More Original Characters, Am I Alone?
The past 3 dlc releases have been Liscenced. I understand the point that these bring in money but I would like to be able to use my shards to get characters.
I love everything they have come up with for original characters. All the concepts and lore behind them. The Wraith being a favorite. I wish these killers got movies just like the Liscenced ones. I would love watching them.
But yeah, lots of licensed dlc makes me miss new original characters.

I love both Licenced and Original characters. However, I love the originals more because they can do more with them. Lore wise, cosmetics and mechanics.

i mean, the devs have more creative freedom with original characters, so its more likely they will be unique and fun, though i also love to see how much DbD has grown in the horror franchise when they add another iconic horroc character.
i just like seeing new killers in general ^^

I think this is kinda ironic. At one end, you have plenty of ppl wanting original content to blow their shards on. On the other end, you have an endless amount of threads making wishlists of licensed characters.

It's true. Which I'm happy they do both. I'm just saying they should mix it up more. Looking at past releases it has been some thing like 3 licensed 4 non 3 lisc etc. Mix it up.

I love the original characters and I'd be quite happy to see more. Most of them have great stories and aesthetic designs, I could easily see them in features of their own.

The last original DLC was Demise of the Faithful and it was forgotten almost as soon as it released. Let's not pretend that original DLC is inherently better than licensed stuff. Some of the licensed stuff is great, some is great on a conceptual level and poorly implemented. Some of the original stuff is great, some of it isn't. So long as the content is good I don't care how whether it is licensed, and I'm not seeing any pattern in terms of whether licensed content is more or less likely to be good.

Let's rephrase: I personally wish the level of detail and hype that went into licensing went into original IP, rather than a focus on showmanship over substance.

People don't even seem to play any of the original 2018/2019 killers besides spirit...
How many people are out there playing Clown and Legion having a great time regularly? Few i'd imagine.
People even complained about Plague...
Licensed killers at least draw people in since they are recognizable.

I would play Clown if he brought more to the table than those little stink bombs. He's disturbing AF, I love his design, just not his gameplay. Legion's also quite cool, but everyone seems to agree that they're hot garbage mechanically.

I still play Legion. Even after they were butchered by the nerf hammer. As for Clown I do enjoy playing as him. Now I try to stay out of the high ranks so he's easier for me to enjoy in the low ranks.
I dislike the Plague. Facing against survivors who refuse to cleanse turns you into a lamer Myers.

Depends on which original killers we are talking about. Legion was a total miss, the characters, lore, gameplay. Plague and Spirit were great IMO. Clown needs to be buffed, but his design and gameplay are okay.

I'm on the opposite end, I like the Licensed characters generally a great deal more than the originals. I mean I don't mind original characters either. I just have more fun being chased by Myers and hearing his chase music. Or using Scoops Ahoy Steve, as a survivor.
Reading a few paragraphs of lore on a killer or survivor generally doesn't do a ton for me. But watching like 10 Halloween movies featuring The Shape, or a ton of movies having Freddy Kreuger, or the Show Stranger Things etc. Makes me far more attached.
After enough time passes I can get attached to the Original Characters of course. Feng Min is my main. Originally I didn't like Dwight but he grew on me...probably because of the memes. Kate is cute. I liked Legion because they kind of reminded me of Ghostface. And While I don't play any of the original killers besides Legion I can enjoy facing them in a match... even if I find alot of them to be annoying to face...Hillbilly, Spirit, Nurse, Hag, Trapper. Some are stronger than others but they each bug me in some way. Which doesn't help I don't think with me feeling like I enjoy playing against the licensed characters more.

If the next chapter is licensed, which seems likely, I'll take a break from the game, I'll be back eventually but I refuse to buy another licensed chapter for a while

@LCGaster trying to get a boycott started eh, why can't you just not purchase the content ? I mean what does you not buying the new content change, but if you need a break take it, but the content will still be their you understand right what is it you don't want to happen? you should not be worried there will be no Chucky and I want have a favorite slasher : ( they can add all the slashers they want but if it's not Chucky I really don't care but I think the others are cool 👍

I'm not rich, I'm not a content creator, I don't have all the money in the world to spend
Too many licenses can be dangerous to the game in the long run as well
We already got 3 licensed "Chapters" in a row, one more and it will be the second time it happens, original killers are more interesting, and people don't have to spend cash to get them
I won't buy it if it is licensed because I don't want to spend money I don't have
Just after a while the killer's we already have become boring

Tbh i'd actually prefer if a Stephen King dlc was next.
Pennywise or whatever i don't think DbD has a single character that originated from a book.
What if they contact King directly and do their own Pennywise collaborating with him like with Ghost Face and Fun World?
A bhvr exclusive version of Pennywise would be crazy

The reason why I will take a break is because lately the devs seem to concentrate more on monetizing the game rather than fixing issues
We got Ash, Ghostface and the Stranger Things chapter all in a row, now we might get the It chapter and we are getting a battlepass

They've mentioned in the past that they've tried getting Pennywise and everyone in BHVR re-following Stephen King once IT: Chapter 2 came out and the DLC is probably set for December, right when Blu-ray IT 2 comes out, it seems really likely we will be getting the terrifying clown this winter.

