Honestly anything but this and the previous system is fine, i will take any penalty, but dont face my rank 16 friends against rank 1. Especially when there's just one of me. If we had been 3 red ranks then thats a completely different story.

if it is not competitive then why is there a ranking system? and before you say "so noobs don't play the pros" then that is why they changed SWF, the old system was abused for red ranks to bully non-red ranks. so stop your complaining SWF has been broken for a long time and they finally have started to fix it.

You clearly haven't read my post if your argument noobs shouldn't play with pros. Because that is exactly what im trying to say.

Your friends will get better dont worry.. the human brain is amazing.

Ranks don't mean ######### boyo. Haven't you learned anything?

Its doesnt necesarily mean skill, but it definalty means playtime so a rank 1 is more likely to have more skill than a rank 15 since they have practiced more.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, you cannot blame the developers or "killer mains" for this change, you can blame a lot of the toxic SWFs who exploited the system to bully new killer by belittling them, playing with low ranked friends to accomplish this, mocking them for losing, BMing them, and do I need to continue? You have no one to blame but the special snowflakes in this community that ruined it for the rest of us.
I don't get why everyone found it fine for "killer mains" to have to deal with this for years and we were just told to "git gud, move and and accept the L and improve at the game" but now it's the survivors they are just on here complaining like it's the end of the world.
If I play another game such as RL which I recently got into and played with my friend who has thousands of hours, I would expect to be completely demolished which I was. Only when I got into solo queues I started to win games because people were at my rank but when I CHOSE to play with my friend we both had to accept the risk. Why does DbD has to be so different because I know for sure other multiplayer games use a similar system for parties such as Overwatch.
If a lot of people ended up "playing with friends for fun" which I see far too often as an excuse then why was is so common to run into groups like the ones mentioned? I know it's not everyone and I do generally feel bad for those who are affected but like I said there is no one to blame but the community for this change.
On top of this, killers still have people behind the screens playing that role they are not some AI. Why do the killers have to suffer for the fun of SWFs. I know if I just got on from a busy day I would want to play for fun, not to be tormented by SWFs which are "playing for fun with friends" for the sake of my fun.
Either way, one side would be completely screwed over. If they revert it, new killers will just be bullied out of this game and if they keep it then it's going to screw over survivors who play with new friends.
Anyway what's stopping you from starting up a Custom Game and showing them the basics about looping? When I first got this game, we went into the KYF game and then it was me as the only survivor and my friend as killer who was showing me how to loop and only after I got the basics we decided to go into a public match.

@twistedmonkey You said in the above quote: "Most PvP games your friends won't be able to play with you in a ranked mode unless they learn the basics and start to rank up. Why should this be any different?"
Let me stop your argument right there because that is a major flaw. In most any other PvP game, you are right: new players cannot play with their high-ranked friends in ranked mode. However, in most any other PvP game, there is also a Quick Play casual mode where they can.
Behavior, in yet another poor design choice for Dead by Daylight, decided to create the game with only a ranked mode. And therein lies the problem.
I'm a killer main, and for a game that they've also stated is a casual party game over the years, this current change is asinine. People want to play with their friends, including players they bring in. And given that DbD only has a Ranked mode, and no actual casual mode, this change is yet another very poor decision choice to keep driving new players away.
There are reasons why after a free weekend or bloodhunt, and within roughly two weeks of a 50% sale, DbD Steamchart numbers repeatedly drop back down to the 20k-25k daily peak player range, which has remained flat for some time now.

The difference is the userbase and why you saidn"if they can" this is why unsaid most and not all.
If the userbase can withstand it a casual mode works. If it can't the game is split and eventually one mode dies off or the game loses player entirely.
The problem you are arguing about comes down to damned if they do and damned if they don't. Your argument goes in favour of new survivors but new killer players also have to be catered for and I mean on them as they do not have the choice survivors do.
I personally find it quite selfish someone wishes to make a player that has no choice go up against them and have little to no chance just because they chose to play with a friend.
The way this has been done at least the new survivor players now have that choice. They chose where they wish to play and as in some other successful games if they wish to play with friends in certain modes they must play a bit before they can or should.
You have stated numerous times you played overwatch. What would happen if you had a friend join and were able to immediately jump into a ranked game with yourself? What would you advise them to do? Obviously it would take time to get to your rank and they cant play so you have the option to play the other mode and help them learn the basics (there is KYF) you can't play ranked with them until theybrank up so you then allow them to do that until they reach your area. Its just how it is.
The reason the playerbase goes back to the normal 20/25k according to the playerbase has mainly been balance which you yourself have spoken about especially on the killer side for quite a few times. This one change helps the balance more for the lower ranked killers than many before it and goes along with your own previous arguments. I can't see how you see can see this as being a bad thing for the sake of better balanced gameplay.

