Question: Battlepass?
Ok so I guess there's going to be a battlepass in DBD? I didn't know this (I started a month ago) and I'm pretty disappointed.
Did anyone ask for this? Why?
I hate battlepasses because they feel like a money grab, even moreso than the cosmetics store.
Is it definite? Can it be stopped?
I might stop playing DBD when/if it's implemented, as I really can't support the idea of a battlepass.

Yes called Rifts/Archives.
Archives free track/challenges Rifts are paid.
A lot of people asked for it but a lot are also like you and against it. Battle passes are everywhere because people buy/want them fortnight popularized them.
It is definite and is likely coming in October/November. It said the date is tentative on the roadmap though so it could be delayed.
Rewards in the Rifts are cosmetic only so it won't actually hurt anything.

No one wants a battle pass we just want you to balance the game and fix the bugs can’t you just take a break from the DLCs.

They're doing everything at once.
If they took a break, fixed everything 100% then started updates again its guaranteed the game would break in some ways again completely destroying the point of the break from dlcs...

I don't think I've ever heard ANYONE say they've wanted a Battlepass in DbD, Chief.

That's not right. Archives are a seperate thing that allow you to earn rewards by doing objectives.
The rift will have BOTH paid and free versions of it. Which is the battle pass.

i love the idea. a battlepass in dbd thats awsome

Yes and no. It's true that they can't just tell their artists to start coding instead, but I think the complaint has more to do with resources. A company has limited money to spend on salaries, equipment, etc. The argument people are making is that any money the company is putting into the development of cosmetics would be better spent hiring more/better designers and programmers to fix bugs and balance issues.

Then why dont take close down that failing game deathgarden and take the workers like the bug fixers and put them in this successful game then it wouldn't take so long

Um okay... No need to be such a sarcastic jerk about it. I never said that it was my perspective, I was just trying to explain why some people feel the way they do about the necessity of cosmetics.
A counter-argument to the point you're making is that by having a solid, functional base game, they will naturally gain and keep more players, and generate revenue that way. I'm not part of BHVR, I don't have access to the figures, I don't know if that's feasible or not. As I said, this isn't really a viewpoint I hold very strongly, I'm just trying to help everyone around here understand each other's perspective a bit better.
And that's the last I'm going to say on the subject here, because this is not really what the topic is about and I don't want to derail it any further.

And after what a 1 year or 2 and a complete rework of the game the game is still barely keeping 200 active players sheesh even the people who made games like lawbreakers, gigantic, and battleborn know when to shutdown a failing game there wasting there time and resources and need to focus on the business sense and focus on dbd

It was actually a Dota 2 thing first, and has been making millions for them since its inception.

Personally if the paid subscription or whatever battlepass it is may be is a integration of the store cosmetics into unlockables through gameplay at a all new fair price then I'm excited for it.
I crave more customisation other than clothing. How about smoke trail customisation and explosions when you hook someone. New emotes to replace the point and come here ones. I think there's gonna be some fun but small additions which will make the game more enjoyable.

Im not against battlepass BUT i will be upset if they won't have the "play the rift and you get enough currency to buy another one"

I said it before they were revealed. 🤷♀️
I think battle passes are fun and give incentive to play more to unlock all of the tiers before time is up.
Especially when unlocks are exclusive. Hallowed Blight for example wasn't as fancy as it could've been because rewards went into the shop afterward.
If the devs keep them exclusive to the rift like that glowing Claudette jacket they teased it'll be a reason to play DbD more than you would otherwise.
Edit: I think they even did a survey with battle pass as a question before it was leaked iirc. Several people on this thread also said they want it and passes always sell you'll be surprised how many people will support this system.

Its never been asked for. And its definatly coming. The worst part is that rank rewards have practically been begged for since day 1, but we get this first... And the second worst part is that the battlepass will swallow up resources everytime it gets bugged, because it will gain an automatic first priority. Since monaay.
Edit: Note that im fine with the battlepass as long as it stays not pay to win, but the fact that this is coming Before other HIGHLY requested things is what upsets me.

Yes a battlepass system is coming and soon.
They talked about it on the anniversary stream and while I am not a fan of battlepasses in general due to some making them p2w I really don't mind as long as they have nothing p2w in them. The saving grace is Horvath specifically stated it will have not have p2w aspects.
There is always a need to bring more money in and I think part of that is down to them buying the game. They struck a deal for 16 million to buy it from the publisher starbreeze in 2018 and the deal wasn't a one off payment from what we know so they are probably still paying for that along with all the salaries.
I would rather they did this than increase the dlc price tbh as that is the only aspect which changes or enhances actual gameplay.

Idk if it works like that in RDR, i know it works like that in Fortnite :p

This is my hope as well.
And if nothing else, atleast there'll be something more to do than just grind perks.

It's not PTW so I dont think it's going to be an issue.