That's totally understandable but it just seems like that this is another one of those threads to discourage others from buying something that they might enjoy given the chance, I too am neither of those things but as a horror community this is a a chance to see our favorite slasher's brought to life. I want that to happen sorry.
If people don't want to buy it that's also a choice ,you don't have to spend your money on every single DLC but I do. You still get to see the killer and play on the maps, and most likely all the Fog Whisperers will be playing the PTB and usually playing the new content for the first two weeks if they main that Killer or new survivor then more down the line, so you still get to enjoy it in away.
I just hate to see these treads about not adding licensed chapter's, To a horror game based on killers vs survivor's its literally the perfect combination
Also you said that it hurts the game in the long run when the community has grown larger since the Ghostface and Evil Dead chapter's I do watch the numbers it went from 12.k to 16.k and I think its maybe at 32.k now so that's a major increase I don't play SWF so can't give a synopsis on matchmaking nor do I know every bug that needs to be fix, But a good amount of those things are cleaned up with the hot fixes they deliver which they take all of you guys feedback to try to fix these thing's. I do agree if there's a problem with matchmaking issues they should fix asap because people have payed there money and expect to play with there friends. Everything else just seems to make up for funny moments Hinch 4gamers
It just sounds really objective towards other members of the community who might be expecting the devs to add their favorite killer or survivor which there's two more chapter's left on this roadmap 14,15 and then after that it will most likely be a year of orginal content so I don't think the person are people who've made these threads should try to discourage others from licensed chapter's

@THEghostface I know and that kind of scares me, chapter 15 might not even be licensed, its a full map, but it could be the Pennywise chapter and I highly doubt they'll do anymore licensed killer's after that for awhile

Then they have all of the big ones unless they moved onto ghost horror stuff.
Then they could go Conjuring Witch/Nun/Demon in Annabelle, Darth Maul from the movie insidious etc.
Or they could crossover with more games like they did Left 4 Dead?
They have years worth of stuff if they can get the rights to these things (or even want them to begin with)

I understand that you'd like to see all your horror icons in the game, but they don't have to come all out in a row
My idea is that they could aim to release two licensed chapters and two original ones per year, it should reduce, if not completely remove, the frustration of having too many licenses in a row

Pennywise/It: potential
Xenomorph: could be similar to Demogorgon or not, but still potential.
Another ghost-like killer would kinda negate The Spirit tbh, but lesser known killers could be possible to enter the game.

Hi OP here, and that's not what I am doing. So maybe don't put words into people's mouths. I agree with many people so far, such as the licensing ones having to dish out constant money. That's not something I have the luxury to afford at the moment (even with how cheap it can get, and it's really great that you can and will get all DLC, congrats) whereas originals can be bought with shards which I could use at the moment to get almost 4 characters worth.
But also LcGaster brings up an amazing point, one that killed the Friday the 13th game. Licensing won't last forever. The more they keep adding the more potential of running into problems in the future. I literally know nothing about this process and would hope BHVR has got all that secured for a long time. But taking into account how Friday the 13th was handled you just can't be too sure anymore and that's a scary thought that could happen to this game (probably won't because bhvr is awesome).
And as I stated before, lisenced dlc is great and fun but maybe don't release 3-4 chapters in a row that are just that. Mix it up a bit more.

More originals please, I do not care if movie related killers are in the game, original killers are far more interesting concepts. I just wish the original killers they have now got more love like clown, legion, trapper and wraith.

I didn't say I can afford it did I. I just said I buy all the DLC's original and licensed, I'm not sure what's your point. Mathieu Cõte said this literally our game so I merely support it, if you play fortnite I don't just as example the game is free but you have to pay for new skins and vbucks and no one complains about that, robolx has tons of content that people buy on a regular basis no one's complaining about giving them money plus the Left 4 Dead DLC was completely free and if we're just getting a paragraph that means it's a way cheaper to buy DLC. I'm a console player and you have to pay to play, no ones complaining about that. This is like I said just one of those threads where you don't want a specific person to have something just have that feeling, also you said you have shards to pay for four characters when the originals start coming back sounds to me like you're set. I think you should just appreciate what we have going I'm not a super fan of the originals but I find myself playing those characters the most plus I'm either a Jeff Main or Jake main I can't decide yet and like someone said you barely even see people playing characters like Trapper my matches usually are Ghostface,Myers, Freddy,Leatherface Spirit, Huntress,Wraith,Nurse,Hag I rarely ever see Clown into play.
Survivor side Laurie, there's always a Ash ,Bill, Tapp, multiple Quinton mains and pretty much the entire survivor roster, If they added Kyle from child's play you're going to see her alot
I'm pretty sure they no what there doing business wise so it's not your concern are mine's.

I would prefer more unlicensed characters, as these usually have more thought put into them and are more original than just copying ideas from the movie. Also, they do not cost money, and can be bought with bloodpoints.

Honestly if you only want original characters cause you can get them free that just tells the devs to do more licensed. And by now people have probably saved 18k shards or more for the characters

That's not the main reason. I said because of the lore and stories that they come up with for every individual. It is very interesting. Things like the last halloween event that added a bunch of interesting story elements to the game.
