bunch of Stranger Newbs in my games for the past like 5 games. I feel bad for them because I'm not good enough to carry the game against a green or purple killer.

even if you were good enough. if the killer finds one of the newbies first and has BBQ it is gg for them. They also would not know what BBQ is and think that the killer is wallhacking or some kind. I once watched a streamer talking about a wallhacking Billy, that was just using BBQ

edit2: if you were the first to be found and loop the killer for like 1,2,3 minutes, the new player will probably not get a gen done, because the cannot find one and then fail skillchecks. So carrying absolute beginners is nearly impossible imo

Personally I think you shouldn't even be able to fall below a certain rank if you have a certain number of hours in the game. I'm still unable to play since the latest rank reset because the TV I ordered will arrive in a couple weeks which means I'm green ranks now and possibly yellow ranks when I'm finally able to play again.

Can you imagine what the matches will look like when a 3000+hour Leatherface main faces 30+/- hour Stranger Things rookies? I will probably 4k-depip at yellow ranks unless I farm which is boring as hell. That's ridiculous.

@JawsIsTheNextKiller this has been my concern for a while. Whether its smurf accounts, or deranking, there is an absolute disregard for the health of the game. Getting and keeping new players is very difficult when these things are nearly common. That is how you kill a game off long term. Especially a game with such a niche market.

I keep trying to get my wife interested in playing killer, but within 2 matches she will get a team of red ranks grouped with a rank 19. They taunt the hell out of her the whole time and get toxic in chat. I don't blame her for looking at me and saying no thank you. And she's a gamer. Plays several mmo's (pvp), fps, and other games.

To be fair I've been getting truly mysterious lobbies even with no SWF involved. As in all public profiles, no one has eachother on their friends lists. Had two matches earlier that were something like 6-6-17-20 vs 19 with no SWF involved. Somebody go tell matchmaking to put down the bottle or something 😄

Obviously people knowingly exploiting it are uncompetitive cowards, I'd assume most are in agreement there.