Those saying this is a competitive game are seriously missing the mark. Every game can be competitive. Go Fish, Uno, Jack's but that does not make it a competitive game. DbD is designed to be a casual party game. The devs have said that rank is merely there to allow players to enjoy the game by being pitted against others of their skill level.
If DbD were competitive, then there would be reward for rank, as a first step. There is none. You barely get bragging rights as we all know rank means nothing.
Now, back to watching the World Go Fish Championships on ESPN, The Ocho.

@twistedmonkey As I said, I'm a killer main. And seeking an averaging of the SWF for a Killer rank is not selfish. Yes, it means I went against Red Ranks, but it also meant I was going against Gray ranks in the same match.
An averaging is far more balanced than when they did Killer rank based on the SWF group former, which was gamed by having the lowest ranked friend assemble the group, or what they're doing now based on the highest rank.
Any other game would average the MMR, since rank is basically used as an MMR in this game. I've played Overwatch, Paladins, Heroes of the Storm, LoL, and DOTA, and MMR is averaged for a reason.
And notice I said MMR, which is what is used in causal modes. Because in an actual ranked mode, there is a gap-cap between ranks in a group. You could not have a low ranked friend in your group if you were high ranked.
So, we have to treat this as what would be casual modes in other games, since ultimately that's all this is.
Otherwise, Behavior needs to go all-in that this is a Ranked Competitive Game, and implement a rank range-gap between SWF members. Because as it stands, their system is trying to be a hybrid of ranked and casual in a single mode, which shows not only design shortsightedness, but also a complete lack of matchmaking and rank ladder game design understanding.

So after what you have said instead of going full blown ranked and locking people out from palying with highrr ranked friends they have left the players with the option it's just you will meet higher ranked players.
Like I said you couldn't plays with friends in a ranked mode yet casual still used mmr for average but what did you gain. Was the game a grind like this is lock out content you could only get in ranked?
Average may seem good on paper but let's be honest getting to green ranks as any side is really easy and where most new players will spend quite a few hours winning and losing and some who learn quicker will easily go onto purple.
The problem with the average then is you mix the best players with newcomers who as I said had no choice. That is a major turn off for them as they can't opt out. The current system allows players to opt out by learning the game first. They can of course play around in KYF as you can do that with a min of 2 people.
If the current game had a userbase large enough to sustain two modes I would be all for it but in reality it doesnt. These type of games don't tend do that well with player numbers as it's a niche market and DBD has been the one success story out of many.
No matter what they do it will not be the right fit for some players but making it so a group of players have a choice seems to me the better option rather. It either that or you are forcing something which is less fair upon one side.
So right now people that wish to play with friends have choices.
They can choose KYF to help them learn certain things about the game.
They can choose to play solo/with lower ranked friends for a bit to learn the game.
They can chose to play with high ranked friends but be disadvantaged.
It's all about the choices they are given.
For myself that is much better than a random killer player at rank 12 being matched with a rank 20 and rank 1 survivor without a choice and being disadvantaged.

@twistedmonkey You and I are not going to agree on the design direction for the change they made, it's just as simple as that.
I will say this in closing, though: you are right, it is a Survivor-side choice. And moving forward, I will continue to not recommend the game to friends and family who might want to play with me. Instead, I'll continue to recommend them to Overwatch or Paladins, my other two games, where us playing together isn't such a botched design job.

Still low rank killers days were being ruined because a single high rank player can loop them intill gates are powered, it sucks but it was a needed change just rank with you team m8's next rank reset
0 -
I'm sorry you feel that way and I hope you enjoy the game yourself and the others with your friends.
We don't always have to agree with design choices but we do have to be more understanding of why they are made even if it may upset some users initially as most do when it affects them.
