Anyone have advice for Coldwind maps as killer?

I feel like I struggle on these maps the most due to the size of them and having difficulty applying pressure with killers that don't have the best mobility as it feels like I take a while just to get across the map and pressure a generator (Rancid Abattoir doesn't feel as bad in this aspect).

On top of that, I'm not really sure how to stop the loops on this map and that costs me a lot of time which usually leads to all of them or most of them escaping.

Coldwind is a very Survivor friendly map, don’t feel too bad if you lose there, that’s why we have maps like Lery’s and The Game to help the low mobility and stealth Killers out.

If it looks like a survivor is luring you to a strong loop then try and break away and look for someone else, good survivors will know how to use these loops to their advantage and waste as much of your time as possible (which as a killer on farm maps is usually very limited).

Learn to see through corn first things first, it's harder with Hag or Legion but it's something you need to do asap. Rancid Abattoir and Torment Creek can either be slightly ok or terrible based on rng, so that's nothing you can really do, as those god windows are super strong. Thompson's house is also extremely hard due to the non mind game-able fences loops. And, every map has the beloved cow tree loop, very hard to deal with, it's an heavily survivor sided loop, the only thing you can do is loop it (either clockwise or anti-clockwise, I don't remember now) in a way that survivors have to take the mid-vault.

Coldwind are heavily survivor sided, and I haven't even talked about the harvester, thanks not many survivors know how to loop efficiently the harvester (but, learn how to do the trick to hit survivors after they vault).

I've been getting better at seeing through the corn and tracking people as that's also a big part of the map being so difficult. How do you trick survivors on the harvester, though? Often I'll fake going up to hit them, force them to vault, and then drop off around a corner of the structure so I can cut them off and land a hit, but often they won't drop off the ledge so they'll just vault back.

The Coldwind maps are way too big and have a lot of safe loops close to each other. Rancid Abbatoir is a notable exception as it is relatively small. But the abbatoir windows are a giant pain.

There is no outsmarting Coldwind, because most loops are braindead safe. Force pallet drops aggressively (I hope you like spirit fury). If a survivor try to lure you to a god window, consider ignoring them. Even then if the survivors don't make glaring mistakes and you are not playing a top tier killer, you will probably lose.

Well just my luck, I had Kate looping me on that thing yesterday. Usually swinging across the side is enough to catch them by the vault, but she always jumped down the sides and was ready take advantage of the harvester again and the infinite in the silo that of course was opened as well.

Me having just P3d my Legion, and started trying out Dying Light accepted defeat lol, that game was over before it started. I did catch her at the Pig tree some how and BM’d the piss outta her and her Blendette friend trying to flashlight me though. ^_^

Only Rotten Fields is a big map.

Rancid Abbatoir, Thompson House and Fractured Cowshed are a not so big. Cowshed is actually pretty tiny and not much space to hide and run around.

The corn maps are really just all about corn blindness. If you got it, you're in for a world of hurt. If you can see through the corn there's no issue. The survivors don't have much to work with other than the corn, it's actually hard to survive against killers who even remotely have decent tracking. There are no palettes in the cornfields and no obstacles to even block things like Huntress hatchets.

In terms of safe palettes and safe zones it's not as bad some other maps like Haddonfield, or MacMilan.

But you just gotta work on the corn blindness. If you've hit them once you can just look at the ground and follow the blood.

On the subject of corn blindness let's talk about plants in general. Plants in Dead by Daylight have a simple function, to obscure vision. However, there's a little detail I have noticed about plants on Dead by Daylight. Plants don't normally move, ever. So if you see a plant moving, that means that someone is hiding in it.

    The more you know.

What you should do something like this:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Ux34NIkZ6E (play at 13:22).

Basically with the momentum gained from a lunge, and a little back and forth to gain additional momentum (which he didn't do because he already had wraith uncloaking extra speed), you should overpass the hay ball, landing where the survivors end the vault. Needs some practice, but if you master it you can save some time. And if you're good enough you can do kinda the same thing with the Badham school hole, just much more difficult.

Be very careful to stick to the wall, avoiding that round thing, otherwise it would bump you, and you won't succeed.

Yeah that's what I've been doing. I can still catch them on the hay when they try to vault back if I'm fast enough, right?

Yeah yeah, the vault is always a mid vault so guaranteed hit
